From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
(February 28, 2011, Edgewood, MD) — On Sunday, Feb. 27 at approximately 2:37 a.m., Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to several 911 calls for shots fired in the 1800 block of Edgewater Drive in Edgewood, MD. Callers indicated that a dark colored SUV was involved in the incident. Quickly, deputies located the described vehicle and affected a high-risk traffic stop just a short distance away on Watergate Court in Edgewood, MD. Inside the vehicle, deputies located three individuals, two of which had been injured and were later identified as victims of the incident.
The first victim, Jamal Jefferson, age 27, of Edgewood, MD was suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower leg. He was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center by Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company for treatment. He was released before 8 a.m. on Sunday morning. The second victim, Toy Takenya George, age 34, of Edgewood, MD suffered a minor laceration to her forearm. She did not require medical attention. The third person in the vehicle was uninjured.
Detectives determined that the Jefferson and George had traveled to the apartment in the 1800 block of Edgewater Drive to retrieve a cell phone that was taken earlier in the evening from a different location. Jefferson confronted the individuals that he believed to have the cell phone when a fight ensued. Jefferson ran to the vehicle to flee the altercation that had begun.
