From the Havre de Grace Office of Tourism:
In the spirit of an authentic New Orleans Masquerade Ball, Havre de Grace welcomes visitors and locals to celebrate Mardi Gras along Bourbon Street with a parade to benefit the Havre de Grace Recreation Committee.
Floats will be constructed by local businesses and artisans and the parade will proceed from Bourbon Street and onto Washington Street. Havre de Grace embraces the French culture with a grand celebration. Book your stay at one of our lovely historic Bed and Breakfasts and celebrate like the French Quarter. The Havre de Grace Mardi Gras will culminate with a festive Main Street procession at 6:30 pm on Fat Tuesday, March 8th where procession watchers will enjoy, costumed characters, decorated vehicles, energetic marchers, and a feast of beads for their evening of festivities. Post-procession parties will be held at various restaurants and bars around town where party goers can kick off the night with many specials, music, and more.
This is the fourth year and the parade continues to grow. “We are thrilled to have the involvement of the Havre de Grace Activity Center,” commented Ron Browning, chair of the event, “It creates a family friendly atmosphere for all to collect and enjoy.”
