An early Tuesday morning fire at a car service business on Route 40 caused more than $200,000 in damage to two tow trucks, according to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The blaze was reported by a passerby at 12:47 a.m. Tuesday morning at 1st Choice Automotive, located on the 700 block of Pulaski Highway in Joppa.
Seven firefighters from the Joppa-Magnolia fire company brought the fire under control in about five minutes. According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire is believed to have started due to incendiary causes in the interior of a 2005 International flat-bed style tow truck, and also spread to a 2008 Ford wheel-lift style tow truck.
Damage to both vehicles is estimated at $200,000, with another $1,000 in contents also lost.
