From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
On Friday, March 11, 2011 at approximately 1:20pm, Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call involving a robbery that occurred in the 2600 block of Smallwood Drive in Abingdon, MD, which began at approximately 10:30am, lasting approximately three hours.
The victim, Tina Marie Janouris, age 52, of the 2600 block of Smallwood Drive in Abingdon, MD told deputies that at approximately 10:30am, she answered the front door of her home expecting her mother. Instead, she was confronted by a white male wearing a ski mask that along with a second white male wearing a ski mask forced their way into her home with a handgun and demanded cash. Unable to meet their demands, the victim, Janouris, was then forced, by gunpoint, to drive her own vehicle to her local bank located at the corner of Emmorton Rd and Bel Air South Parkway. She then entered the bank alone and withdrew the amount of cash requested by the suspect. The second suspect remained behind in the victim’s home during this period.
After withdrawing the cash from the bank, Janouris was then forced, by gunpoint, to drive her vehicle to Hidden Ridge Terrace in the Box Hill South area of Abingdon, MD. Upon stopping her vehicle, the suspect exited her car and departed in a red older boxy style jeep Cherokee with a black stripe on the side and a white rear bumper, which was being driven by a third suspect.
Janouris then drove back to her home, where she found her mother, who had just arrived at the house located in the 2600 block Smallwood Drive, Abingdon, MD. Ms Janouris screamed to a neighbor to call 911 as both her cell phone and home phone were disabled during the robbery. Ms Janouris did not require medical treatment at the time of the incident. Preliminary investigation indicates at this time, the robbery does not appear to be a random act and that perhaps the victim was targeted.
Harford County Sheriff’s Office detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle described in the getaway – A red boxy style jeep Cherokee with a thick black stripe located along the lower sides of the vehicle, a white rear bumper and window tint that was peeling off the rear driver’s side window. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Chris Sergent at 410-836-5428.

I hope they find these jerks and take them out . . .
MacG says
Sorry this lady had to go through this. For all those that voted for the incumbent sheriff, are you still comfortable with your vote?
Bob says
Macg: Yes. As if a different sheriff would have completely eliminated crime.
What a ridiculous statement. You don’t have to like the sheriff, but at least be sensible in your criticisms of him.
Rob in Bel Air says
You could not have made a more stupid remark.

She then entered the bank alone, and withdrew the amount of cash requested by the suspect. Then returned to the car and was forced at gunpoint to drive elsewhere.
Is something missing from this story? Was someone or something being held hostage?
BakersBabe says
No kidding…..if she went in alone, couldn’t she have said something to the people in the bank about what was going on?
Rob in Bel Air says
Perhaps you should know the whole story before making judgments like these. Think about the facts that are known: (1) they know where she lives and (2) they know what car she has (she knows that they know where she lives and what car she drives). What we don’t know is what threats were made, and her emotional and psychological reaction to the situation. How would you react if placed in the same situation? I’m sure you would say, “I would have alerted someone in the bank.” I’m guessing you would be too scared and probably pee your pants.

Rob in Bel Air,
I agree with the facts that you stated…and my thought as well was that -according to the story- the second suspect stayed behind at the woman’s home…the woman was expecting her mother- so without access to commo with home/mom to see if all is well…she quite possibly could have thought that her mother may/ will be in danger at her home (thats what I would fear)
I’d look into family…
This does sound too hinky to have been a coincidence…I too think she may have been targeted by someone that knew her and her routine and maybe even her financial stability.
BTW… Any relation to Janouris, musician from Bel Air who started a hiatus at the end of 2010?

Rob-
While I can appreciate your concern over the incident, what I can’t understand is why you ask the last question? Any insight.
concerncitizen says
Sorry – question not to Rob, question to Chel Jump.
