From Maryland State Police:
Two Harford County residents remain hospitalized in Baltimore trauma centers following a serious motor vehicle collision on Churchville Road near Glenville Road early Saturday morning.
Thomas Henry Peters, 57, of Aberdeen, MD., was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center by Maryland State Police medevac helicopter following the 6:59 a.m. crash. Christina Lynn Braun, 31, of Street, MD., was flown to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center by Delaware State Police medevac helicopter from the head-on collision.
A preliminary investigation by State Troopers assigned to the Bel Air Barrack revealed Ms. Braun was operating a 1998 Dodge Stratus eastbound on Churchville Road when her vehicle veered into the westbound lane for unknown reasons. Simultaneously, Mr. Peters was operating a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on Churchville Road. The crash occurred approximately 200 feet east of the Glenville Road intersection. There were no passengers in either vehicle at the time.
Both motorists were flown to the trauma centers after being extricated from their vehicles by personnel from the Level Volunteer Fire Company.
Collision reconstruction specialists from the Maryland State Police were summoned to the scene to assist with the crash investigation. A portion of Churchville Road was closed by State Highway Administration personnel for nearly three hours while State Troopers conducted their on-scene examination. Both vehicles were inspected at a collision center where they were taken after the accident.
The probe into the crash continues and State Troopers will consult the Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office prior to filing any charges.
