From Harford County government:
The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council of Harford County has funding available for neighborhood grants. The funds may be used for programs that are new and creative, or for programs that have demonstrated to be effective. The program must help communities by preserving neighborhoods, making neighborhoods safer and stronger, building a sense of community, and/or intervention or prevention programs for at-risk youth.
The following groups may apply for funding: community associations, churches, informal community groups, youth groups, parent teacher associations (P.T.A.s) and non-profit organizations. Non-profit organizations must develop partnerships with community organizations, and vice versa. The following are some, but not all program examples:
* Youth Odd Jobs Program (coupled with comprehensive services)
* Community Clean Up
* Mentor Program
* Neighborhood Recreation
* Neighborhood Patrol
* Other Community Based Initiatives
Applications are now being accepted. Grants will be awarded according to the timing of submissions and will continue until all funding is exhausted. All levels of funding will be considered and encouraged up to $5,000. Groups that are interested and would like to apply for funding must complete the application found at the link below. Additionally, a representative from a group may be requested to make a presentation before the Council to answer questions prior to funding being awarded.
Guidelines and the grant application are available at http://www.harfordcountymd.gov/services/downloads.cfm?FormID=1707.
Those with questions or would like assistance, are urged to contact the Harford County Department of Community Services at 410-638-3389.
