From Maryland State Police:
Troopers from the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack responded to northbound (Maryland Route 24) at Singer Road, regarding a motor vehicle collision.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2005 Chrysler P.T. Cruiser, driven by Mildred Waltersdorff, 84 yoa, of Abingdon, MD, was traveling westbound Singer Road sitting stationary at the traffic signal for Rt. 24 and Singer Rd. Preliminarily it appears that Waltersdorff accelerated from her stationary position and continued through the intersection when she was struck on the driver’s side by a 2005 Kia Sorrento, driven by Christopher Damko, of Port Deposit. Waltersdorff was pronounced deceased by medical personnel on scene.
Five other occupants in the Sorrento driven by Damko were transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air with injuries. Chaehyeon Lim Damko, 32 yoa of Port Deposit, Yeijin Choi, 9 yoa of South Korea, Byungjun Gu, 11 yoa of South Korea, Katie Li m Damko, 3 yoa of Port Deposit and Ryan Lim Damko, 1 yoa of Port Deposit. All the occupants of the Sorrento have since been treated and released from Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.
The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while Troopers from the Maryland State Police investigated the collision.
