From Harford County Government:
The Harford County Department of Community Services Commission for Women initiated a project in March of this year to promote non- profit networking and partnering among organizations serving women and children. The group, known as the Women and Children’s Services Roundtable, initially met to promote networking, identify what resources already exist, and to better partner to continue to offer services during these strained economic times.
Well-attended monthly meetings took place March-June. During the June meeting, a survey was submitted to attendees to gain insight as to how the Commission could better help facilitate and promote these goals.
The Commission spent the summer reviewing the survey results and reconvened on September 28, 2011. The results indicated a desire to have speakers address non-profit funding resources, give presentations on services that could benefit shared clients, and provide networking opportunities.
The September meeting featured a panel discussion with representatives from organizations that have had to close or merge during the current economic climate. The theme was “lessons learned.” More than 20 people representing 17 different local organizations attended the session.
The next meeting will focus on funding resources and data collection information on the status of women in Harford County. The meeting will be held November 30, 2011 from 8-9:30 a.m. at MacFaul Activities Center in Bel Air.
