That’s funny; I’ve been here since June 2010 and I would say the opposite. I’m close to the site of this incident – a minute or two walk away – and while it’s not Todd Lakes around here, it’s a great area to live. I love the diverse collection of people and I believe that over the next five to ten years, it’s going to get even better.
You can live anywhere you want and there are going to be incidents of crime. That doesn’t meet an area is getting bad – it just means that there are human beings living there – they tend to act up on occasion. It’s not like we’re living in some crazy Murphy Homes-type area out here. As a life-long Harford County resident, I’m thrilled to raise my daughters in Aberdeen. You should come back and join me – I’d love to have you as a neighbor.

i agree its not aberdeen i love it here and D is one of my best friends and everyone is praying for you love.. but its just alot of drama and young minds, long drawn out issues that are handled wrong and that happens everywhere, the only difference is bel air and places like that dont have as many problems because they grow up different, when you are in a diverse area your going to see a lot more issues but who wants to live in a place where everyone is the same boring people… like i said i love aberdeen and my diverse group of associates and friends . LOVE U DIGGY WE ALL MISS U!!

I live in the area were this incident happen, and I disagree with the above comments. East bel air ave from the little store all the way up to the Exxon gas station is one of the biggest drug area in Harford county. If you want any type of drugs you can find them there. The young thugs both black and white sell drugs at will, and if you call Aberdeen finest meaning the police they never come. The citizens that live on the street are constantly feel threat by this thugs. You can find them at all hours of the day in large group walking up and down the street talking and cursing loud. They openly smoke weed on the street. The police know who they are and do nothing to curtail this activity; lead me to believe they are on the take. These thugs do not live on the street they come from what us to be Washington Park and do their thing. In addition, the young girls aren’t any better constantly fighting in the street like animals. Young high school and middle school kids selling and handling drugs for the pushers. If Fred Simmons were still mayor, this would not be happening. However, I guess Bennett said as long and they are over there and not over on the west side and on paradise road it is fine.

One of the victims was shot a few weeks ago in perryman after robbing and pistol wiping a guy. Should have been in Harford Hilton.

I live just a few miniutes walking distance from where this happened also. I agree that this is a very diverse neighborhood. I live next to teachers, police officers, landscapers, government workers, military, immigrants and retirees. Down the street I’ve met a bank assistant manager, small business owners, and nurses. We have a Boys and Girls club that our children can walk to and liberty park that our they can bike to. I have to admit that I don’t allow my child to ride her bike alone or walk further than the end of our block without me. Part of that is her age. Another part is how fast a few of my neighbors drive down our street. That last part is I do worry about my child’s safety around some of the people I have seen in our neighborhood. I’ve never seen them doing anything and they have never even said boo to us but I don’t feel safe near them.
Concerned Citizen, please call the police if you see something. They will and do respond when called. They are not on the “take”. About 8 or 9 years ago they even arranged a community meeting that was poorly attended. The officer was assigned to our area. He asked that we call to report any illegal activity we saw but not to get personally involved. He told us that we may not see the results of the calls but the information would be used. The police are not big brother. They can’t see all things all the time.
Whatever happened that night I hope it gets sorted out and I’m glad no one died. I’m worried that the violence will escalate and I pray that it will not.

Just finished reading most of the write-ups in this section. Can’t understand why anyone would want to live in Aberdeen or Edgewood. Sounds like those areas are mostly populated by dirt bags and scum bags.
