From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
[March 18, 2012, Bel Air, MD] — Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 1600 block of Bel Air South Parkway at approximately 6:30pm on Friday, March 16, 2012 for a report of a pedestrian that had just been struck by a vehicle. Joshua L. Aversano, age 21, of the 3100 block of White Hall Road in White Hall MD had been struck by a 2003 Kia Sedona van driven by Kimberly A Enders of the 500 block of Sellrus Court in Fallston, MD.
Harford County Sheriff’s Office traffic deputies were able to determine that the driver of the van, Ms. Enders, was traveling west in the right turn lane on Bel Air South Pkwy towards Rt. 24 when the pedestrian, who was not in a designated cross walk, ran across the east and west bound lanes of travel. The pedestrian, Mr. Aversano, was struck by the van while in the right turn lane. The impact propelled him to the sidewalk. He was transported by Maryland State Police Trooper 1 to University of Maryland R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with life threatening injuries. He passed away late afternoon on Saturday, March 17, 2012 due to the injuries sustained in the accident that occurred on Friday evening.
The cause of the accident was determined to be pedestrian error. There are no charges pending against the driver of the van.
Todd Holden says
my sincere sympathies to Ms. Enders….the accident appears not to be her fault, yet the experience will be hard to erase over time.
Kaitlin says
She killed an innocent person, she should go to jail or get her license taken away forever.
ABINGDONTEACHER says
That person was not innocent, he was in violation of the law. Crosswalks and crossing signs are installed for the safety of pedestrians. If you choose to ignore them, you cross at your own risk.
While I sympathize with his family as it is a horrible loss, I also sympathize strongly with the driver, who will have to live with this forever. She DEFINITELY DOES NOT deserve jail time.

Kaitlin you have zero idea what you are talking about. The driver could not avoid him. I was there. I saw it. The dude appeared out of nowhere and ran right in front of her van. She was a pregnant mom driving very reasonably. I dont know what that young man was thinking but the driver did nothing wrong. She was in tears and looked devastated. This was not her fault. Dont judge on that which you do not know. This was a horrible accident. I will never forget it. So sad.
DEE says
This dear driver could not avoid this accident. The young man Joshua was a Christian who lived for the Lord. Further he was an organ donor whose organ donations plus changed many lives. Randy and Gwen Aversano and others will miss Joshua much. This is a tragedy for Ms Enders as well as the Aversano family
