From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
[April 25, 2013, Belcamp, MD] — Harford County Sheriff’s detectives assigned to the Southern Precinct Investigations Unit have arrested and charged a 16-year old Belcamp teen with armed robbery. Arrest warrants were obtained for Rodney Parker, Jr, 16, of 1306 Liriope Ct., Belcamp, Maryland, charging him as an adult with armed robbery, robbery, and theft. He was arrested near his home by detectives at approximately 6:00 p.m. on April 24th.
On April 6, 2013 at 11:30 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies had responded to the 1300 block of Riverside Parkway and met with Sean Paul, 39, of Baltimore. Mr. Paul reported that earlier in the day he had responded to a Craigslist advertisement where he offered to purchase a cell phone listed for sale. He made contact with the seller by phone and they agreed to meet in Belcamp. Paul met the seller in Belcamp at approximately 11 p.m.
Upon meeting the seller (now suspect) the suspect then displayed a black handgun and demanded the victim’s cash and cell phone. Mr. Paul gave the suspect his cell phone and an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled the area through a nearby apartment complex. Mr. Paul was not injured.
Southern Precinct detectives, assisted by the Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers, Gang Unit, and Community Action Response Team (CART) developed leads which aided them in identifying the suspect. After his arrest, Parker was booked at the Harford County Detention Center, where he is being held on $150,000 bond.
It would be nice if I could get a concealed carry license so I could protect myself when buying items on Craigslist…
Yeah good luck with that, I wouldn’t hold my breath for this state to ever actually abide by what a judge has ordered and change their permit process.
In the meantime, people need to stop conducting Craigslist transactions in private meeting places. If someone is not willing to meet you on the parking lot of a police station to conduct a transaction, they probably are not worth doing business with.
What makes you think you wont get robbed at a police station parking lot? You mean meet up at the Dunkin Donuts where for sure there is a cop around.
So you have a 16 year old arrested. He was misunderstood and should be tried in Juvenile court. I am sure this was a misunderstanding and when the guy shows up the 16 year old was afraid and wanted his mommy. YEAH OK…..Hope he likes the accommodations at the Harford Hilton and say Hi to all your new friends!
I don’t understand. How was this 16 year old able to buy a handgun and be issued a permit to carry it so he could rob the other guy? This is O’Maryland and we have tough handgun laws that prevent 16 year old criminals from having guns!

No, but maybe enforcing the many laws that are already on the books would be good start? But, you’re right…..let’s just keep passing more and more laws that ultimately restrict the freedoms and liberties of LAW ABIDING citizens. That makes total sense.

But carrying a gun without a permit is illegal, obviously no one would violate that law so he must have had a good & substantial reason to be issued a permit by the State Police…

And isn’t it just typical that the perp had the gun illegally and the victim has no chance of getting one with a permit in Maryland. But why would anyone buy a phone off Craig’s List and meet someone in a parking lot at 11:00 pm to take delivery? I’d love to hear the real story there.
It wasn’t a real gun it was a BB gun…not that it’s okay to rob somebody. And he’s from Baltimore county not city and housing is not paid for in vouchers. Just because he’s black does not mean he came from a ghetto or bad upbringing…some kids just lose their way.
