From the Harford County Republican Central Committee:
At its last meeting the Republican Central Committee of Harford County voted to hold voluntary prayer after its June meeting where we will pray for Harford County, the State of Maryland and the United States of America. The June meeting will be held on June 19, 2013, and is located at 220 S. Main Street (second floor conference room), Bel Air, Maryland. The meeting starts at 6:30 PM and prayer will be held at the conclusion of the meeting. Elected officials and the public are welcome and encouraged to join and attend.
Soul Crusher says
What a total bunch of crap, your going to “pray” for Harford County, the State of Maryland and the United States! Sounds to me like your going to do exactly what Republicans do in Congress, NOTHING!
Justin A. Glimmer says
I agree with “Soul Crusher”. But Hell, at least it’s “voluntary prayer”! These same “pro-theocracy” dolts would endorse “forced Christian prayer” in our public schools. (and they complain of Muslim extreemists!) 🙁
Doh says
This is more of a Democrat approach… Let’s sit back and hope someone else solves our problems.
Soul Crusher says
About as effective as sitting back and letting god solve our problems, wouldn’t you say?
doug104 says
I feel better already… lolololol
mk77 says
Really???? A press release about a vote for a scheduled prayer… and here I thought religion was a personal thing… on a unrelated thought… Is it limited to only the Christian faiths? 🙂
WebsterHatesU says
Wow. Spending tax dollars to vote on whether or not to pray. What a joke.
Just The Facts, Ma'am says
The Central Committee doesn’t spend tax payer dollars. That would be illegal.
The Money Tree says
What makes you think any tax money is being spent? I have no problem with a prayer for Harford County; not sure it’s important enough to report on though.
mk77 says
Definitely not worth the report/release. I find it funny that they voted to hold it at the end of the June meeting… Why not the end of every meeting? Or do they think they need particularly more help at the end of June :)… Must be the distractions at the beginning of summer
Derek J. Howell says
A press release was sent out to notify and encourage the public to join us in praying for our elected officials, county, state and country.
Gratefully,
Derek J. Howell
Cdev says
In fairness your release did not say elected officials rather you are praying for the county state and country as a whole.
Bel Air Fed says
we see what happens when we pray to Martin, Mike, and Mike. So this couldn’t hurt.
brianc says
The Harford County Republican Central Committee is just like a private club. No Taxes dollars are involved. They can choose to pray if they want to or not, they can choose who they want to pray to. People are free to join or unjoin this committee.
“Our culture has accepted two huge lies. The first is that if you disagree with someone , you must fear or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense. You don’t have to compromise convictions to be compassionate.”
mostly a quote by Rick Warren
ProPrivacyAntiSmartMeter says
To those who would mock the notion of prayer and Christianity in general: Hopefully you will one day get yourselves a proper, truthful education so you won’t make such embarrassingly ignorant complaints regarding same. If indeed you were educated, you would recognize that this decision to pray is a direct continuation and extension of the Christian principles, beliefs and practices of our founding fathers, which were then fully manifested into our founding documents. We were indeed founded as a Christian nation. God bless those who care enough about our state and country, to include and continue a practice upon which our nation was founded.
Soul Crusher says
I agree with Bill H.
Soul Crusher says
Can a Muslim come to the event and pray in accordance to his faith? Man you are a poster child for freedom of religion, not……
Bill H says
Prayer…. how to do nothing and still think you are helping.
“America is a christian nation” said no founding father ever. Deal with it.
B says
Why do you get Saturday and Sunday off?
Teacher says
How about specificly pray for all the teachers that lost their jobs this week. And then pray that this county doesn’t get another republican as CE.
B says
We would be much better off with the democrats who have the state in an 80 billion dollar hole.
