Mothers of Murdered Sons & Daughters of Maryland (M.O.M.S. & D. of MD) is sponsoring our annual event for 2013 (Tariq’s 5th Memorial Cookout – Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Turners Station Park), and are inviting you to cover this event.
With the rising tensions regarding the Travyon Martin case; Chris Brown (whose son was murdered by a police officer in Baltimore County last year — a NOT GUILTY verdict) will be in attendance and has joined M.O.M.S. & D. of MD. We are committed in the fight to END VIOLENCE in Maryland and the U.S.A. We have invited several political figures to this event as this issue is CRITICAL. A formal invitation & Flyer is below. This event will memorialize new victims of crime in the Harford, Baltimore City, Baltimore County and surrounding areas. It is an annual event and, unfortunately, getting bigger every year. THIS YEAR’s event will be our BIGGEST yet — 35+ NEW victims/families.

When all the politicians are there…I wanna get my ticket. Bet they are going to sell out. I am hoping that the sheriff is there. That would make me feel SAFE. Gonna drink a wine cooler with Dion. He would make a great county exec. Oh and don’t forget David Craig…..he plans on doing big things for edgewood…once he is governor. On a serious note, I feel for the parents who lose their children and wouldn’t wish that on any parent.
Why do we have all this news coverage of the Zimmerman case? This was one guy, who tried to act like a cop, and a fight broke out. BUT we don’t hear anything about the grandmother who murdered her granddaughter. Guess it only makes news when it is white and black or black on cop? I pray for the little girl, btw, they both were black, and hope she has found peace. The news needs to start being unbiased when it comes to murder. Again, why didn’t the “civil rights” leaders come out with pictures of this young little angel and tell her story. She didn’t deserve to die at the hands of her grandmother. It disgust me when a white guy and black guy fight and that’s all you hear about it marches and protest. WHERE WERE THE PROTEST FOR THIS CRIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Zimmerman was not “white” – and the media coverage is because Sharpton, Jackson, and our President got involved and had to say something to the media.
That is the only reason why…you don’t hear the President making comments about white-on-white crime, or black-on-black crime, do you? Didn’t think so.
Any loss of life is tragic…
Also, to think that Zimmerman was trying to “act like a cop” is laughable. I believe that any trained, certified police officer wouldn’t immediately go to guns on a neighborhood thug.

I can assure you, young lady, the United States is the furthest thing from even remotely resembling a war zone.
Poor choice of words. I see you are going for the shock value, but with other Sons and Daughters engaged in combat overseas, it was a poor comparison.
Another mention of the Chris Brown case, and another poor choice of words which only goes to show your bias in these events. If the officer was found Not Guilty, then there is no need to refer to him as a murderer.
