From the Aberdeen Police Department:
[Aberdeen Maryland, April 1, 2014] Investigators have charged Matthew Steven Allen, 33 of the 300 block of Stevens Circle Aberdeen with three armed robberies that occurred over the weekend.
The first incident happened at about 9:50 PM on Saturday. A black male wearing a camo face mask and a navy blue hoddie with a white logo on the front entered the La Qunita Inn located in the 700 block of West Bel Air Ave. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded cash. The suspect fled after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash. The motel clerk was not injured during the incident.
The second incident occurred on Sunday March 30th about 12:44 AM at the Travel Lodge in the 800 block of West Bel Air Ave. A male entered the motel, displayed a handgun and demanded money. An altercation ensued with the motel clerk and the suspect eventually left with an undisclosed amount of cash. The clerk was treated for minor injuries at the scene. The suspect was described as a black male 5’ 8” to 5’9” tall, 200 lbs wearing a dark blue or black jacket, red shirt, white shoes.
The third incident took place at the Red Roof Inn in the 900 block of Hospitality Way. On Sunday March 30th at about 7:25 PM a light skinned black male about 5”8” tall wearing a dark colored hoodie and camo mask entered the motel. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money. The suspect fled after receiving and undisclosed amount of cash. The motel clerk was not injured.
Allen was arrested without incident last night near his home. Allen is being held on $250,000 bond. There are no booking photos of the suspect available.
