From Harford County government:
Harford County Department of Parks and Recreation employee John Marsilio has been named the Harford County Employee of the Month for June 2014. He is a Building Maintenance Mechanic.
Marsilio was recognized for his dedication to the operations of Parks and Recreation. He has come to work numerous times on holidays or other days off to correct heating issues in Parks and Recreation facilities. Adequate heat is critical to both staff and program participants. Marsilio understands the importance of keeping the operation running smoothly.
For example, on Thanksgiving Day, Marsilio came to work to repair the heating system in one of the tenant houses. He also returned on another day of a long weekend to complete the project. He took liberal leave on January 22, 2014, but came in to correct the heating issue at the Havre de Grace Activities Center.
His skills save the county money as many repairs and replacements can be done in house and don’t require an outside contractor.
“John is always cheerful and willing to help in any way he can. He takes pride in his work and wants to make sure things are running smoothly. His willingness to respond to emergencies is appreciated by the entire department,” said Stewart Kregar, Parks and Recreation who nominated Marsilio for the award.
Marsilio says he plans to donate his $100 check to the Meals on Wheels Program.
Job well done sir! Didn’t know that employee of the month gave your $100 so that’s even better news. I thought that it was a paid day off at your choosing.
