From the office of U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski:
MIKULSKI STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT OBAMA’S PLAN TO COMBAT ISIS TERRORISTS
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.), Chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today made the following statement on President Obama’s plan to combat Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorists:
“President Obama made a compelling case for a rapid, muscular response to the serious threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). ISIS is a vicious terrorist army that has zero respect for human life, including the lives of innocent Muslims. ISIS is a danger to America, the Middle East and the world.
“America needs to build a strong international coalition response to defeat ISIS using military, intelligence, financial and political means. Europe, the Arab States and other allies and partners must step up on all fronts.
“Defeating ISIS will take time, but we cannot have an open-ended conflict. We must avoid the mistakes made following 9/11. There can be no blank checks and no proposals without real strategies connected to them.
“ISIS’s barbarism is not sustainable. Their perverted ideology offers no hope or solutions to real people’s problems. I support the President in uniting the world now to defeat ISIS wholly and completely.”
