Lenny Lane says
Edgewood is safe just ask Jesse Bane. Where was Eagle 1 during all if this?
Bane Crime says
Bane to involved with forwood Visnaw Moore presberry and naming his favorite sandwich at Savona. Bane to distracted by mistakes to fight crime effectively. Sad.
J. Kunkle says
Because the primary job of police is to investigate crime, Eagle One was not needed. A deputy simply drove to the location and start investigating.the incident.
Sheeple says
Absolutely correct, people have gotten it in their heads that police protect you, that’s not their job, they investigate crime and generate revenue for the state. The only way police can protect anybody would be if you have one assigned to you at all times, like the Governor.
Ralph says
If the police don’t “protect” you in any way then they should stop using that word in their mission statements and motto’s that several agencies have displayed on their patrol cars, such as “To serve and protect”.
The police should stop labeling programs as “Crime Prevention Programs” if they don’t intend to prevent crime.
SoulCrusher says
The only way police can protect is by their presence. When police are visibly present, crime is curbed. By moving the Police Station out of Edgewood’s crime center, their presence is diminished. Who’s wonderful idea was that? Crime will continue and Cassilly and the Judges will continue to push light sentences, using plea bargains, to put those same violent offenders back on the street sooner than one would hope. The police can only lock’em up. They can’t keep them forever. Funny thing, Cassilly’s office claims that they have to offer plea bargains because the police make bad arrests and the cases would never survive a trial. If that’s so, why do they keep getting convictions, via plea deal? Something smells slightly funny, don’t you think? This is called passing the buck! Where’s all that accountability I keep hearing about? Who takes personal responsibility for all this? The entire Criminal Justice System does and it sucks…………

The sad thing is Edgewood is served by the same crooks year after year. Take a survey and see where the shootings happen. Dollars to cents its behind the old Giant. Dion Guthrie and his merry band of misfits (Jansen Robinson, etc) know where the problem is and instead of serving the rest of the community that have to put up with this, they want to be politically correct. This area is full of section 8 housing where you have not only an absence of landlords, but an absence of accountability. How many of these gang knuckleheads are living with relatives and friends in these homes.
You built that multi million dollar facility not more than 1/2 mile from this hot zone (Blaze Zone)… what has it got you … not a damn thing. They care more about Independence day carnivals and parades than telling it like it is and doing something about it. Edgewood really ought to feel like a used rag, because thats what these folks have done. They are okay letting Edgewood be the joke of Route 40, because they are making money and all they have to do is sprinkle some bread crumbs every few years for folks to follow the shiny object in amazement. Shootings and Assault…. let me pave a road or do a photo op… all is forgiven.
But in the end Edgewood will continue to vote for these yahoo’s who show up and promise big changes and love to scare folks about just how the big bad wolf will take their benefits away. Sadly what voters don’t realize is that they are Slaves to politicians without chains, they are enslaved by the same nickel and dime improvements that come about right around election year. Just enough to get them through another election. Vote them out.. thats the only way. You may pave a road or two, but the true economic impact of Edgewood is significantly hampered by the fact that you have a blaze zone right behind where you want business to set up shop. Not going to happen if I’m a business owner.
Fighting off the stigma starts with changing the very politicians who incubate the stigma every year through inaction. Promising bills and then mysteriously making them disappear because they have neither the balls nor the will to do what is right. I don’t care if the candidate is republican, green, independent… someone else deserves a chance to do something and end this circus. Wake up
Expect whats coming says
You write the truth and do it eloquently. Sad thing, there is more to come. After this election they are going to use census figures to determine more equality – and with millions of new citizens coming you can expect Harford County to have its huge pocket of Mexican gangs. The battles in the streets will be legion.
SoulCrusher says
Wow, you took the words right out of mouth! Yes, Bane should go, but Joseph Cassilly has been the County Prosecutor for years. In fact, he brags on his website that he is Maryland’s longest running prosecutor to date! Now, when you say the same old criminal year after year, who do you think puts them back on the street? The prosecutor does. It is because the prosecutor offered a phuking plea bargain! You all blame it on Bane, but its not him. The prosecutors and the Judges that allow these plea bargains are to blame. They want Edgewood to be Harford’s inner city resort. They want Aberdeen to be ridden with crime. You will see the same old same old time after time doing the exact same crime. Its the truth, sad, but true……
LOL says
I sure do miss Edgewood raceway. I bet a lot of other people do too.
non stop says
Bane has NO CLUE how to fight this type of crime. He might have been in law enforcement for 40 years but things change.
Pavel314 says
Short of sending all the Section 8 people back to Baltimore, how does one fight this sort of crime? You could have Eagle One hovering over Windstream Way all night with searchlights but the bad guys would just go shoot each other on some other block.
Keith Gabel says
I’d be willing to wager that most Section 8 voucher recipients have lived in this county longer than most of the people who complain about them.
Section 8 is a red herring. Where there are concentrations of poverty, there are concentrations of crime. The usual solution is more jobs in the area, but that requires public-private partnerships and willingness to work at the problem over the long haul, rather than 2 or 4 year election cycles.
Pavel314 says
Doesn’t Section 8 housing concentrate poverty, therefore, by your logic, concentrate crime?
You’re not going to solve the problem with more jobs. How many of those people would take a job and give up the free rent, food stamps, and other government handouts? Besides, do you think that many of them have any marketable job skills or the work ethic required to get up and go to work every morning?
Keith Gabel says
Section 8 is a voucher for subsidized housing. It is not “free” housing. It can be used at any property involved with the HUD program. Section 8, by itself, does not concentrate poverty. That is a condition of the free market, as property owners must be willing participants in the program.
Since most of the people in Section 8 housing work for a living, albeit usually in the retail or other unskilled service industry jobs, your concerns about their work ethic are largely unfounded. You do, however, bring up a valid point. Jobs aren’t the only solution. Increased investment in apprenticeships and job training are also necessary.
getthecrackout says
it starts with getting the drugs out! get the dope out, get section 8 out
SoulCrusher says
The crime that needs to be addressed isn’t the drugs, its the repeated crimes by violent offenders. Armed Robbery, Assaults, GUN VIOLATIONS, distribution of Hard Core drugs and that sort of stuff. You can be a drug user and still hold down a job. However, robbing the gas station to get it is unacceptable. Anytime your actions cause a danger to other members of the public, it is wrong. If you are sitting at home and smoking some pot, who’s business is that other than your own. If you are out drunk driving you are putting every other driver at risk. Harm to others is what should not be tolerated. That is what the law should be concerned with……. not busting some pot head who isn’t hurting anyone.

I love reading the “fire blogs” and seeing the fancy “Bel air” people asking about why a helicopter was searching an area. The fire blogs aren’t a Police scanner, DUHHH.
Welcome to new Harford County, yuppies.
While you paid over $300,000 to live in your HOA, 1/4 acre lot that cost a developer no more than $150,000 to construct to finish, possibly even less after greasing the county wheel, all while using the cheapest building material think about exactly where you live. Edgewood North.
While you’re putting the next stick figure on the back of your 2015 big SUV as your furnace and air conditioner are being repaired because the builder used the lowest quality units, the roofer nailing shingles back up, the handyman fixing doors because when they built your house they didnt drill holes before putting screws into wood and now its all cracked, remember where you live, Edgewood North. Better get used to hearing the search copters.
J. Kunkle says
Well, aren’t you a little ray of sunshine?
toot toot says
Whatever gets you excited.
I don’t see why so many people flock to builder neighborhoods, big house with no yards in Edgewood North.
Don’t worry, the schools won’t be great forever. Think Route 40.
Don’t believe me? Look at Harford Tech. Place was a hot spot for non tech teacher transfers, now, no one wants to go there.
Hedley Lamarr says
The schools in Harford County are far from great, drugs, gangs, weapons, favoritism, sexual assault from other students and teachers, I lot goes on that is never heard about. What was the outcome of the one male teacher from C. Milton Wright that was having sex with two students and taking nude pictures of one of those? that was about 6 years ago.
Hedley Lamarr says
My exact thoughts, well said. I still don’t understand the whole concept with the stick figures and “My kid is a honor student” bumper stickers, like who gives a rats a$$ about how many kids you have and that your kid made the honor roll. Oh, and stick figure pets also, WTF Cares. I guess it’s part of the mini-van mommies club, if they only knew that they are a joke.
Lol says
Yeah I guess it’s a real problem that moms are proud of their kids. Lamar what would make yoh happy. A sticker expressing my kids an bastard crack baby. Lamar you are a grumpy old dick.
Hedley Lamarr says
Sounds like I struck a nerve mommy dearest, it’s the truth AH, go drive your mini-van at high rate of speed while you and the other mommies can bitch about speeders. Keep them stickers coming, I’m sure the mini-vans with stickers are the topic of conversation with everyone comparing how many stickers were seen that day, Im sure everyone is very impressed, I drop everything I’m doing when I spot a mini-van with stickers and call all family and friends, they tell me that I’m so lucky to have seen that, Next I’m going to ask for autographs from these mommies
Lol says
Lamar please do us all a favor and crawl back under the rock from where you came from.
Hedley Lamarr says
open mouth and make it happy!
Hedley Lamarr says
Your bed, no thanks
Steve says
Lamarr, surprised you can type while you are taking it up the axx
Hedley Lamarr says
Stevie, you must be part of the Mommy mini-van club, how many stick figures you got? What a man, Btw , I got a stick for you, open wide you manly man.
i get a kick says
I get a kick out of the ones with just the mom stick figure with a kid or cat or two… nothing like splashing “follow me home and assault me” all over the back of your car… idiots. Now if anyone could point me in the direction of a “my kid is an honor student at Charles Hickey” I’m in. Don’t even start with the “my dog is smarter than your honor student” which is a sure indicator that the bumper it’s adhered to is smarter than the driver.
toot toot says
Wasn’t Harford County featured recently on NatGeo? Cool story, bro.
Nice to know about how so many well raised kids in yuppyville are into illegal narcotics.
Meanwhile, the 1 and a half mile stretch of Edgewood still is the same.
A realist says
We will never live in a world that is drug, gang, crime free. Imagine the police officers that would lose their jobs, no bad guys , no cops… No more cheesy restaurants from countries we never heard of, no illegals, no section 8 or liquor stores on every corner. Like a rat in a maze and no way out. Systematic Self Enialation… Your rite where they want you.
Needs to know says
Seems to me (as a casual observer) that the Aberdeen Police can handle similar diverse and challenging areas much better than whatever is going on in Edgewood. Aberdeen surely doesn’t have weekly shootings.
What’s going on HSCO?
Needs to know says
HCSO, excuse me.
Open Your Eyes says
It is really sad that we will never know the true identities of the likes of Soul Crusher and Hedley. It would be fun to look them up in MD Judiciary and ultimately review their interactions with the LE community. Soul Man is always implying that he was constitutionally wronged in what appears to be a drug incident from his comments in past postings. Sounds like sour grapes from a guy that got caught bobbing when he should have been weaving. Hedley is clueless when it comes to his comments regarding operational issues of local law enforcement. I perceive him as a couch potato who has never been in a fight or life threatening encounter. He makes brave posts from the safety and security of his computer.
SoulCrusher says
And I assume your name is OPEN YOUR EYES. What a hypocrite………….
Hedley Lamarr says
Looks the Mommy mini-van club and Steve put out an all out assault to have my comments hidden, you go girls. What am I to do?
More Bane Crime says
More and More Bane Crime, Instead of focusing on crime, Bane focusing on problems he has caused; Forwood, Visnaw, Pressberry, Detention Center Deaths and huge civil liabilities, Unqualified appointments, Moore, and so and so on. Move forward come election time…
Old Skool says
Magilla the Gorilla and Jungle Jim brought the ghetto from Baltimore to Edgewood. When they blew up all the highrises the roaches had to move somewhere.
