The Harford County Deputy Sheriff’s Union has completed endorsement polling of its members. The members received the names of all Harford County Candidates running in the November 4, 2014, General Election, by Office sought, as well as the choice to not endorse any of the candidates in that race. The selection process ended on October 4, 2014, and the following candidates have received the votes required to carry the endorsement of the Harford County Deputy Sheriff’s Union.

I heard Bane barely got 50% of the total vote. Certainly not a vote of confidence.
It was not an overwhelming endorsement. I guess the Senior Dfc rank that Bane knew nothing about helped. Bane has taken care of the Detention Center by hiring new people to open the new wings and cutting back on overtime. Oh wait, thats right they are almost $500,000.00 dollars over the overtime budget for the year out their. Forced overtime and low morale and no raises and not included in the Senior Dfc rank raise. To me a good Sheriff would have been endorsed by both Unions. This should just prove poor leadership on Bane’s part. The Detention Center is out of sight and out of mind for Bane. How many deaths under Bane? Several years to search for a “qualified leader with Corrections experience” and was unable to do so.
Yes this narrow endorsement is a glowing win for Bane.
Marc the Harford County Deputy Sheriffs Union represents Law Enforcement deputies at HCSO. So when they vote, they vote for what they think is in the best interest for HCSO law enforcement. They are the largest law enforcement union in the county. You should know that you are a member. This endorsement is huge and you know it.
It’s clear now that Marc Eatin is willing to destroy the HCDSU for his anti bane groups own benifit. When Marc started this campaign a few years ago he said he was doing it for the deputies(his brothers and sisters). Now the HCDSU has endorsed Sheriff Bane and Marc appears to be doing this for the CO union. Marc is willing to post videos that don’t belong to him and trash the union. The union should take a survey vote to oust Marc Eaton he is a embarrasment and a fool.
Last time I checked a vote was a vote meaning that that no matter how big the majority is or isn’t the majority takes it. So I don’t really see how this matters.

This says it all. Gahler Is a trooper. He is a trooper ‘ s trooper. I’ve said it before but it bears repeating. You are better off with a known evil than an unknown one. Do not think that Jessie or Gahler are unlike. They are both smart, calculated, and self serving. I don’t feel the CO union was brave in stepping out. I feel their young and malleable leadership made a poor hasty decision. You always back the incumbant, always. If they lose its not held against you. Is that why Sheriff Bane hired a retired Trooper to be the Warden for his Detention Center. Someone who will have no consideration for the Deputies and other employees who work there? If your assessment is accurate, then this county can look to some very troubled times at the Detention Center.
Significant difference between Chuck and Jeff. A warden still answers to someone, a sheriff is the ultimate position. A warden is directly charged with taking care of CO’S and detention center, that’s his specific job- for a Sheriff the detention center is not a priority. It never has been. It’s clear whom you support and that’s fine however the positions are vastly different. From what I’ve heard thus far, Chuck is fitting in just fine.
It’s always amazing to me how folks who have their own words thrown back at them, want to attempt to moderate their comments to mean something other than what they said.
In context, you stated that Troopers didn’t like Deputies and thought even less of CO’s. Specifically, you stated, “The only thing they find lower than a Deputy is a CO.”
You made these comments in support of your position that Sheriff Bane should be retained and pointing out how you believe Mr. Gahler to be unfit for the position of Sheriff as he is a retired Trooper.
Now you want to mitigate your comments by claiming that Mr. Moore can be kept in line by Sheriff Bane since Moore is not the agency leader. Think about how ludicrous your comments are. On the one hand you are saying that Mr. Moore will work out OK as the Warden because he has a non Trooper looking over his shoulder, but if Mr. Moore were Sheriff then he would be just like all other Troopers as he would have no one to keep him in line.
Your comments were out of line from the start. I don’t believe they apply to Mr. Moore or Mr. Gahler. You should apologize for having made those remarks, and find a more appropriate way to support your choice for Sheriff.
@mike Welsh I don’t need to mitigate anything. They are different positions and different people. I know both. There are some troopers I wouldn’t say this about but others I feel completely justified in calling a trooper ‘ s trooper. So let’s clear this up. You don’t agree and that’s your choice but I know each of these individuals (Jeff. Chuck and Bane)and have for very long time periods both personally and professionally. . I actually haven’t decided as of yet who I’m voting for. I lean toward Bane because a known evil is always safer. However don’t lecture me about how I feel or what I think. Just because you do not agree doesn’t make me wrong or you right. It just makes you an asshole for arguing on semantics.
I know a Trooper who came in and he treated us no different then any other Sheriff I worked for. Sheriff Moyer. No Sheriff after him treated the Corrections Officers any different until Bane. Not including the Senior Dfc’s at the Detention center in that special raise pretty much says it all.
I can only think of a few reasons that they endorsed the current sheriff
1) they truly want him…which, if that’s true why would so many complain here and elsewhere
2) they are listening to other people
3) they are afraid to go against him
Clearly, if Bane wins again those who voted for him have no reason to complain. You know what you have.

1.)yes they believe he is the best choice. The people complaining on here use multiple names to make it appear that Jesse is a bad man. The union vote shows that isn’t the case.
2.) not sure what you mean by this? It’s an electronic vote that isn’t done in a workplace setting.
3.) again it’s an anonymous vote done outside of an official workplace setting. If anything they may be afraid of DFC Eaton and his posse, but I’m not.
Yes it is a private vote, yet people were still afraid to vote because they do not trust it will be leaked to Bane. Proud you are not afraid but you still hide behind a fake name, now that shows me you are a man of steal.
If the union had endorsed Gahler and he lost, Bane would make life more terrible for the deputies than it already is. In my opinion they need to stop the endorsements all together. Their eboard is mostly made up of Bane lovers anyway. Doesn’t matter to me because I prefer honesty over Bane anyday. Hr has personally lied to me and I don’t like liars. Gahler, while he may not tell me what I want to hear all the time, has at least to this point not lied to me. That’s how I vote.

I am pleased to see that Steve Trostle received the Harford County law enforcers’ endorsement. With his extensive background in criminal trials, he would make an excellent state attorney. He would offer a much needed, new perspective on how to manage today’s complex court system needs. He would offer a new kind of leadership..

One could surmise that the Deputies are sending a signal that they don’t want to suffer Bane’s retribution for their failure to endorse him by also endorsing Impalaria, a man who has been a thorn in Bane’s side for several years. It’s like…. read between the lines!

There were hardly any endorsements. I see the 7th legislative district. Was a nepotism endorsement for his brother Rick Impallaria. So that carries no weight. I am Glad to see that Sheriff. Bane received the endorsement along with Steve Trostle and Dion Guthrie.

Marc- a few weeks ago you tried to say that Sheriff Bane was harassing white females, and then specifically Cpl Blubaugh. You claimed that Sheriff Bane was harassing her by sending her for a physical, psych test and polygraph. The truth is that MPCTC required this battery of tests and HCSO was just following procedure. This was an attempt by you to make the agency and Sheriff Bane look bad and was a lie.

Marc, you must be doing some funny math because from the above post, I read 222 members voted and only 19 voted for neither. And only 65 chose not to vote. 77% voted which is better than any public election.

There is no mystery as to why the HCDSU voted to endorse Sheriff Bane, safety. Safety for the lazy and unambitious officers in cushy, unnecessary specialized unit positions that risk going back to patrol if Gahler wins. Safety from the union getting the treatment that the HCCA is getting right now. Since the HCCA announced it’s endorsement they have only received one communication from sheriff Bane, that was to set up and then ultimately cancel a meeting with them without giving a reason while going on to meet with the representatives of the HCDSU later that same day. The HCCA knew this was a risk and it took a lot of stones to do what they did and with 80% support for Gahler. To me that should mean a lot more to the public than a split vote tainted by fear of retribution and the possibility of being returned to a position that actually benefits the public but might mean doing some real work.

It is offensive that the Sheriff’s Union is not supporting Joseph Cassilly for State’s Attorney because he prosecuted a deputy for use of excessive force earlier this year. Our law enforcement officers should be held to the same standards as the public, and Mr. Cassilly made a decision to go forward with this case knowing that it was the right and just choice – a choice that was upheld when the deputy pled guilty to reckless endangerment after being charged. The union members should be ashamed for expecting special treatment for one of their own, and for failing to endorse him out of spite. It should be noted that this vote was far from unanimous among the union members. Furthermore, the Maryland State Fraternal Order of Police made the right choice in endorsing Mr. Cassilly, and the public should make the right choice as well.
Isn’t it the Baner’s who accuse Gahler supporters of hiding comments. The second floor and Union Executive board are really busy working on these thumbs down. The comment about the Union vote being maybe not above board proved itself to be true today. The Union Debate video was taken down by the Union that I posted but it seems that the Harford for Owebama blog is free to use it.
I can see why there was concern among Union members about how safe it was to vote on the internet for the support of a Candidate for Sheriff. Bane always seems to keep people around who have integrity issues and uses those people to get him what he wants. I wonder if this is the case of the Union President?
