From the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Maryland Chapter:
The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Maryland Chapter invites the community to help reclaim the future for millions by participating in the Harford County Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, Saturday, Nov. 1 (rain or shine), at Bel Air Equestrian Center (608 N. Tollgate Rd.) in Bel Air.
This event provides an opportunity for the community to learn about Alzheimer’s disease and how to get involved with this critical cause, from advocacy opportunities and clinical trial enrollment, to support programs and services.
“Everyone with a brain is at risk, which makes now the time to join in the fight against Alzheimer’s,” said Cass Naugle, executive director, Alzheimer’s Association Greater Maryland Chapter. “Ninety-seven thousand Marylanders live with Alzheimer’s, and this event allows us every year to come together with our eyes set on the ultimate finish line ¬– the end of Alzheimer’s.”
Registration begins at 9 a.m., when walkers can drop off donations, pick-up t-shirts, take team photos, and decorate posters and promise garden flowers. They also can enjoy refreshments provided by Giant Food and Frito Lay.
At 10 a.m., 105.7 the Fan Anchor Scott Garceau will emcee a powerful opening ceremony focusing on the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association and honoring those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Everyone is encouraged to stay after the 2.5-mile walk for fun activities for the family including the Making Memories Kids’ Corner and music by DJ Ray Sanchez.
Participants can register as individuals or teams. Registration is free and those who raise at least $100 will receive a Walk to End Alzheimer’s t-shirt. This Fall, the Greater Maryland Chapter will host a total of six Walk to End Alzheimer’s events, made possible by statewide sponsors, Genesis Healthcare and Brightview Senior Living. Last year’s events in Maryland drew more than 5,000 walkers and raised over $900,000.

Since 1989, the Alzheimer’s Association mobilized millions of Americans in the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk®; now the Alzheimer’s Association is continuing to lead the way with Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s – the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death.
The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s research, care and support. Its mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
