HARFORD COUNTY, MD (March 30, 2015) – Deputy State Fire Marshals have charged a fourteen year-old male juvenile with arson charges stemming from a fire that occurred on March 18, 2015 at 1607 Perryman Road in Perryman.
The 5:01 PM fire involved a house trailer that was in transition to being used for a full-time residence. Investigators determined the fire originated in the interior of the trailer and radiant heat ignited a nearby shed. Deputy State Fire Marshals received numerous tips and eventually determined the juvenile was responsible. Although no injuries occurred during the incident, the fire caused an estimated $5,000 in damage.
The juvenile has been charged with 1st Degree Arson, 1st Degree Malicious Burning and Malicious Destruction of Property over $500. The juvenile was released to the custody of his parents pending further action by the Department of Juvenile Services. A motive for the fire has not been established.
