From Aberdeen Proving Ground:
ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md.— Personnel are responding to a tether break at the Joint Land Attack Cruise Missile Defense Netted Sensor System (JLENS) location on the Edgewood side of APG. The aerostat moored at Edgewood broke free at around 11:54 a.m.; approximately 6,700 feet of tether are attached. Emergency personnel are tracking the aerostat which is still aloft in moving toward Pennsylvania.
Anyone who sees the aerostat is advised to contact 911 immediately; people are warned to keep a safe distance from the airship and tether as contact with them may present significant danger.
From Raytheon FAQ on the JLENS program:
Can the tether break?
The chance of that happening is very small because the tether is made of Vectran and
has withstood storms in excess of 100 knots. However, in the unlikely event it does happen, there are a number of procedures and systems in place which are designed to bring the aerostat down in a safe manner.

D- Blimp is gone!! says
Post lunch water cooler conversation- Heard there’s few job openings down the hall at JLens. Apparently all you need to know is how to tie a knot that can keep the blimp down.
coincidence says
Is it a coincidence that Harford Campaign for Liberty had a meeting about JLENS yesterday?

I’m disappointed that Rick Ayers didn’t call me. Rick let me down. Rick must be on vacation. This is out of character for Rick. Has anyone seen Rick?

Didn’t see that coming lmao!!! Early detection…
HYDESMANN says
Yikes, another Hindenburg disaster. Me thinks we should take some welfare recipients and station them on O’Malley’s windmills out in the Atlantic to watch for incoming cruise missiles. It might work better and would certainly be cheaper. Another two thousand million dollars down the drain.

I actually felt sadness yesterday as I watched the video footage of our beloved blimp laying in a limp pile amongst the trees. As the errant aerostat terrorized the countryside all I could think of was the scene out of Woody Allen’s movie, “Everything You Wanted To Know About Sex But Were Afraid To Ask” where the big boob was running amok.

supposedly Designed to track flying objects. Yes asks public to help track it because the other one can’t locate it.
Why is this? because they really track ground targets. 2 used in tandem give a three dimensional image of the entire area BELOW it. There used to be a nifty video on Raytheons Web site showing this, but was taken down just prior to the first ones deployment. Remeber they also failed to track the guy who landed a helicopter on the capital grounds.
Wake up.
