From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
On Friday, November 20, 2015, at approximately 5:53 pm, Harford County Sheriff Office deputies assigned to the Southern Precinct responded to the scene of a serious motor vehicle crash on Old Joppa Road, near Janice Court, in Joppa, MD.
Information gathered at the scene indicates the driver of the 2009 Toyota Camry was traveling south on Old Joppa Road, when it appears the Camry crossed the center line, into the path of an oncoming box truck. The driver, identified as Justin Daniel Robinson, age 19 of Abingdon, was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma, by Maryland State Police Medivac helicopter, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Two passengers in the vehicle, a 19 year old male and 15 year old female, were both transported by ground to a local trauma center. The male was treated and released, while the juvenile remains in stable condition. Robinson’s body has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy. The driver of the box truck was evaluated on scene and released.
The Harford County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit responded to the scene to investigate the cause and circumstances of the crash.
Anyone who may have witnessed this crash is asked to contact the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit at (443) 409-3324. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The sheriffs office really needs to step up their game on drivers and enforcement. I watched a lady commit 4 violations within 1/4 mile stretch of 24, almost hit me twice all the while talking on the phone.
They Can’t be everywhere and they can’t fix stupidity.
It wasn’t stupidity. Just because he was young doesn’t meant he was stupid. It’s a narrow bend w/ a bad blind spot.
Gabbz Howard- I was not referencing the young man that was killed. I was responding to a comment telling the Sheriffs Office to do traffic enforcement on Rt 24. I understand emotions are running high on here but before you get angry maybe take time to read a post.
Darwin takes care of that. Bad drivers are everywhere and its obvious everyday.
Have a blessed night
Rt 24 is a State and the responsibility of the State Police.
That would explain why a sheriff was at the scene of the original accident at the intersection of Osborne drive and 24.
Dumb ass.
My comment was in reference to enforcement responsibilities on State versus County roads. Sheriffs Deputies frequently respond to accident scenes to stand by until State Troopers arrive and sometimes handle the accident investigations if the State Police are unavailable. Deputies will also remain at the scene to assist with traffic control or offer other support as may be needed as a professional courtesy. If you truly want to do something about the lady you mentioned at the beginning of this thread you have every right to ask a law enforcement officer to issue the driver citations for the appropriate violations, have yourself written an official witness summons (requiring your appearance in court), and testify against the traffic offender. Your moniker “Too Young” might explain a lack of experience or knowledge about law enforcement function and procedure. Unfortunately it does not explain nor excuse your lack of civility.
Who cares? Most people wont continue to drive like an asshole when they see a light bar on top of something marked “Police” regardless if “traffic stops” are frowned upon off duty/out of jursidiction.
Heck, I’ve seen I95 goobers on the brakes when an out of state police car is running 65 on the far right lane.
Much like everyone else, I experience atypical Harford county driving everyday.
For instance, I’m on the road at 0430 hours, or a few minutes earlier and time or two a month the same jaghoff’ gets behind me. Passes me on double yellow. Check it, the kicker is when he tail gates me (without passing) I notice he turns his HIGH BEAMS on. The real kicker is that I’m in a 3/4 ton pickup, and he’s in a much lower car. His high beams don’t really do much to “piss me off” or whatever his road rage agenda is to do that to someone.
My favorite is when people pass me and I roll up behind them stopped at a red light 3 minutes up the road. Didn’t really get far, did’cha?
Carrs Mill, Grafton Shop, Tollgate, Singer, Laurel Bush, et al what’s wrong with you? Not aware of the new super highway requirement of minimum 50 on a 30? Get w the program.
At the end of the day 1 teen was killed,2 others were hurt and a parent has to bury their child. If one is so concerned about tailgating or passing on a double yellow, call the police in that jurisdiction on your hands free device and give a tag #!!!
At the end of the day its just traffic offenses, they probably wouldn’t found, and even if they did, they would still have to “commit” a traffic offense for law enforcement to make a “stop.”
I’m just sharing daily experiences about how everyone drives really fast and their road rage and distracted driving problems. Its hilarious.
Its not like this behavior is likely to stop either. People drive fast as shit on Route 32 by Baker cementary/Ripken stadium until law enforcement runs “traffic” there for a few hours.
And “Traffic offenses” kill people!!!
Stupidity kills people too. You want to play this game all night, broski?
It wasn’t stupidity. It was a bad turn with a bad blind spot. Justin was not stupid.
He wasn’t texting, he wasn’t under the influence, and he didn’t try to put everybody’s life in danger.
That’s great. Congratulations.
My “stupidity” comment was in no way reference to any one particular person or incident.
Hit yourself in the face with a brick.
It never ceases to amaze me the ridiculous and stupid stuff that people post regarding fatal traffic accidents. Frankly, I should cease to scroll EVER – because it is such a waste of precious time.
Yeah, but you keep coming back for more. Its like a fatal car wreck, you want to see it.
Everyone wants to see the carnage.
His friends & family didn’t wanna see carnage. They just wanted the young lad to make it home.
I know the family of the young man who died. Ignorant people post without any consideration who may read. A lot of assumptions with no facts are currently reported. Please be respectful
Agreed!!! There’s a lot of ignorant people out there now.
Justin was my best friend. I’ve known him since he was 6. We grew up together. Screw all the people that wanna make assumptions about teen driving.
Sheriff should assign a patrol at 755 and Willoughby Beach Road. Every other car in line making a left onto Willoughby Beach Road has the driver talking on their cell phone in the afternoon.
I turned left onto Wiloughby Beach from Edgewood road and this car passed me doing at least 45mph in the 25mph zone.
Out of nowhere a dark tinted car that I could see LED behind the windshield and an obvious non factory antenna came racing by seconds later on the car’s ass until they disappeared.
I never did see the “stop” all the way to Flying Point, must have turned into a neighborhood.
Ordinary citizens aren’t the only offenders of using their phones while driving. I can’t tell you how many times I have witnesses Sheriff Deputies driving with their head down, looking at their phones or just driving around on the phone.
Wether you agree or not they have a public safety exemption under the law. I didn’t make the law so write your local elected officials if you disagree.
I agree with contacting county officials and residents !!….I am his mother and intend to advocate safety awareness and addiontal clearance on that road. Many neighbors have seen dozens of mishaps and serious accidents in the same location and their sick of it!!. Bottom line, if we contribute our hard working taxes to this county then, then we should be heard!! Stupidty is unfortunate ….BUT SAFETY IS PRIORITY!!!!
