From the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company:
The Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company participates in “Super Hero” reading night at Joppatowne Elementary School.
On February 2, 2016, the Joppatowne Elementary School (JES) PTA sent out a call for help. The school was scheduled to hold its reading night on February 3, 2016. The theme of the reading night was “Super Heroes”. Batman was schedule to read to the children. Unfortunately, due to some unexpected business in Gotham City, he had to cancel. Who would read to the children?
A Firefighter from the local fire department, the JMVFC, was suggested. Once word got to the JMVFC leadership, there was no hesitation and the plans were set. The next night, one of our members, in full fire gear, read to the children of the JES.
During the visit to the school, the JMVFC Firefighter also shared important fire safety tips with the children, parents and teachers.
Good practice!
