From Maryland State Police:
On Saturday, April 16th, Troopers from the Bel Air Barrack conducted a sobriety checkpoint on south-bound Route 24, south of Ring Factory Road. 342 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, eleven of which were pulled to the shoulder for further testing. Two of those drivers were arrested and charged with driving under the influence and two others were charged with CDS violations.
As Troopers were preparing to close down the checkpoint, the last vehicle failed to stop, accelerated and sped through the checkpoint at a high rate of speed. Troopers and Deputies pursued the vehicle, which failed to stop. The pursuit ended when the driver turned down a dead end road and was taken into custody. The driver, Alexander Ramirez, 26 of Perry Hall was charged with DUI, fleeing and eluding and several other traffic charges. Kristy Abell, 26 of Fallston, who was a passenger in the vehicle was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and fail to obey a lawful order.
Troopers from the JFK Highway Barrack and Deputies from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office also participated in the checkpoint. The State Highway Administration provided equipment and set up the checkpoint lanes. Deb Hardy, from Mothers Against Drunk Driving attended and observed the checkpoint. Ms. Hardy’s daughter Janet was killed in a crash caused by a drunk driver in 2003.

What time was this checkpoint in operation?
You're an Idiot says
Well, common sense says at night with SHA “equipment” to ASSume light towers, trucks, and blinking yellow “lights”, cones.
DUI checkpoints are usually always at night.
Mr Ramirez violation time was 1:36am according to his case search.
Ms Teary says
Oh, and Kristy, about being arrested for disorderly conduct – that’s what we like to see in the ladies from Fallston – Class.
hmm... says
Ms. Hardy should have been given the opportunity to shoot the drunk driver that murdered her daughter. I know I would. Killing someone while drunk should carry at least the same penalties as premeditated first degree murder. If that “affluenza” kid had killed someone I loved I’d kill him myself then offer myself up for the 6 months in prison per person they gave him. I’d even do his full two years to see him dead.
