UPDATE: Ricardo Muscolino charged with 1st Degree Murder, 2nd Degree Murder, Assault 1st Degree, and Use of Firearm in Commission of a Felony.
A suspect is in custody following a domestic related shooting that occurred Wednesday night in Fallston.
On August 31st, at approximately 11:38 p.m., deputies from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Northern Precinct responded to a residence located in the 2300 block of Windswept Court for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located a female victim suffering from multiple gun shot wounds to the upper body.
Deputies assumed life saving measures until the victim was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center by Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The deceased is identified as Lara Muscolino, 48, of the 2300 block of Windswept Court, Fallston, Md. The body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where an autopsy will be conducted to confirm the cause and manner of death.
While deputies were at the residence, the suspect, Ricardo Muscolino, 54, of the 2300 block of Windswept Court, Fallston, Md. turned himself in to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Northern Precinct Duty Officer. Ricardo Muscolino was detained pending further investigation.
The Harford County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigations Division, have assumed the investigation. Detectives assigned to the Forensic Services Unit responded to process the scene for evidence.
Investigators continue to investigate a motive; however, preliminary information indicates this was a domestic incident between a husband and wife. The couple’s three children were at home at the time of the incident, but were not injured.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Detective Seth Culver at 443-409-3498. Those who wish to remain anonymous may report their information through the methods listed below.
If the information you provide leads to an indictment of the individual responsible for this crime, you may be eligible for a cash reward up to $2,000.00.

You would be wrong. The only 2 towns I have lived in in Harford County are Aberdeen and Edgewood. I only comment under one name, and quite often it is in response to similar comments to the one that prompted this response. I think that a lot of commenters on this site fail to see the human side of the news. This story is not one to joke about.
I know Ricardo personally. , I don’t know what happened that night none of us do. But I will tell you the man I know is a laid-back non-confrontational man. I understand what you are saying about the regional bias that lives in our county. It has been there as long as I can remember. People from the Northern part always have felt superior to ‘Sloppatown’, ‘Edgeweed’, ‘Aberdump’ and Havre ‘Disgrace’. I have heard them all; as I mentioned, I am from Edgewood. That was not the nature of my comment. I understand that LULZ was ‘pointing out the rhetoric’. It could have been his comment, or the following comments about the value of the victim’s home, or making this issue into a gun control debate. So they paid a lot for their house. What if they rented a place in Seven Oaks? Would that make this more tragic? Less tragic? What if the family were my relatives and lived in Aberdeen? Why should that matter?

Growing up, my parents had very little money but we were a very happy family (mom, dad, and 4 kids including myself) living in a tiny house. I believe we would need another court case to reverse Heller, so we can’t completely ban “handguns” either. Id suspect a Heller reversal is more likely than anything else.
Intermediate scrutiny has been applied to ban a large amount of long guns in recent Maryland law, so I think a Federal ban is a good start.

I knew this couple very well. He was very abusive and she was always fearful for her life. She was too afraid to divorce and leave him. His friend called me tonight and told me that Ricardo had proof that Lara was having an affair and when confronted she admitted to it and was going to leave him. He then blew her away thinking that if he couldn’t have her, no one could. Very, very sad!!!

Ridiculous statement. This lady was a nurse anesthesist. She was an accomplished advanced practice nurse and hardly needed a man to support her. I feel badly that she lost her life. I feel even worse for the children and other loved ones. Domestic violence cuts across all socioeconomic levels. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
My daughter is good friends with the kids. My heart aches for them so bad and I’m so sorry they had to go through this. I will do whatever I can to help those kids get through this. I’m just shocked right now and can’t believe it. 🙁

Let’s hope that bail is not granted in this case and he stays in jail where he belongs. There have been too many criminal cases in Harford county where the defendant is granted bail by some judge and the public is placed in danger.
This should not be one of those cases where the defendant hires a high powered lawyer and then the judges and State’s Attorney all keel over and everyone in the court system agrees on a light sentence. This case needs a stiff sentence like jail for life or the death penalty. But too often with privileged defendants there are just slaps on the wrist. Look at what happened in the Kenneth Borys case, which involved a tragic hit and run death in Fallston. Borys ended up getting only 1 year in the Harford County Detention Center since 9 out of his 10 years were suspended. He is also eligible for work release so he can go to his job. So basically he gets free housing and medical care for 1 year despite his actions. He was also allowed to finish his senior year at Towson U and graduate before reporting for jail. Unbelievable. Can’t believe the voters keep voting to reelect or retain these people. All, that should not happen here. Let’s have real justice for once.
