Golls Bakery? Seriously? I didn’t even know they were still in business! They’re never open when you drive by….I thought the store was abandoned.

The “violation” was one that we have remedied already. Our custard, pumpkin and cream pies have been tested at a Baltimore facility and have an “out of refrigerator” shelf life of 8 – 10 hours. Health department tried to tell us that we had to keep them refrigerated out in the store. We have been putting them in our showcase every day for 80 years and all of a sudden the health department has a problem with it? We agreed to the testing and are still allowed to leave them in the showcase without refrigeration. As far as the place looking abandoned? We still have our same hours…Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 7am – 5pm and Saturday 7am – 4pm..closed on Sunday and Wednesday. We ONLY make eclairs in the cool temperature months so that they do not spoil. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the bakery. We have nothing to hide and would appreciate you asking us before you believe any of the rumors you read on the internet or that you may have heard. Thanks…Deb Goll

Actually, Ed, I was just there and had the best experience. The new menu was well thought out with reasonable prices. They are making their own desserts and have an excellent new wine list.
While I was there, they had an artist painting a really cool mural on the walls depicting a horse racing theme. I was told that they are changing the name to go along with the new theme.
All in all, a wonderful experience and we will return

We go to Bulle Rock for special occasions and love the place. Aside from the great food, when you order a Martini or Manhattan, they serve one in the glass along with a little shaker on ice as a refill. A nice touch. And a great wine list, I agree.

Bulle Rock was a famous race horse in olden times; seems like the name already fits the new theme.

“Violation: Potentially hazardous food must be held at proper temperature. Food must be held at proper cold temperature.” If I were the supervisor of the people who wrote up these horrendous violations, I would fire the bunch of them. Crap, just send every food establishment a postcard once a week that says “Potentially hazardous food must be held at proper temperature. Food must be held at proper cold temperature.” Just think of the money we could save in this department. If the write up said, “Joe’s Slop Shop, Violation: Beef was left out on the counter overnight”, or perhaps, Sally’s Soda Emporium: Milk being used that over one year old”, I might think there is a problem but the crap above is just that CRAP.

      Well said David. Dittos!
(although the Family & Children’s Services should probably get their sewage disposal system repaired) That may be a little (in your term) “crappy”!

It’s called job security. As long as something is cited it looks like they are really doing their job and earning their pay. What a waste of time and paper to even write this nonsense up. Like Dave said,a reminder in the mail once a week would save a lot of money.

Instead of Clark Turner trying to get more money from the county he may want to clean up his resturant. I agress with Ed Hale that place needs work, also you would think that the real places that need checkups should be done.

Bel Air Bakery’s are pretty good too. If you are in the area, I would suggest you try a couple.

Golls have been in business long before I was born and I am 54. I have a treat from that wonderful place at least twice a week along with my young son and neither of us or for that matter I have never heard of Anyone getting Ill from something consumed from there. The Ladies behind the counter are always plesant and greet you with a big smile and a hello. Sounds like an “Inspector” came through while they were crazy busy and found a bowl of custard that was not the right temp. Kinda chicken poop

Did anyone at the health department check to make sure their thermometer was calibrated and correct? Sounds like a lot of nothing to me. Are there any job openings at the health dept?
