Aberdeen Man Faces Drug, Auto Theft Charges in Separate Weekend Incidents

May 28, 2013 By Dagger News Service 38 Comments

From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:

[May 28, 2013 – Bel Air, MD] — On May 25, 2013 at approximately 5:30 p.m., deputies on routine patrol in the area of Route 1 and Route 136 were dispatched to the Queens Castle Mobile Home Park in Dublin for a report of a black male operating a green Mercedes and alleged to be selling narcotics in the mobile home park.

On previous occasions, the Sheriff’s Office had received similar calls regarding this same male suspect and had been surveilling the area. Deputies arrived and observed a green Mercedes leaving the Park. Deputies followed the vehicle further observing the vehicle to drive into and around the NBRS Bank at Rt. 1 and Rt. 136 acting in a suspicious manner. Deputies then stopped the vehicle at Rt. 1 and Rt. 136 identifying the driver as William Oglesby, 28, of 421 S. Law St. in Aberdeen.

Deputies then requested an MSP K-9 to the scene to conduct a drug scan of the vehicle. Upon getting a positive alert from the canine for the presence of a controlled dangerous substance deputies checked the car and retraced Mr. Oglesby’s drive around the bank. As a result they found a clear medium sized bag containing a powdery like substance with multiple pre-packaged baggies lying on the ground just before the drive thru at the rear of the bank. A field test revealed the substance was suspected crack cocaine.

Mr. Oglesby was placed under arrest for CDS Possession, sale and manufacturing as well as several traffic violations. During the process he suffered a panic attack and began vomiting. After telling deputies he was ok they continued transporting him to the Detention Center. Upon arrival at the Detention Center Oglesby began vomiting again, this time inside the holding cell. Deputies checking on his well-being learned from Oglesby that he had swallowed numerous medications along with a small quantity of heroin. Oglesby was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center for evaluation and treatment. He was later released and upon return to the Detention Center was seen by a Harford County District Court Commissioner where he was held on $25,000 bond, which he later posted. Oglesby was released at approximately 6:30 p.m. on May 26th.

Then on May 27th at 9:49p.m., just over 24 hours since his release, deputies responded to 6 James Ave., Bel Air, in reference to a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was described as a 1988 white Dodge work van with PA license plates.

A lookout was immediately posted and at 9:55pm deputies saw a van matching the description entering the Wawa store at 601 Hoagie Drive Bel Air. The van parked in front of the store and deputies saw a black male later identified as William Oglesby, 28, of 421 South Law St. in Aberdeen get out of the vehicle. He was immediately detained while responding deputies investigated the alleged theft.

The owner of the van, David Crothers, 46, of the 1000 block of James St. did not know the suspect and stated he did not have permission to have the vehicle. The operator of the van, Daniel Harris, 21, of the unit block of James Ave. said he heard the van start and saw it drive off leaving James Ave. and heading towards Route 924. He too said Oglesby did not have permission to have the van. This information was then relayed from the scene to where deputies had Oglesby stopped.

Deputies then attempted to place Oglesby under arrest. He tried to run from deputies and resisted arrest but was immediately apprehended without further incident. He has been charged with motor vehicle theft and resisting arrest. Oglesby is currently being held in the Harford County Detention Center in lieu of $15,000 bond.

Gotta love it. Arrested twice within 48 hours for various drug related, auto theft, resisting arrest charges, etc and he only has $15k bond.

This is the point that many of us realize but our politicians can’t seem to grasp. What does this guy’s record look like prior to last weekend? Should he even have been on the street to begin with? So now he adds two more serious offenses to his record – any bets where he’ll be over the next 6 months? Right back on the street. Add a weapon to any of these charges and there is no difference at all – right back on the streets. We have a major judicial problem in this country and jail is no place to “rehabilitate” criminals. Repeat offenders make this their business- they don’t care about our laws, or any other laws the pols want to advance. Sickening.

To add insult to injury, if you’re an average middle class family man with no prior criminal record caught with a handgun in your vehicle when you stop to get a hamburger at the drive-through on the way home from the gun range, you’ll do a year in prison…

No kidding Kharn – our laws are so backwards it would be funny if it weren’t so serious. O’Malley-types around the country may feel good about their dictatorial mandates and laws but they do nothing to curb criminals. Justice for a career criminal is no freedom – a life of very hard labor and Spartan conditions. But it feels so good to advance “one of the nations toughest gun laws.” Has anyone been paying attention to our news lately – our murder rate, and more importantly the violent crime rate (stabbings and assaults included) are through the roof. How many of these criminals are first time offenders? My bet is zero.

O’Malley was a good mayor, his ideals and politics are best suited to the restrictive confines of a city under siege. As for a Governor, he is mediocre at best. His attitude toward gun reform is totally unconstitutional and we don’t need any more rights taken from us that we haven’t already had taken. Yes, crime has spiked and the best defense is a good offense when dealing with the criminal elements of malicious intent. You are 100% right about repeat offenders of acts of violence being released back into society far sooner than they should. But, I will say they are way too many people doing time in jails for crimes that don’t reflect violence or any real harm to the public or have little to no victim impact. These are the sentences that need reform because of prison over crowding and financial burden. However, Child Molesters, Rapists, Murderers, Robbers, etc. all need those enhanced sentences that they are not getting. You can blame whoever you want, but it takes a State’s Attorney or one of his Assistants to structure these “deals” that let the violent offenders out early and a Judge to go along with it. Now there lies the real problem……..

Not everyone is racist, i agree Kingpin is wrong. But at the same time talking trash does not help your brothers case. It just shows the sad lifestyle he was brought up in or chooses to live in. Such a pity people pick the wrong path.

Such a pity people think they are “Holier than thou” and judge the path of others that have good reason to be upset.

HE COMES FROM A CHRISTIAN HOME AND WE WEREN’T BROUGHT UP THAT WAY. YES HE’S WRONG THERES NO DENYING THAT, BUT HE’S (KINGPIN) NOT THE JUDGE OR THE JURY. IF IT WAS HIM OR ONE OF HIS RELATIVES WOULD HE WANT THE SAME TO HAPPEN TO THEM?

I don’t think she is pulling the race card, “String Him Up”, is a racist comment. How can anyone twist it to not be a racist comment? Especially when you wrote that ebonical reference of, “You all’s”, in your last sentence. You are not a “Jack Rabbit”, you are a “JackAss”.

The commissioner that set the bond so low must have been that big old lazy woman with the long nails that doesn’t like to help white men who are being abused by their ex wives get ex-parte’ orders. Reverse racism. How do you get a $25k bond for distribution of crack, then a $15k bond the very next day for grand theft auto and resting arrest? Homey’s gonna shoot somebody next, wait and see. He’s got nothing to lose now.

Man!, this guy has a never ending list of being a law abiding citizen and community supporter. Dam!! As our elected “liberal” elected officials would say, “It’s society’s fault and not an individual choice nor responsibility.” Leading to a undesirable outcome and one day this “prize/role model” is going to seriously hurt someone, and it won’t be himself. It’ll be a innocent bystander. So sad.

Seriously, if the participants on this discussion don’t see a racist innuendo in the “String Him Up” comment, its just because they are racist and they lack thought in their actions. African Americans were frequently hanged by racist groups, such as the KKK, all throughout the history of Black America. Whenever the comment, “String Him Up”, is used against an African American, it is meant to be derogatory and remind us that Blacks used to hang on a regular basis. You guys on here are quite frankly, beyond all hope to recognize this because your probably all Klan members. I can see all you guys riding up to Rising Sun, drinking a few beers and then go trolling the local neighborhoods to find a negro to lynch up at your next meeting. Sad thing MADBLACKWOMAN, is that these posters on here are trying to actually get you to believe that the comment wasn’t meant to be racially inflammatory, when anyone with sense knows the truth.
