Rep. Harris Opposes Senate Fiscal Package; “It Just Kicks the Can Further Down the Road”

October 16, 2013 By Dagger News Service 33 Comments

From the office of Congressman Andy Harris:

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Andy Harris, M.D., released the following statement on the fiscal package proposed by the Senate:

“I cannot support a package that continues spending at a level that does nothing to reduce the 650 billion dollar deficit this year or deficits in future years, continues special treatment for members of Congress from Obamacare requirements, and continues accounting gimmicks. I have voted three times to fully fund and over a dozen times to partially fund parts of the government. This government shutdown occurred because the Senate and President insisted on special treatment for large corporations and for themselves and their staff. Unfortunately, the Senate bill addressed neither. It just kicks the can further down the road.”

Not sure about Andy but, my plan would be to continue “spending like drunken sailors” (maybe it’s more accurate to say “spending like it’s other people’s money”) and to sell our debt to China. They only hold 3.7 Trillion of our debt. I think there’s real honor and integrity in saying you’re a “free” country that is owned by a communist one. Apparently, it’s the American way.

Where did you get your numbers? foriegn held debt is only 4.5 trillion all together. China is the largest foriegn holder at 1.2 trillion. The Social Security Trust Fund is the largest holder!!!!

Yes. They have been robbing the Social Security Trust Fund for years! Now they are having to begin the pay back and they don’t like it because the “real” money is not there to pay back. Thus, more debt is created. Round and round it goes, where it stops, no one knows.

I love how “only $4.5 trillion” rolls glibly off your tongue, Cdev, like it was chump change. Of course if you are planning on paying it with other peoples money – and you are – then to you it probably is chump change.

Social security, military pension, and civilian employee pensions own a good chunk of the debt as well. That will be when these big gov stooges realize their mistake, when they realize their retirement has already been spent.

The plan CDEV is to stop the $90 trillion unfunded liability bleed that our elected employees appear to favor and have no intention of tourniqueting. Our nation has been irreparably harmed thanks to the greed of those we’ve voted for and trusted.

Yes, K, that is the plan. But Cdev doesn’t want just any plan he wants a plan that he thinks is ‘reasonable’. And the only plan he thinks is ‘reasonable’ is to let the Lib/Dems spend everything they want to spend and more so that they can get re-elected over and over and jam their agenda down everyone’s throats. Meanwhile they write themselves out of the requirements of most legislation because they don’t actually want any part of the legislation but think it is plenty good enough for everyone else. Limousine liberals.

Next on the agenda is immigration. But wait, why would we encourage immigrants to come illegally to this country – which they are doing in record numbers – while we have an extremely high unemployment rate among young black males? Because Cdev doesn’t give a flying fig about young black males but loves the idea of more and more illegal immigrants with voters cards. That’s why he is the racist that he loves to call everyone else.

Thanks, Andy. We knew you would represent us to the end when most others have caved. Looks like they bought McConnell for $3 billion. I keep thinking back to a book by P. J. O’Rourke where the title started with “Parliament of . . . ”

But don’t give up. Last night was just the first inning of a much longer game. We are going to do this again and again and again and again. And if the liberals don’t like it then too bad for them.

This is the third time Mr. Harris has voted to push our economy over the edge (fiscal cliff, debt ceiling 2011). I mean is the word yes in his vocabulary? Also, it interesting Mr. Harris fails to note the deficit is falling at the fastest pace since WWII. Finally, he failed to note that the by the end of the President’s term the deficit will be around 3% of GDP( it was around 11% when he came into office!). So Mr. Harris, please spare me the country is collapsing under the weight of its own deficit/debt and go out and pass some legislation that tackles our unemployment problem and our broken immigration system. I pray to God we vote Dr. No out in 2014, we deserve better than this crap.

      Young American,

I guess you didn’t get to that math class yet. The national debt, which you are going to pay, buster, is growing by about a trillion dollars each year. And you have fallen for that ‘national deficit is falling’ crap? You must have had Burbey for economics. Don’t worry about me because I’ve got mine protected. The losses these guys are racking up comes from your wallet and from that of your children. We are trying to reverse that and you, you young dufus, are saying you don’t give a crap. Put your cell phone down, get off facebook and twitter and get your head out of your butt.

If you had any brains you would know that of the 17 trillion in national debt Obama owns 7 trillion of it. If you knew anything about math that is equal to 41% of our total debt. Furthermore your tax obligation for the national debt is now roughly $115K.

Harris is not voting to push the economy over the cliff. The 14th amendment spells out very clearly that “The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned”.

What this means is that the President took the oath of office to uphold the constitution and is sworn to uphold the constitution of face impeachment. The U.S. government brings in roughly 10X the monies required to pay the interest on the debt we carry as a nation. The president is required to pay the debts as required by the constitution without question.

The congress (who controls the budget) comes to an agreement to fund the government. The current president under threat of a default has threated to violate the constitution by threatening to NOT pay the debt obligation of this nation thus violating the 14th amendment.

If I were in the House, I would have refused to raise the debt ceiling and made Obama spend within what budget that was eventually agreed to. If he refused then I would have immediately had his ass brought up on impeachment charges for violating the 14th amendment by allowing the county to default on our debt obligation.

Actually the house pays the bills. Had they not raised the debt ceiling it would have been congress and not the preznit in violation of the Constitution, and had that happened I’m sure the Preznit would have instructed the treasury to continue paying the bills while charges where brought up against Cruze the canadian to have him removed from his elected office.

When you become an old idiot hopefully you will understand how things in government work.

Oh my, Seriously, not at all until the next election. This puppy is going to surface again in January so I would take that in to consideration during the last part of December if you celebrate any holidays at that time. And we are going to do it again and again and again until we get spending under control. And you use the term “compromise”? You make me laugh. It was your president who said there would be no negotiation. The Lib/Dem idea of compromise is ‘do it our way or else’. And the answer is going to be ‘else’ at every turn.

I’d expect no less coming from an asocial critic of all things not conservative. Pay more taxes or expect fewer services. You can start with the DoD, Farm Subsidies and Oil Company Subsidies. And the Teabaggers have demonstrated their irrational use of power to obstruct and deny and scream for attention.
