Special to The Dagger
The Aberdeen IronBirds this week released the preliminary roster for their 2010 season, which kicks off Friday at 7:35 p.m. against the Hudson Valley Renegades. The roster features seven players from the Baltimore Orioles’ 2010 draft class, including 13th-round pick Jeremy Nowak, an outfielder from Mount Olive College, and 15th-round pick Joe Oliveira, a catcher from Pacific University.
The roster is currently composed of 31 players: 15 pitchers, four catchers, eight infielders, and four outfielders. Manager Gary Kendall said that many of the infielders, including Mike Flacco brother of Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, will be given time in the outfield to see where these players can help the team and the Orioles organization as a whole.
The Dagger will have a complete season preview Friday before the opening game.
