A Baltimore City elementary school teacher faces multiple sex abuse charges after Harford County Sheriff’s deputies discovered him with a 15-year-old boy in a parked car in a Bel Air residential community early Saturday morning.
Mark A. Hyzer, 25, of Baltimore, a fourth-grade teacher at Beechfield Elementary Middle School, is charged with third degree sex offense, fourth degree sex offense, sexual abuse of a minor, and second degree assault after a report of a suspicious vehicle led deputies to the 200 block of Victory Lane in Bel Air at approximately 12:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Sgt. David Betz of the Harford County Child Advocacy Center.
Betz said the vehicle’s windows were fogged and the pair’s clothing was in disarray when deputies arrived. The victim, a native of the Bel Air area, described sexual acts which had taken place, and Hyzer confirmed the teen’s account. Betz said it is believed that the acts were not forced.
Hyzer was arrested and held at the Harford County Detention Center until a bail review, which was scheduled for 1:15 p.m. Monday. The outcome of that process was not immediately available.
Hyzer has been placed on leave, according to a release from the Baltimore City Public Schools system:

Absolutely sickening and thank you for someone taking the time to notify someone of something suspicious. This goes to show that vigilance is needed everywhere in the county, no matter where you live. There is no such thing as a “mayberry” in Harford County, and those who still think so please put you head back in the sand and close the door to your glass house.
Now hopefully this young man can get some help and this guy gets significant years behind bars and not out on the street in 3yrs. My question is as to what relationship this teacher had being from Baltimore as the article relayed, and hopefully there aren’t any other children. Check the child sex offender list and stay updated folks!

The Baltimore sun has confirmed he is indeed listed as a 15 year old, thats a minor. For the record DJ, since your so quick to jump up for the authentication of ID’s, take a trip to your bar and grill and ask some of the owners about the authentication methods of some of these great fake ID’s these days.

I don’t know what is more shocking the post on here making it seem as if this individual just ate somebodies cheesecake in the company fridge (with obvious post-it note) or the fact that we seem to think this teacher used just poor judgment. Wake up folks there is a 15 year old child, which could have belonged to you or me, who was taken advantage of by a Maryland entrusted teacher. Do you think this young man was the only child to be assaulted? We’ll let the investigation play that out. The young man had a facebook page with a profile of 18 and therefore met up with this “teacher” in which he was caught. If it was not for the initiative of a resident to report something suspicious who knows how long or how many people he could have impacted physically and/or emotionally. Girl or boy, if it was your child I don’t think we’d be so laissez-faire.
And just for you knowledge DJ, there was another attempted sexual assault which took place less than 500yds from the Deerfield/Edgewood Middle/HS complex recently in which a man lured in another man and handcuffed him to a bed for sexual favors, luckily he escaped. I’m sorry but we rationalize to many types of behaviors as being acceptable, just to please ourselves. Is any type of sexual behavior acceptable in the parking lot? Definitely not with a minor!
Angie, I am in total agreement with you, but it is worse. It wasn’t in a parking lot, off to the side, out of sight out of mind. This sexual deviant was performing obscene acts in a residential neighborhood, on Victory Lane in Bel Air. They were doing it infront of someones house. It almost sounds unbelievable.
He is a teacher, he could have gotten a room somewhere, but he probably figured the motel clerk would call the police when they saw him taking that boy into a motel room.
Teens engage in it all the time,Anytime any place. My son said to me one time, my girlfriend is going you spend the night, I said if she sleeps in the other room. He did not like that, he said where do you want us you do it, in the car, motels are to expensive. Her parents ran a motel. How about some self control. Own your own place first, become an adult. It’s hard to run your house one way when others do it another way. I was not an angel as a teen, but you learn from your mistakes. In a country where you can get less than 10 years for murder. We have to deal with this problem of leniency for the sex crime criminal. I was not concentrating on a location no place is acceptable. These people that break the spirits of children need to pay for their sins
Never judge a man until you have walked in his shoes . This whole scenario is BAD judgement on the teachers part and on the teens part cause when it all comes out the teacher will probably beat the charge ( if you knew all the circumstances , u probably would agree ) . I do agree that parking on the side of the road in front of someones house especially in HARFORD CO. was a BAD call that i know he regrets . I just hope that all parties involved have learned a valuable lesson .
