From Harford Campaign for Liberty:
Good Day Everyone,
Please join us this Friday 7/1/11 to protest Barack Obama’s illegal War in Libya.
President Obama is waging an illegal war in violation of Article 1 Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution & the War Powers Resolution of 1973.
The War Powers Act demanded that he get approval for the War from the Congress before Sunday 6/24/2011, but he has refused to do so.
Yet the war continues. He spent weeks going to the U.N. & NATO lining up this war yet he does not feel he should seek the permission of the representatives of the men and women he is putting in harm’s way!
Therefore, the time has come to stand up & be counted.
It’s time to publically let our representatives in Congress we know that we expect them to assert their authority per Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution & the War Powers Resolution & as a co-equal branch of government.
It’s time to publically let Obama know that we expect him to abide by the rule of law as the chief law enforcement officer of the United States.
Please join us in front of the Bel Air Courthouse this Friday July 1st from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to protest President Obama’s abuse of power & hold him to account.
Will you stand to demand our leaders abide by the Constitution & and the rule of law??
How long will we permit this state of illegal war & the violation of the rule of law to continue? Let’s join together to show Obama that we cannot afford his illegal wars!
Bring a sign, and we’ll see you at 4PM!

It’s so inspiring to see the Campaign for Liberty standing for anything but.
Ryan Burbey says
Where were they when W invaded Iraq?
Dave Yensan says
Do either of you suppose the fact that W went to Congress and got authorization? Dislike either or neither conflict, but don’t twist the logic. Barry went to his advisory and legal beagles and kept looking until he found some that agreed with him. Then he operated without so much as informing Congress. That is the huge difference. By the way Barry was opposed to the invasion of Iraq.
Sheeple says
W did what was required of him first and went to Iraq with permission from Congress.

W lied to congress and campaign for liberty lies what it stands for. How unsurprising that you don’t see anything wrong with either.
Looking forward says
Let’s see here–
Libya is a debacle. Our soldiers and money there is just as big a debacle.
Can you socialists (Burbey and Anonymous) look at this issue without coating it in W?
We all agree that Iraq was stupid, but your HOPE and CHANGE president doesn’t have the cajones to bring home the troops.
W left office 2.5 years ago. We are still torturing people, we are still waging illegal wars, and we are still bailing out big banks.
When there is a socialist in the White House, where is Code Pink, the Union activists, and the MoveOn.org folks? Where are the war protests?
The question is not “where were you during W’s reign of terror,” but “where are YOU now?”

Looking…you have hit the nail squarley on the head. Its the Dempublicans war now. Don’t expect any intellectual honesty from the Socialist-Democrat party now. They are firmly committed to the intellectual satisfaction of fueling their narcissist now. Make them & him feel good. Don’t expect any consistency. Come on now…..

It is a rather sad state of affairs I must say to read the post of Anonymous & Mr. Burbey. Both reflect the sad state of academic & political education in America today. This is especially disconcerting in Mr. Burbey’s case. I would expect more from someone who publically holds himself out as a representative of the teaching profession in Harford.
The fact is that C4L does not lie about its purpose. It is concerning with LIMITED government, the rule of law per the Constitution, sound money & a non-inverventionist foreign policy. It is concerned with these issues in America & with its ccitizens not in Libya or elsewhere. We fought a revolution for these princicples & deposed a king. Now it appears we have a new King who disregards the law of the land. Article 1 Sec 8 gives Congress the power to declare war. The War Powers Resolution of 1973 allows the President to commit U.S. forces for 60 days only in 3 specific circumstances: “(1) a declaration of war,
(2) specific statutory authorization, or 3) a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces.” It also states: “The President in every possible instance shall consult with Congress BEFORE introducing United States Armed Forces into hostilities or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances, and after every such introduction shall consult regularly with the Congress until United States Armed Forces are no longer engaged in hostilities or have been removed from such situations.” Clearly none of the threats to America authorized by law for the use of force in Libya exist & the President didn’t go to the Congress. He spent 2 weeks lobbying the U.N. for the OK. Yet he didn’t care enough for the men & women he was putting into harm’s way to consult their elected representatives. As a result the Libyan War is in fact ILLEGAL. Typical narcissistic behaviour on the part of Obama. It’s all about him. Always. As mentioned previously, whatever you think of Bush, I’m not a fan, he did ask for a vote & plenty of Dems said OK.
Thus, C4L is standing on the correct prinicples, the founding principles of our nation. Mr. Burbey, I would recommend to you something that you likely have never read which outlines a responsible U.S. foreign policy & which you could share with your student to good effect. Sec of State John Quincy Adams said this on July 4, 1821: “she (America) goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own. She will recommend the general cause, by the countenance of her voice, and the benign sympathy of her example. She well knows that by once enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself, beyond the power of extrication, in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy, and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standard of freedom. The fundamental maxims of her policy would insensibly change from liberty to force. The frontlet upon her brows would no longer beam with the ineffable splendor of freedom and independence; but in its stead would soon be substituted an imperial diadem, flashing in false and tarnished lustre the murky radiance of dominion and power. She might become the dictatress of the world: she would be no longer the ruler of her own spirit. America’s glory is not dominion, but liberty. Her march is the march of the mind. She has a spear and a shield: but the motto upon her shield is, Freedom, Independence, Peace.”

Nice to see that Andy Harris stood up alongside the mis-named Campaign for Liberty to be counted as a coward and against the promotion of Liberty. I move you change your name to the Klan for Liberty since we all know why you’re against Obama. Longwinded BS postings are just that.
