Aberdeen Mayor Mike Bennett and Patrick McGrady, his opponent in Tuesday’s municipal election, will both appear live on WAMD 970 AM radio Monday morning.
Twenty-four hours before Aberdeen residents head to the polls to cast their vote for the man they hope to see serve as their city’s mayor for the next four years, Bennett and McGrady will appear on The Morning Show with Maynard Edwards and Cindy Mumby.
Bennett’s segment will air live at 7 a.m. Monday and will be followed by McGrady live at 8 a.m. Listeners can hear the interviews at 970 AM on the radio or streamed live online at http://www.khztv.com/wamd/. Aberdeen will also elect its city council on Tuesday, but there is no opposition to the four incumbents – Ruth Elliott, Bruce Garner, Ruth Ann Young, and Sandy Landbeck.
Aberdeen citizens can vote from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Aberdeen Senior Center at 7 Franklin Street. The absentee ballot return deadline is 5 p.m. to City Hall or 8 p.m. to the Aberdeen Senior Center polling place on Election Day. The official election results will be certified by noon on Friday, November 11 and the swearing in ceremony for the mayor and city council will be Monday, November 14 at 7 p.m. in the city council chambers.
Mayor Bennett just said that he “lowered the taxes” in Aberdeen. Everybody’s taxes went up, because the assessments went up. The spending has increased, and people’s tax bills have increased. How does this get called a tax reduction??
