From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
[July 23, 2013, Forest Hill, MD] — On July 22, 2013, at approximately, 8:00 p.m., Harford County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the unit block of East Jarrettsville Road in Forest Hill for a report of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Upon the arrival deputies found EMS personnel from the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company treating a 28 year old male on the front lawn of the home. After being treated at the scene the victim was subsequently transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police Medivac.
Detectives investigating the scene determined the injured subject and his 35 year old wife were having domestic issues and became involved in an argument. A physical altercation ensued whereby the male subject pushed and shoved his wife refusing to allow her to leave the home. The struggle continued to a point where she saw her husband fire a round from a rifle in her direction. The bullet missed her. The male subject then turned the weapon on himself shooting himself in the face. The female victim ran outside of the residence and asked neighbors to call police. She then saw her husband come out of the home and collapse on the front lawn.
The female victim suffered minor injuries and declined medical assistance. The male subject remains hospitalized in stable condition and expected to survive his injuries. He is facing charges of 1st and 2nd degree attempted murder and 1st and 2nd assault. He is expected to also undergo an emergency psychiatric evaluation.
