This is sure to fire-up the NIMBY crowd, even though it serves the greater public good.

      Nope. Stover.

But you do realize that this property is residentially zoned and could be a sea of townhomes?

It could also be downzoned. That would be a surprise in Developer-Friendly Harford.

I too am surprised Snee isn’t somewhere.

Stover used to work for Snee.

What you are suggesting, though, would be a taking. If you are so concerned, why don’t you buy the property?

I don’t care if it the red sea and Moses is parting it. It is still a waste of money.

I can’t wait to experience a peaceful evening concert in the outdoor amphitheater right next to the soothing sounds of heavy traffic on Route 24.

Could they have picked a worse location? I guess the median strip of I-95 wasn’t available.

Obviously most here have no idea what the will of the owner deemed about this property. She specifically willed the property to the county to be used to benefit the arts and provide a park for the public. If the county is unable to fulfill this provision the land reverts back to the estate and can be sold for any purpose within its zoning. This is prime property along Rt 24. The amount of property owned could support two massive superstores, shopping centers, large institutional buildings or hundreds of homes, most of which would get giant incentive packages and tax breaks to build. In addition to providing a place to learn, perform and enjoy the creative arts, it provides a large park for public use. Why would anyone be opposed?

The Center for the Arts will be a spectacular monument to the vision of our Harford County artisans and the triumph of the human spirit.

It will soar, like an artist’s spirit. My only regret is that it will not be accessible by citizens throughout the region, which is why I hope funding is secured for a bus line or rail system in the future.
