From Maryland State Police:
The driver of a tractor trailer traveling the wrong direction on Interstate 95 for nearly eight miles is arrested after fleeing police and endangering the lives of highway workers and motorists in the area.
The accused is identified as Maurice Cooper, 37, of Haverhill, Florida. Cooper was taken into police custody this afternoon without incident. Pending consultation with the Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office, Cooper faces the following charges: attempted second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, assault of a law enforcement officer, theft and other related traffic charges. Cooper is currently awaiting an initial appearance before a court commissioner in Harford County.
Shortly before 12:30 p.m. today, troopers from the JFK Highway Memorial Barrack responded to the Maryland House Travel Plaza for a reported theft. Upon their arrival, troopers made contact with a male victim who told police his jacket and keys were stolen while inside the travel plaza. The victim notified police the suspect was the driver of a specific tractor trailer.
While the victim was informing police of the theft, personnel from the MDTA Courtesy Patrol Unit who happened to be in the area, advised police of a tractor trailer exiting the travel plaza on the wrong side. The tractor trailer was traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-95, driving against traffic.
With lights and sirens activated, troopers began to follow the tractor trailer in an attempt to stop the driver while calling the barrack to request additional troopers. State police in their marked patrol cars with emergency lights activated shadowed the tractor trailer from the southbound lanes of I-95 while other patrol cars traveled north bound on I-95 towards the tractor trailer.
After approximately three miles, the driver stopped the tractor trailer on the fast shoulder in an active work zone where several highway workers were conducting roadwork. A trooper exited his vehicle in an effort to make contact with the driver who was endangering the lives of numerous motorists and highway workers, and climbed on to the passenger side step of the tractor trailer.
Through an open passenger side window, the trooper made several verbal requests for the driver to shift the truck into park and hand over his keys. In response to the trooper’s request, the driver accelerated into the northbound lanes of I-95, again traveling south against northbound traffic.
Concerned for the safety of the motorists and pedestrians in the vicinity of the moving truck, the trooper continued to yell at the driver to stop, but he refused. As the driver continued to accelerate, the trooper was subsequently thrown from the truck onto the highway. The trooper suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene.
Preliminary information indicates the driver continued to drive against traffic for approximately four more miles and crossed all lanes of northbound I-95 to the slow shoulder into a construction zone where he made a U-turn and continued north on I-95.
An off-duty police officer, aware of the ongoing incident, followed the tractor trailer as it exited off of I-95. A helicopter from the Baltimore County Police Department responded to assist and located the tractor trailer as it pulled into a motel parking lot in the 1700 block of Edgewood Road in Edgewood. According to witnesses, the driver then fled on foot into a wooded area behind the motel.
Troopers on scene immediately established a perimeter with the assistance of deputies from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office. During the search of the area, police along with a K-9 from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office tracked the suspect. The suspect, later identified as Cooper was located along the wood line and taken into custody without incident.
Throughout the incident, the JFK Highway Memorial Barrack received numerous 9-1-1 calls reporting the tractor trailer driving against traffic on I-95. There were no reported crashes due to the tractor trailer driving against traffic nor were any injuries sustained during the incident.
Investigators from the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division North will lead the investigation as it continues. Any witnesses to the incident are asked to contact the JFK Highway Memorial Barrack at 410-537-1150.

Ok, I will stipulate to the eventual need for the implementation of green energy. During the transition period large quantities of fossil fuels are still in demand. What was your guy’s logic behind eliminating our energy independence and relying on other countries and incurring exorbitant unnecessary expenses? I think he was bullied in to it. Tell me that Dylann Roof doesn’t deserve the death penalty. He was the white Supremacist who was the perpetrator of the 2015 Charleston SC church shooting that killed 9 African American people while they were attending bible study. It is hard for me to understand why people employ a situational “sliding scale” when discussing the topic of capital punishment. Sometime it’s barbaric and sometimes it’s not.
It is called an eye for an eye and it is an appropriate punishment for the crime of both situations. Intent to harm innocents is easily proven in both cases. With that in mind, an execution is appropriate.

It usually concludes that an offenders heinous and despicable conduct basically has forfeited their right to continue to live in a civilized society. The Charleston church shooting in my opinion clearly qualifies. Now you inject the issue of abortion in to the equation. Regardless of whether you are pro life or pro choice there remains one constant. In the case of abortion the respondents (those lives or soon to be lives, depending on your opinion on when life begins, will be eliminated. Whatever or however you wish to classify the situation no act against humanity or any persons have been perpetrated. There are many different opinions pro and con regarding abortion but to attempt to utilize it in an argument regarding Capital Punishment is ludicrous.

Without attempting to gloat I was pleased with the results of the Tuesday elections. First it delivered a heavy blow to the CRT initiative. In earlier posts I relayed first hand accounts of a police officer, who happened to be a black man, regarding the problems associated with the CRT curriculum in the jurisdiction that he was worked. The takeaway for the young children was division, conflict, and in some cases violence between black and white children. I am a strong supporter of a concept I will label as CCT. That is Critical Civility Training. Certainly the issue of slavery must be included in an American history curriculum which would be taught to children of older and less impressionable ages. The first and most important issue to be taught is civility, respect, and peaceful interaction. Probably the most hilarious takeaway was watching the meltdown of Joy Reid. She is arguably one of the most divisional racist people in the media. I like to refer to her as the George Jefferson of MSNBC. She is in my opinion a pompous, opinionated, ignorant racist. At least George Jefferson was funny to watch. Lol. It is not hard to understand why Ms. Reid has the rating numbers she has.
The good news is the $1.2T infrastructure bill was finally passed by Congress. “Exceptional Joe” and the Dems now have to go to work and make sure the Build Back Better social spending bill is the best it can be and that it’s paid for. The stock market is up nearly 20% this year, 5312K jobs added in October, more people vaccinated, and new Covid 19 treatments on the horizon. Things are getting better!
The $1.2 Trillion infrastructure bill was passed with the help of certain Republicans whom did vote for the Bill when “The Squad” wouldn’t vote for it. However, the economy is stagnant, materials are VERY expensive and inflation is creeping up on everyone. This isn’t the time to spend money and something like this should be done when the economy is thriving and materials aren’t as high as they are right now. There simply isn’t enough money to pay for materials and the salaries of workers in order to accomplish the task of the bill that was passed. Unless, of course, massive tax hikes are used to pay for it. The stock market is being artificially stimulated by foreign countries whom back the agenda of the Democratic TRAITORS Against America. China is who is buying the stocks. Traditionally, when stocks do well Gold goes down. Gold continues to climb as does the stock market. Only a moron would actually believe the claims you are making and only a moron would believe that more people getting vaccinated with a vaccine that doesn’t work, has caused serious side effects and deaths, is still in emergency use and is nothing but using Americans as guinea pigs. With all the vaccinations, misinformation and mask wearing we still see COVID and this is because you can not simply rid civilization of a respiratory illness. If you could there would be no common cold or the traditional flu. The COVID treatments you mention are interesting but what about the treatments that already exist and have been falsely demonized for political purposes and to put money in the pockets of the manufacturers that brought us the opioid epidemic with full governmental approval. Bob, once again you’re an idiot. If we’re doing so well how come inflation is running rampant? How come we are paying more for and using all this foreign oil? Why was the Trump era energy independence policies canceled that allowed America to produce as many barrels of oil as we needed instead of relying on foreign oil? I have been asking since before the election for anyone to explain to me as to why Mr. Biden is qualified to be POTUS. The only answer ever given was 40 plus years in government. Before I can answer your question I think it would only be fair for you to answer that question. I need to know what qualities, if any, that you think he possesses to assist me in answering your question. I am sure that that whatever name I were to proffer you would expect me to articulate as to why this person should be considered more competent than your guy. At this time it is hard to narrow it down to just one person. It is not hard to come up with someone with more intelligence, more balls, greater integrity and less of a history of hypocrisy and questionable personal and family behavior than your guy. While we are asking questions I have one. Prior to the election I commented that the Durham report would expose significant misconduct being perpetrated by the Democrats. You subsequently commented that the investigation was losing traction and basically was unfounded. Do you feel the same way now? According to a Washington Post Editorial the judge in the Rittenhouse Murder Trial overruled objection by the Prosecutors and “will allow the jury to see a video of police thanking and giving bottles of water to a group of vigilantes, but he won’t permit a video of Mr. Rittenhouse declaring 15 days before the shooting “Bro, I wish I had my [expletive] AR, I’d start shooting rounds at them” about people he suspected of shoplifting. Most glaring was the judge’s decision that the people who were killed could be called “arsonists,” “looters” or “rioters” if they took part in these activities but could not be called “victims.”
So far, the judge’s decisions in this case seem blatantly unfair and prejudicial, to me.

The Judge in the Rittenhouse case has continued to build on some of his ridiculous pretrial rulings with even more pro-defense rulings and bizarre courtroom shenanigans. His actions have pretty much poisoned the trial and has probably prevented the rendering of a verdict by the jury. I suspect it will be a hung jury, predominantly favoring a “not guilty verdict” with several dissenting.

I too think that this sentence was excessive. Convicted murderers usually generate 7-15 years of actual time served. Possibly an argument regarding a violation of the 8th Amendment might be considered. I can only hope that a punishment of that level was not administered for other reasons and I will leave it at that.

First of all I am glad that you brought up this topic because it segues into a concern that I have had for several months. That concern regards the shooting of Ashli Babbitt at the Capital on 01/06/21. I have read countless accounts regarding that shooting incident and viewed a video account of same. Bob I believe you too reviewed the video and commented something to the effect that the you did not observe a situation where deadly force was warranted. As a career police officer it is well known that application of deadly force is a last resort when other options were available and you are required to preserve the lives of others or yourself. The video clearly shows that Ms. Abbott was unarmed and on the other side of a barrier when she was shot and killed by Capitol Police Lt. Michael Byrd. I will submit that she was attempting to breach that barrier when she was shot and killed. Lt. Byrd was later quoted as saying he acted as a “last resort” stating he “saved countless lives” It is my assessment that there were multiple non-lethal options and a sufficient window of time to apply them. The media subsequently reports that Lt. Byrd was cleared of all wrong doing by both the Justice Department and is agency. How can an unarmed person positioned behind a barrier be an immediate threat to anyone? I would be interested in viewing the use of force policies of the Capitol Police and would like to see a video account of the hearing. In my opinion and in the eyes of countless police professionals Lt. Byrd acted inappropriately. I have to suspect that clearance was made possibly for partisan political reasons. A sustained act of improper conduct by agents of the government resulting in the questionable death of a protester would have seriously diminished their standing and credibility. Bob I might be asking a lot but please consider this point and consider the hypocrisy. Lt. Byrd was a black police who shot an unarmed white female who was behind a barrier. Suppose during a BLM protest a group forced their way in to a government building. Interesting scenario. I understand where you are going but I a am only familiar with MD law. The laws regarding the right to carry handguns and long guns differ considerably. Handguns require a permit to carry and long guns do not or at least they didn’t when I was in the game. As I recall it was not a violation to carry a long gun, sword, spear, club etc unless you were carrying it openly with intent to injure. It was a violation to possess a “loaded” long gun in a vehicle. In reference to your scenario I concur a guy carrying an assault type rifle across his chest in a volatile environment would make me feel very uncomfortable. I am not sure that “starting to feel threatened and in fearing for your life” without further articulation would be a justifiable shoot. These days there are hundreds of cell phone cameras out there. Bottom line is the Police could NOT do their job, as they were too busy defending their own PRECINCT, yet alone trying to protect the city from rioting, looting and burning down the city. That militia went there to protect businesses and private citizens during a time of civil unrest and were being attacked by those whom seem to think their cause was greater than the rights of others whom had no culpability in the problem they were supposedly protesting. CNN, if you can believe them, reported that he is going to release 50 Million barrels of oil from our nations strategic reserves to relief some of the price burdens of gas impacting Americans during the holiday season. I guess the people pulling his strings didn’t consider resuming our own ability to produce fossil fuels in our own country. Maybe they convinced him that oil coming from the reserves is cleaner than what we can produce on our own at far less cost. No matter where you get it there is still, and will be for some time, a need for it. My biggest question to this guy is this. I was having lunch with some old retired police buddies of mind and we talked about old times and current issues. We all seemed to agree that the time to be a Cop has passed us bye. I never agreed with utilizing deadly force for property felonies but it happened fairly regularly. As I recall flash mob smash and grabs were an anomaly. I’m not advocating the resumption of the indiscriminate use of deadly force but it is time for zero tolerance enforcement and lengthy incarcerations. We need to incentivize business investment, along with skills training, in the city. The only way to combat violent crime is to give police the authority to combat violent crime. You sometimes have to fight fire with fire and in this case you must combat violence with violence.
Colin, the problem is not isolated to ‘gun violence’ as gun-grabber Bob likes to allude… it is all crime. If, however, we isolate murder; in 2019 we find the city had a 32% clearance rate. That means over 2/3 of the time, crime pays in Baltimore City. You do not have to be a statistician to see that. The states attorney’s office is a national embarrassment. They think a 32% clearance rate is working hard, I suggest it is hardly working. The common thug piling up 300+ murders each year knows s/he has little prospect of ever seeing a jail cell.
As a taxpayer, before one more dollar gets flushed down the toilet that is the city… how about they clean up the corruption first? If Catherine Pugh could find over $100,000 to cart kids to a protest rally in DC, but could never find money to operate the schools (while pocketing a matching amount through a corrupt arrangement), then I suggest the city has great amounts of money stashed away or find better managers of that money. SC I have asked numerous times for someone on this thread to help me understand why they would describe Mr. Biden as “exceptional”. I listened to the oral arguments before the Supreme Court this week on Mississippi’s abortion bill. The questions raised and asked by Barrett and Kavanaugh were of particular concern. I believe the court will allow Mississippi’s 15-week bill to stand. However, I don’t believe they will overrule Roe v Wade. If they did, the “stench” would be overwhelming.

Why would a term limit be needed in regards to the interpretation of Constitutional Law? The Constitution is timeless and so should the opinions of that court be timeless. If there is no Constitutional Authority to enact a certain law then that statute or Amendment is VOID. The government can’t give itself a power or authority that was not ordained and when they do it is FRAUD. When a Supreme Court Justice makes a decision of LAW that is unconstitutional then that same Justice is guilty of TREASON and should be removed immediately. There is no such thing as an unconstitutional precedent because that which is unconstitutional is NULL and VOID. Any case where an unconstitutional decision was made can be reheard due to the FRAUD it represents. There is many a subject that has been incorrectly heard and ruled upon. It is time for us to bring this government to its knees and make its employees pay homage to WE THE PEOPLE. The NEW DEAL is over and the GREEN NEW DEAL is dead before it even arrives.

Biden’s Supreme Court Commission issued their final report (300 pages) today with no formal recommendations. There was no support for packing the court. They did however note there was bipartisan public support for 12 or 18-year term limits.

First, you didn’t answer my question (your willingness to do so is addressed below). I asked what advantage there was to politicizing the SCOTUS with term limits. Simply not agreeing it is not politicizing is not an answer. You cite accountability, but an INDEPENDENT judiciary is answerable to the Constitution, not the popular will of the people. The popular will of the people may find that cheap, enslaved labor is a great idea… an INDEPENDENT judiciary can sit apart from the political process that thought that idea was good and judicially review that such a ‘law’ violated the Constitution. If a majority of the people felt it was an acceptable idea – regardless of what the Constitution says, thus judicial review – then an INDEPENDENT judiciary is there to correct the error. This is what I mean when I say you are unarmed in this conversation. You seem to lack the basic understanding of the Constitution and founding ideas that were argued in Philadelphia.
With respect to bipartisan support… who cares? The two major parties do not have a problem agreeing that crushing third, fourth, etc., parties from national elections. They can agree on that. I disagree. See how that works? I do not give a flip what ‘bipartisan’ anything supports.

Each of the Justices apply their interpretation of the Constitution when rendering decisions. Sometimes their decision may not support my more conservative views or your more liberal views but a decision will be made. That decision is or will be public record for all interested parties to see. Therefore whether you agree or not accountability is in place. Once again, the Constitution is timeless. If it is unconstitutional, it is illegal or an over reach. Over reaches are NOT law. Over reaches are a means of political persecution introduce by TRAITORS in legislature. Common Law is NOT a work in progress and the only way to alter the Constitutional Common Law is by Constitutional Amendment. Even then, the Amendment MUST be within that which is ordained or it is an over reach. Packing the Supreme Court to satisfy a political party is an act of TREASON because the Constitution doesn’t see politics and is specific in its design and intentions, which would NOT be followed by either political party. The fact is those whom came before us allowed an illegal and unconstitutional government to grow like a cancer. Term limits are unnecessary in regards to the Supreme Court. Well, common law is actually written in precedence. That precedence does require a measure of flexibility of what reasonable people can expect under reasonable circumstances. You are correct common law is not written in stone, but it is also not written in sand either.
Civil law… not sure what you mean by that. Traditionally it is the body of law outside criminal acts… there is a segment of that which falls under the notions of common law if not explicitly than implicitly. You need to clarify that for me.

Well I would like to know what the Dagger readers feel the outcome of President Obama’s buddy Jussie Smollett false report trial should be. The trial doesn’t seem to be getting much media coverage from CNN and MSNBC. Furthermore, If Mr. Smollett is in fact found guilty, does anyone feel that the “Exceptional Leader” President Biden should offer an apology or at least a retraction to the American people for his premature editorializing regarding the incident that he made while he was on the campaign process which probably increased unnecessary racial divide.

I too think that the in the case against Mr. Smollett the evidence is prima facile and overwhelming. This is my take for what it is worth regarding Mr. Smollett. During his publicity stunt it resulted in over 3000 hours of unnecessary police investigation in the city of Chicago. Those resources could have been used for far better reasons to include other actual crime investigations, crime prevention, and patrol to name a few. It can never really be determined what crimes could have been prevented or if lives could have been saved but the actions of Mr. Smollett could have very well negatively impacted crime and harm. The people being most victimized in the Chicago area seem to be people of color. It seems to me if they truly cared, representatives of BLM should grab him up and yank a knot in his ass and I don’t mean in a way that he would enjoy.

For a long while, dating back to before the Presidential election, I have requested for someone to help me understand why one would consider Joe Biden was the most qualified choice for POTUS. The only justification given to date was that Mr. Biden served in Congress for many years and was a US born citizen old enough to hold the position. I was really not impressed by the response. A few thoughts for your consideration. First to your declaration about “Exceptional Joe” no doubt he is, but not in a positive sense. It seems that he bumbles through the day and bungles everything that he touches. The real tragedy is that he depends on people, like you, to shill his failures as success and provide a false hope to people who cannot help themselves out of their situations.
Now to your comments on reducing the price of gas and beef. First lets review previous examples of government intervention into markets. Recall a few years ago that Maryland deregulated utilities. The three components of the electric utilities, production, distribution and wheeling were separated. As part of the deal, the utility agreed to a reduced rate structure for consumers. Consumers paid an artificially low rate for electricity for a fixed period of time. At the end of the period, rates were returned to market. Consumers were faced with rates significantly higher. That is fact, and was caused by the state legislature. Shortly after that there was a natural gas shortage, about the same time that Maryland utilities were allowed to purchase forward contracts for electricity, that caused another increase in rates. Additionally look at the state of California. California deregulated about the same time as Maryland. They did not allow forward contracts for electricity. Electricity was purchased on the spot market. When temperatures rose in California unexpectedly, there was no electricity to purchase, except on the spot market. The only company that supplied electricity was ENRON, at highly inflated prices. Also consider the country of Venezuela. Gasoline was heavily subsidized, until the subsidy became too costly. Now, there is a shortage of gasoline, and about every other consumer stable. Poor management by government. Now did President Biden really reduce the price of gasoline. Not really, last year a gallon of gasoline was about $2.17. Now about $1 higher. Cause, reduced supply, result demand pull inflation.
On to the price of beef. Two factors of inflation, cost push, demand pull. Beef prices are fixed in the open market. Cattle are a commodity. Price of beef varies on a daily basis. Ranchers sell contracts for delivery in the future, to anybody who wants to buy a contract. On the given day, cattle are delivered to the buyer, usually a processor. At the processors, cattle are killed and butchered, and sent out to retailers or wholesalers, who also have contracts for delivery. The question is how to reduce the cost of beef. Pay ranchers less? Pay workers on the processing floor less? Demand that wholesalers and retailers charge less? Reduce consumption? And if any of the individual groups agree to accept less, how long will that last and what will happen next. Obviously some simplifications.
I should believe that before you speak up for anymore of this silliness, you would do more research on the topic, to avoid looking foolish.

First to the consolidation of the meat processing industry. When a seemingly small number of corporations consolidate in the market, they may enjoy an enormous economy of scale. That alone allows them to achieve efficiencies and offer lower prices. Additionally, within the industry itself, there is a massive capital requirement for those efficient operations. It would appear that the meat processing industry is not sufficiently lucrative to lure private investment to achieve the economy of scale or efficient operations of a new competitor. I doubt seriously that President Biden is going to provide funding to a new competitor. More likely he will merely complain, and give people a false hope of a better outcome. Or just stir up divisiveness within the consumer base adversely affected by his policies. Finally, if you or anyone else has evidence of anticompetitive practices in the industry, please do advise the State Attorney General.
Second, competition does not portend lower prices. If could be that there is some other tangible benefit to competition. More variety, better quality, more availability. Lower prices may result, but only when there is cost margin that can be reduced. Do some research and let us know whether there is room for lower prices within the structure of the industry. Or if alternatively we are all well served by the industry
Finally, regarding your statement that I or anybody else is “picking on” your hero “Exceptional Joe” Time to remove the blinders. President Biden is failing in his policies, and quite obviously in his mental abilities. Pushing him in front of the public, where he stumbles, and looks foolish, is uncommonly cruel. Further, cattle, pork and poultry commodity market will be roiled disastrously. As to a special investigation into anticompetitive practices, anti-trust violations. Do you have any specifics? Combined with a toleration and celebration of pictures of not-so-funny comediennes holding decapitated heads of presidents (whatever her name was), declaring people deplorable (Hillary, the irony), creating hoaxes to frame politicians (some still believe the Russian story), enabling and colluding with undocumented citizens to disrupt elections (NY Democrats wants illegals to vote), and – honestly – every manifestation of traitorous behavior… it tears us apart.
I am not confident the steady attack on religious institutions (gathering for sports is okay, but worship, not so…) and personal freedoms (oh boy…) will abate any time too soon from the left. The Democrats certainly showed their hands in this last election. The program (the For the People bill, laughable on so many grounds…) they put together and attempted to hammer through against the American people is very revealing.

Does anyone beside me see the hypocrisy here? The most heinous abuse of justice in history was the actions of the Democratic run Justice Department and the upper level management of the Capitol Police. Unarmed Ashli Babbitt,a protester, was shot to death by Capital Police Lt. Michael Byrd. Miss Abbitt was on the other side of a barrier which she would have had to climb up and over before making contact with Lt. Byrd. Lt. Byrd attempted to justify this shooting by saying “it was a last resort”. Video accounts confirmed that Miss Abbitt was not a threat. The shooting was inconsistent with any use of force procedures in any police department in the country. It was clearly an unnecessary bad shoot in the eyes of any professional police officer. Lt. Byrd was not only cleared by a partisan Democratic Justice Dept. siting “insufficient evidence” to support a violation of the civil rights law. Lt. Byrd was also cleared of ALL improper actions by the Capitol Police. It is obvious that an incident with the severity and consequences of the Babbitt would very much muddy the water in their case against Me Trump and the actions of a partisan Democratic government. In short she was sacrificed. In the eyes of the Democratic machine her death was justified to facilitate their needs . A write off. You talk about a bunch of low self serving bastards who will resort to anything to accomplish their goals. What you call “irregularities” are and will continue to be looked at on an ongoing basis. So far the courts have dismissed just about every case of voting fraud or other irregularities. I expect, when all the investigations are completed they won’t find much.

5. The Constitution originally designed a republic that balanced the interests of the federal government under the executive, the states under the upper house, and the people under the lower house. Has the 17th Amendment strengthened or weakened the republic by removing the states from this balance of power?
These are all softball pitches you should be able to hit way past the fence… pick one. Be brave. Use that brain. And sorry, CNN cannot help you on this one. I’d wait for your response, but I know you cannot do it. Enjoy your day.

Hello everyone. I took a break from the Dagger from Saturday at 1/8 at approximately 5 PM to relax and spend quality time with my wife, grandchildren, and to watch football. Very enjoyable. Today after the grandkids left and most football games were over and things settled down I checked out the Dagger to see what I missed. My last posting contained some observations that I had made regarding an insecurity complex that I thought Bob might be exhibiting. To me he seems to want to address some feelings of intellectual inadequacy by constantly trying to be what is known as a “one upper”. Case in point he spent approximately 4 1/2 hours Saturday attempting to counter poster “UrKidding” who appears to be a lot sharper than he is. Over that period he made several efforts to counter him. I personally would not allow my own insecurities to consume me but that is me. God only knows how insecure Bob gets when he feels the need to respond and come out on top with a really smart guy the likes of Mr. Mallamo a guy who appears to be highly intelligent and on point. Somehow he seems to obtain some type of vicarious gratification from being a Dagger antagonist. Possibly it satisfies his need to make people think he is highly intelligent. Maybe it goes back a long time. Maybe he was the last one to be picked for a team during recess. Maybe kids used to call him names. Maybe he never won a spelling bee. Whatever the case he like UrKidding , SoulCrusher, Blue, myself and many others make the Dagger very entertaining. For the record I think Bob is a reasonably intelligent guy. That gives a politician up to 18 years to do nothing. Also, it would be good to go hand in hand with the suggested 18 year term limit on the SCOTUS. In other words, you could certainly make those appointments guess work all around.
I would actually enjoy a system knowing a senator had realistic hope of only voting for – at most – 1 or maybe 3 appointments.

Does anyone feel that Justice Sotomayor should consider recusing herself from any decision making regarding Covid-19 matters due to her obvious lack of statistical knowledge of the subject matter. She recently cited information and statistics in a public statement which were blatantly incorrect. If she does not see the need to recuse herself shouldn’t she make an on the record correction to restore public confidence in her future decision making. Whether intentional or not her statements did seem to support the government’s pro-vaccination narrative/arguments which have yet to be addressed in the court. Doesn’t seem to pass the smell test. Hopefully she was just misinformed.

Garland’s nomination. No, it should have been blocked the way it was. He had the votes to defeat the nomination and should have gone that route. Granted it would have been a waste of time and effort, but at least it would have been a good faith effort to block who – as pointed out – we now know would have been a DISASTER on the SCOTUS.
The ERA. I do not believe it ‘should’ be added since we already have the 14th. Having said that, however, it ‘ought’ to added to ensure fairness of opportunity to all. I’m not confident, though, that the increasingly nonbinary left cannot support it any longer.
The “For the People Bill”, it is not an act until it passes, which it has not. Calling it an act before it qualifies is a deceptive tool. What am I opposed to in it?
First, same day registration. This provision reeks out loud of corruption on a biblical scale. There is no defense for it. It creates a level of confusion that frankly no system can prevent from occurring. Further it would take – I suspect – months to sort it all out, and as we’ve seen we need to rush to certify ballots. Not good.
Second, all the commissions recommend even splits of bipartisan representation – what about third, fourth, fifth parties? Why this legislative attempt to trim out third party voices? What are they afraid of? Why silence the fastest growing affiliations in the country? Oh, that might be why… corrupt.
Third, the voting by mail. Hands down the stupidest idea conceived. Patrons are discouraged from sending cash in the mail… but the vote? Either promote cash transactions by mail or end the push to vote by mail. Cannot talk out of both sides of your mouth and expect to be taken seriously.

I believe the first time I used “exceptional” as a descriptor for President Biden (Uniter-in-Chief) was in the context of a comparison with his predecessor, the Divider-in-Chief. The truth be known. Compared to Trump, Mickey Mouse would be an exceptional President. Thereafter I changed it a bit and christened our President “Exceptional Joe”. I did this more to poke at OYE, than anything else. Remember, this is a secret. We don’t want to upset OYE and send him over the deep end.

I put a number to set a minimum for you, make it easy. If this current disaster in the White House is a vast improvement over the previous, then listing everything each and EVERY American is enjoying would be exhaustive. So, I just ask for the top 5.
As for the cases… again… the SCOTUS decides anywhere between 80-150 cases in each term. You made the claim they need reform. I sensed this extended from the hissy fit of the Kavanaugh debacle and the oral arguments over a recent abortion case. Since neither of those even move the needle on the need for reform, I gave you an opportunity to literally make the case for reform. I can readily accept and weigh an argument made with articulate reasoning based on decisions handed down, which would have been from the previous term. Thus, not needing an exhaustive argument citing between 80-150 cases, I made it simple to limit it to 5, or even 1 was my last request. For much needed reforms, in your eyes, this should be easy.
But, Bob… here you are trying to play the part of the intellectual… you are thinking by criticizing the question or even the grammar used in an online blog like this amounts to anything other than the obvious… avoidance and deflection. I believe same day registration is a positive thing. Twenty states, including Maryland, already have same day registration. It doesn’t create corruption or confusion. And it doesn’t create month long delays. Already in those states that permit it voters must generally provide proof of residency (e.g., utility bill, pay stub) and identity (e.g., driver’s license) at the time of registration. What it does do is that it makes it easier for people to vote and that’s a good thing.
There is a USA FactCheck of the either/or situation you try to lay out regarding mail in voting and mailing cash. You might want to check it out. I tried to include the link in a previous post. Saw a report last night about mail in voting, and the deep concern is securing the drop boxes. The opportunity for destroying ballots is ripe, and let us not kid ourselves… depending on the district the deed was done, there may not even be an investigation. Remains a ‘no’ from me.
To dismiss concerns like this as mere distraction only reinforces that one side is confident the results will always be favorable. I’m of the opinion that votes should not only be cast, but counted. I’m also of the belief the dead should not vote and you should only vote once. A friend in PA received seven ballots last year. Seven. He did the ‘right’ thing and turned the extras in to the election office, did everyone else that happened to? We will never know. Think about that.
The ‘ease’ of voting only obfuscates concerns over election confidence. Access to the ballot is easy. I’ve never had a problem casting my ballot – even absentee. Registering yes, I tried one time when I relocated to do so at a booth at a fair where the parties were registering voters. It happened to be a Democratic booth, and they refused to let me register as unaffiliated at their booth, would not even give me the form to file myself. Hint – you now know why I see the Democrats as I do. Hypocrites and corrupt.
Why are you concerned with the use of fascist? It fills the bill – perfectly. If the Democrats do not want to be called fascist, then stop this quest of making the US just like 1930s Germany. Everything you post and say suggests to me that political science was not something you invested much time or effort in previously. May I suggest you study the ‘democratization’ the Democratic Party embraces, hint… look south of the US. Spend some valuable time learning about the dictatorships of Central and South America. I just watched a portion of a speech made by President Biden and it came to me. If you were to have watched one of the Hot Shots movies which aired in the early 90’s you would have seen a character “President Tug Benson”played by the late Lloyd Bridges. I accept the above Covid data as factual. I was fully vaccinated and received the booster and recently contracted Covid. The symptoms were minimal. Originally Dr. “Flip Flop” Fauci told us that the vaccine would prevent people from getting the Covid virus then he changed gears and stated that it would not prevent infection or transmission but would possibly reduce the severity. This in affect supports the Supreme Court’s recent decision addressing government overreach regarding mandatory vaccine mandates. The ruling supports the rights of individuals to make their own decision regarding the vaccine. As per the most recent information presented by Dr. Fauci and echoed by President “Tug Benson” Biden the vaccine does not prevent infection or transmission. It is hard to make a public health argument that “it is an epidemic of the unvaccinated “. Vaccine or not people will become infected. I believe in the vaccination and the booster but it is hard to make an argument regarding individual choice for or against it. I feel that the Supreme Court made the right decision.

A family of 6 that I know just had COVID sweep thru their household. 5 of them caught it and were over it in 3-4 days. Only 1 of them did not test positive. She was 14 and got the vaccine about two weeks before it swept thru their house. 4 adults were vaccined and boosted, yet caught it.
