The Board of Education of Harford County met in an open business meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012, in the Board Room of the HCPS/A.A. Roberty Building and took the following actions or received the following presentations:
Recognized the following:
Witnessed the ceremonial signing of the agreement between HCPS and the Harford County Education Association (HCEA) and the Association of Public School Administrators and Supervisors of Harford County (APSASHC) regarding the new Teacher and Principal Evaluation model that will take effect next school year.
During the Superintendent’s Report, received a presentation regarding the new Maryland Accountability Program with respect to School Progress Index (SPI). SPI scores were released by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) today. More information regarding the new accountability program and the school scores can be found by logging onto www.mdreportcard.org.
Received a presentation from Mr. Ryan Burbey, president of the Harford County Education Association (HCEA), regarding working conditions and economic comparisons.
Approved the Consent Agenda:
– Minutes of Previous Meeting: December 3, 2012
– African-American History Month and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
– Maryland Reading Month
– January National Mentoring Month
Approved the 2013 Legislative Platform as previously presented with the elimination of any reference to school choice with the addition of the executive summary. After the November 19th Board meeting, a committee made up of four Board members and two staff members reviewed and discussed the recommended platform.
Received a presentation on 2012 Enrollment and Projections.
Received a presentation on the Superintendent’s Recommended FY14 Operating Budget.
