Notice of New Items Accepted by the Harford Office of Recycling

From Harford County government:

(Bel Air, MD) – The Office of Recycling has announced the addition of new items being accepted at the Harford Waste Disposal Center in Scarboro.

Effective immediately, the Office of Recycling will accept certain electronic equipment. Among the items now being accepted for recycling at the Scarboro landfill include televisions, however no console or projection TVs, CPU’s, monitors, keyboards, printers, laptops, scanners, central processing units, power supplies, cables and cords, as well as DVD players, small electronic appliances, miscellaneous circuit boards, chips and cards, telephones, including cell phones, answering machines, stereos, fax machines and video display devices.

The expanded list of electronic equipment and items will be accepted at the Harford Waste Disposal Center six days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Additionally, these items will be accepted without charge by Harford County.

Best Buy And Geek Squad Employees Make A Difference At Boys & Girls Club

From the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County:

This Saturday, October 24, from 9 AM to 2 PM, volunteers from Best Buy and the Geek Squad will be joining millions of volunteers across the country to make a difference in their own community. They will be at the Edgewood Boys & Girls Clubs renovating the computer lab and learning center and installing a total of 17 brand new computers and a projector. This project is one of thousands across the country scheduled for the 18th annual Make A Difference Day.

Burglary Suspect Found Using Computrace LoJack For Computers

(Harford County, MD – May 23, 2009) -Harford County Sheriff’s detectives have arrested Gabriel Christopher Dell, 18, of Parkville, MD in connection with a burglary and theft which occurred January 22, 2009.

On January 22, 2009 deputies were called to the 900 block of Garland Court, Bel Air, MD, in reference to a reported burglary and theft. Stolen during the burglary were a 27″ Insignia High Definition LCD television, an X-Box 360 gaming system, and a Dell Inspiron laptop computer, all having a combined value of over $1,500.00.

Computrace LoJack for Computers, a computer software based security program, was installed on the Dell laptop computer prior to it being stolen.

In March of 2009, detectives were contacted by a Computrace Theft Recovery Officer who indicated the stolen laptop had been utilized to access the internet from February 14, 2009 to March 5, 2009. The IP (Internet Protocol) ...Continue Reading

Verizon FTTP / FIOS Project Information For Harford County

(Bel Air, MD – March 24, 2009) – - Verizon will begin installation of their FTTP (Fiber To The Property) Project in the Harford County Road Right-of-Ways this week. The project will begin slowly in the Bel Air communities and expand to the Aberdeen communities in the next few months. Eventually it will extend into the Abingdon, Edgewood and Joppa communities in the next few years.

As each area of construction is completed, Verizon will begin installing their FIOS (Residential Connections) in areas which are available for service, at their schedule.

In an effort to organize this construction effort and deal with the many possible calls which will be received by various County Departments and Agencies, the Department of Public Works, in conjunction with Verizon, is requesting that all complaints regarding this construction activity be directed to the following numbers:

Del. Stifler: Support Repeal of the Computer Services Tax Tomorrow in Annapolis

I would like to extend an invitation to everyone concerned with and affected by the computer services tax to attend the Public Hearing tomorrow, Wednesday 12th, supporting HB 187, 196, 253, and 326. The Public Hearing will take place at 1:00 pm in the Ways and Means Committee room.
