Is this 4 shootings this month?
Somthin’s gotta give !
Zero tolorance worked in NY…no excuses…it brought many into the system where they were being ignored when they comitted petty crimes. Warrents were discovered….fingerprints connected them to crimes…and in a short time things started to change for the better.

This may seem a small point by many but to me it’s huge: Mayberry Drive and Perrywood Court are both in Perryman! A constant source of trouble for Aberdeen but out of our jurisdiction these two streets are in the Perrywood Gardens apartments. Fred tried to get permission to take our folks into this area but the Sheriff stopped him. This community is an open air drug market and too dangerous for decent folk. I suppose as long as it’s not in Bel Air and all reporters keep calling it Aberdeen (you should know better, Brian) the Sheriff will continue to treat those residents the same as Edgewood.

Dave…Im now educated…thanks.

Dave, I’m sure Brian will come in and defend himself, but I think the Aberdeen references came straight from the press release the sheriff’s office produced.
Dave Yensan says
Steve,
I didn’t really mean to attack Brian. It’s just that Aberdeen catches all the flack and it’s totally beyond the control of the City when Perrywood is the source of all the crap. The Sheriff’s office is only too glad to call it Aberdeen. If they call it Perryman it reflects on the failures of that office. If it’;s in Washington Park or Cranberry Run or Warwick we eat the mess but should not, cannot and will not accept blame and reputation for someone else’s mess.

Unincorporated Aberdeen, not in the city limits, area covered by the HCSD, area where the Hug-A-Thug approach just doesn’t work. Gives Aberdeen a bad name, gives Harford County a bad name, and if Jesse hadn’t snubbed Fred and Fred had been a little more tactful, a couple of top notch officers from the APD could have worked with the HCSD and cleaned up. Sometimes politics suck, but egos always suck!

I have always looked at Washington Park, Perrywood Gardens, Edgewater Village, Battery Drive, just to name a few among many areas of Harford County, as our “little Baltimore Cities”. They need to do something about the drug trafficking and crime in these areas and stop putting it off of as a different deaprtments problem, or just leaving it on the back burner hoping it stays in those generalized areas! If that crap was taking place on the street I live on, the cops would be having a field day! Are tehy scared to enforce the law in these areas? Something REALLY needs to be done! Maybe they could start with doing some random drug raids! They can’t be so blind or stupid that they don’t know who the “big dogs” are!!

Terri law inforcement officer’s have to abide by certain ”right’s” pertaining to the people they stop & question etc. S.fred was doing a great’ job of takeing out the ”trash”.
when it became and issue’ as too where the chief was in these going’s on & the fact it was becomeing to public notice. ( that S.fred was carrying a gun) in some not so nice area’s.
taunting the criminal. with a police back up minutes away. he was the Mayor’ not a trained police officer. I’am still not impartial to ”busting” head’s. but the law does not allow us to do that.

The zero tolorance policey in NY by Goulaine was a sucess….it meant that people were cited for crimes that had been being overlooked. Many of these same people had warrents…and were connected to other crimes when cited…and that stopped both the feeling of invonourability and got them into the system ..thus making them think twice about offending. This lowered crime rates.
I dont care about Judges or prosicuters whining about being overworked…..the money is there to supliment them…if we can spend many millions on ramps to 695 that I cant recall ever being significlently jammed or ever being the cause of the jam…we can afford to have enough judges and prosicuters to do the job…cut and dry. Give the prosicuters assistants by getting interns for them….there are a million solutions.

Richie, you know for zero tolerance to work the officers have to get out of their cars. They have to actually go hands on. Kind of like what needs to be done with your Havre De Grace women. It starts with police work. Jesse talks the talk but the Hug-A-Thug program is the walk that being walked.
RichieC says
Well……. if thats whats gotta be…thats whats gotta be. The attitude of a department comes from the top down. No one likes to be the lone ranger. I would not ever heap responsibility for this on rank and file. If policey is to be dont act unless there is a body or a loss of money…than the time to act is on election day. Or if leverage is available….sooner . The officers can speak effectivly through their union..Im sure the citizens will support them . I know I do.
