From Harford County Councilman Jim McMahan’s Coffee Talk newsletter:
IT IS WITH A HEAVY HEART THAT I RELAY THE NEWS OF THE PASSING OF MR. RAY DOMBROWSKI,
BAND DIRECTOR EMIRATIS BEL AIR HIGH SCHOOL.MR. “D” AND HIS WIFE, ESTHER, WERE MENTORS TO EVERY KID THAT ATTENDED BHS FROM THE MID 50’S UNTIL THEIR RETIREMENT.
MR “D’ WAS A PROUD VETERAN OF THE U.S. ARMY AND EQUALLY PROUD OF HIS POLISH HERITAGE.IN RECENT TIMES, ALL OF US FORMER BAND MEMBERS HAD THE PLEASURE OF PARTICIPATING IN THE BHS REUNION BAND. A HUNDRED STRONG EACH TIME WE GOT TOGETHER; THE PERFORMANCES WERE A DOMBROWSKI TRADE MARK.
“PERFECTION”RAY AND ESTHER WERE TRUE EXAMPLES TO ALL US KIDS OF HOW YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK IN THIS DAY AND AGE.
PLEASE PRAY FOR ESTHER IN HER TIME OF SORROW BUT REMEMBER RAY FOR HIS INFECTIOUS LAUGH, HIS COURAGE THROUGH HIS FIGHT WITH CANCER, THE MUSIC HE BROUGHT TO THOUSANDS AND HIS ORIGINAL SCORE
‘HOORAY FOR BOB CATS”
