Four Arrested for Car Theft and Burglary
(Abingdon, MD – August 27, 2008) – Harford County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested four juveniles for motor vehicle theft, theft over $500.00, and first degree burglary.
On Sunday August 24, 2008 at approximately 3:15 am, Sheriff’s deputies were called to Laurel Woods Court, Abingdon, MD in reference to four suspects tampering with vehicles in the area. While investigating, deputies determined several items had been stolen from at least one vehicle in the 100 block of Laurel Woods Court. A vehicle in the area, which had been stolen by the suspects, was also located on Laurel Woods Court.
During a search of the area deputies located the suspects on Singer Woods Drive and after a short foot chase apprehended one of the suspects, a juvenile from Baltimore, MD. Local businesses were contacted and asked to be on the lookout for the remaining three suspects.
At approximately 6:15 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received information suspects matching the description were at a convenience store on Woodsdale Road, Abingdon, MD. Deputies responded and apprehended three juveniles, two from Baltimore and one from Joppa, in connection with the thefts.
Additional property was recovered from the juveniles which had been taken from a burglary that occurred on August 23, 2008 in the 200 block of Kearney Drive, Joppa, MD. The Department of Juvenile Services was contacted and all four juveniles were released to their parents.
Car burglaries are very difficult cases to solve as there is usually very little physical evidence left behind after one has occurred.
Released to the custody of their parents huh…….start by having Mommy & Daddy make restitution; psych eval for the family; charge the kids as adults unless they cooperate against the others involved.
Its time to start holding parents accountable for the crimes of their JV offspring. Obviously you can’t charge them with the crimes their kids allegedly committed. You can force restitution to victims and engage Family/Social Services to monitor them for a lengthy period, which could lead to criminal charges against parents later.
No more free passes for JV thuggery.
