BEL AIR, Md.—Six different players scored as the Harford women’s soccer team rolled to a 7-0 win over Cecil on Thursday afternoon at Harford Stadium.
The Fighting Owls (3-2-0, 2-0-0 MDJUCO) outshot the Seahawks (0-3-0, 0-2-0 MDJUCO) 28-0 in the contest , with all but two players attempting at least one shot.
Freshman forward Tiffany Runk (Abingdon, Md./Kenwood) led Harford with two goals on the day, while freshmen Lauren Ward (Bel Air, Md./Fallston) and Courtney Kobal (Essex, Md./Kenwood) tallied a goal and assist each.
Both sophomore goalie Jessica Stumpf (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) and Cecil keeper Tara Bernal went the whole 90:00, with Bernal grabbing five saves.
Freshman Kasey Lindecamp (Aberdeen, Md./Perryville) scored the game-winner just over 12 minutes into the game, with a header off the corner by freshman Becca Bazemore (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright).
Bazemore would then assist Runk on h er first goal of the game about four minutes later at the 16:13 mark, and Kobal fired a cross to Runk at 23:42 to give the Fighting Owls a 3-0 advantage.
Kobal added her own goal less than two minutes later as she dribbled down the left side beat a Seahawk defender and fired from six yards out.
Ward notched her first point at the 27:26 mark as she assisted sophomore defender Eliza Burk (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) with a cross that Burk put into the upper left corner from about 10 yards out ending the Owls scoring frenzy that totaled three goals in less than five minutes.
Ward then found the back of the net on her own as she booted a ball into the top center from about eight yards out in the 34th minute to give the Owls a 6-0 lead at the half.
Freshman Courtney Bush (Abingdon, Md./Harford Tech) tallied the final goal of the game off a cross from freshman defender Krista Fassio (Baltimore, Md./John Carroll) that she headed in to give Harford the 7-0 win.
The Fighting Owls return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 23 when they travel to face CCBC-Catonsville for a 5:00 p.m. match.
