CATONSVILLE, Md.—For the first time this season, the Harford women’s volleyball team won back-to-back matches as it defeated CCBC-Catonsville, 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-9, 25-19), on Tuesday night at Catonsville.
The Fighting Owls (4-6, 2-3 MDJUCO) are now just one conference win away from a .500 record in the MDJUCO after notching two straight league wins.
Freshman Lindsey Gilhooly (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace) tallied her second straight double-double in the win over the Cardinals, posting 10 kills and 15 digs as well as six aces, one solo and two assisted blocks.
Gilhooly’s six aces was almost half of Harford’s team total of 16 aces for the match, an average of four aces per set.
Freshman Audrey Werneke led the Owls with 24 digs as well as one ace, while freshman Brielle Webster contributed 13 assists and two aces.
Harford hit .183 for the match, with its best sets coming in set one, where the Owls hit .250 with nine kills and just one error on 32 attacks and in set three where they maintained a .292 hitting percentage with 10 kills on 34 attempts with three errors.
The Fighting Owls concluded their three-match roadstand on Tuesday and will return home for a 7:00 p.m. match against Howard on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
