ARNOLD, Md. —The Harford men’s soccer team lost its second straight as it fell, 4-1, to Anne Arundel on Tuesday afternoon at Anne Arundel CC.
The Fighting Owls (4-7-1, 2-6-0 MDJUCO) took a 1-1 tie with the Pioneers (6-1-2, 5-1-1 MDJUCO) into the half, but gave up three goals in the second half, falling 4-1.
Freshman forward Steve Landreth (Churchville, Md./Harford Tech) scored the lone goal for the Owls as he fired a rebound from freshman forward Sean Conlon’s (Weisbadin, Germany/West Nottingham Academy) shot past the keeper in the 35th minute to knot the score at one goal apiece.
Anne Arundel’s Mustapha El Fouhami notched the first goal of the game in the 30th minute, while Jordan Palmer scored the first goal of the second half off a pass from Stephen Fridell. Palmer tallied one more in the half, this time from Protus Nkwan, while Jordan Copeland added the final goal of the game off Wes Rudinger’s ball to give the Pioneers the 4-1 win.
The Pioneers held a 7-6 advantage in shots and 8-1 advantage in corners over Harford. Freshman goalies Taylor Dize (Bel Air, Md./Salem Christian) and Steve Meredith (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) combined for six total saves, with Dize tallying five in 60:00 and Meredith tacking on one more save in 30:00 of play.
Travis Young tallied six saves for the Anne Arundel.
The Fighting Owls return to Harford Stadium on Thursday when they host Howard for a 3:30 p.m. match.
