White Marsh, MD, October, 15, 2008 – Over 70 business and community members gathered yesterday for a breakfast fundraiser in White Marsh, MD to show their support for Al Redmer Jr.’s quest to fill Senator Andy Harris’s seat in the 7th Legislative District of the Maryland Senate.
Redmer, a long-time business and political figure in the state, is forging ahead to fill Harris’s Senate seat if Harris is elected as the newest Maryland Congressman in November. Redmer, a strong supporter of Harris, strives to finish Harris’s term and build a solid foundation to retain the seat in the 2010 election.
A key supporter of Harris, Redmer has engaged various audiences through fundraising efforts and campaign tactics to spread the unified message of overcoming the state’s challenges including taxes, government spending, deficits and health care through highly visible and community-focused representation.
“I am extremely proud and encouraged to witness support from so many business and community members as we embark on this journey together,” said Redmer. “Our community deserves the opportunity to uphold energetic and experienced leadership with the know-how to make a difference. My commitment to this community is strong, solid and unwavering.”
During the breakfast fundraiser, Redmer reiterated his commitment to become the experienced, results-oriented and citizen-focused Senator from this District. Stressing the importance of immediate engagement into the existing issues in the Senate upon Harris’s exit, Redmer explained how his experience and community involvement will promote impact.
Redmer currently serves as the President of Landmark Insurance and Financial Group Inc., a full service agency serving the mid-Atlantic region. He served in the House of Delegates for 13 years and also served as the Minority Leader of the House until his work caught the eye of then Governor Ehrlich, who appointed him Maryland Insurance Commissioner in 2003. With over three decades living in or near the 7th District, Redmer has been actively involved in various community organizations dedicated to educational, youth, business, environmental, and health care issues. He serves as a Board Member for the Essex-Middle River-White Marsh Chamber of Commerce and is a Past President of the Perry Hall Improvement Association.
The breakfast fundraiser raised $25,000 in support of Redmer’s campaign.
