Edgewood Man Killed In Early Morning Perryman Shooting

(Aberdeen, MD – May 5, 2009) –Harford County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the homicide of a 26 year old man which occurred at approximately 2:10 a.m. today in the area of Perrywood Drive and Perrywood Court, Aberdeen, MD.

At 2:08 a.m. deputies responded for shots fired in the area of Mayberry Drive, Aberdeen, MD. Shortly after their arrival deputies were notified that the State Police were out with a vehicle that had crashed at Route 40 and Revolution Street, Havre De Grace, MD. In the back seat of the vehicle was Yamar Auntrez Martin, 26, of Wing Leaf Court in Edgewood, who had sustained at least two gunshot wounds.

The driver and passenger, familiar with Martin, advised they went outside after hearing gun shots in the area of Perrywood Court and Perrywood Drive when they discovered Martin, who had been shot. They placed Martin in their vehicle and were driving to Harford Memorial Hospital when they crashed.

Martin was treated at the scene and transported to Shock Trauma by the Havre De Grace Ambulance Corps. Martin died shortly after arriving at Shock Trauma.

A witness reported hearing two male subjects arguing and then hearing multiple shots. Deputies determined multiple shots were fired from an unknown type of handgun striking Martin in the upper torso and arm. Two parked cars in the area of the shooting were also struck.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call the Harford County Sheriff’s Office at 410-838-6600 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587). KJ I Don’t think perry wood is a part of Aberdeen. but it’s close enough to use it as a reference point. I think aberdeen’s property line is rte 40# and rte 7# junction

    RWinger says:

KJ: Perryman is OUTSIDE of Aberdeen corporate limits. If you recall, Fred Simmons, based upon crime trends and interviews of those arrested, figured out that this area was a home base to many criminals who would operate in Aberdeen. (Vet if you’re reading, kind of reminds you of Laos dosen’t it) Simmons, wished to send the Aberdeen officers (who apparently also take the Deputy Sheriff oath) to track and weed out those criminals operating in Aberdeen but setting up their home base in Perryman. Simmons wasn’t calling for the Aberdeen police to patrol the area and handle barking dog or broken window complaints, Simmons wanted the focus to be on “Aberdeen’s Most Wanted”, those known gun touting drug dealers, that were supplying Aberdeen. If you recall Simmons made a few too many quotes (truthful as they may have been) and that set Jesse Bane off. This also was fodder during the election spelling out a waste of taxpayer money. Fred, never afraid to speak up but often one who wasn’t as tactful when he spoke, was on the right track but didn’t convey it properly. His idea was correct, if you look at the Aegis police blotter arrests, many “Aberdeen Police report arrests” made in Aberdeen coroprate limits are Perryman residents when it comes to drugs and guns. The “Harford County/ State Police report arrests” for Aberdeen are Perryman and the unincorporated areas, of course Perryman is an endless supply. Don’t get me wrong, not all of the people living in Perryman are bad or criminals, a small element is ruining it for all!

Yea, his record definately had something to do with his death, he is a drug dealer , he has attempted murder charges, and he is a gang memeber, and he was in perry wood gardens late at night and got into a shooting, come on now Herold, personal feelings aside, criminal history goes alot to character and I will bet my next pay check his shananigans is what got him to his early retirment. No sad feeling s for him he made his choice and that is the common resualt of that life style. Furthermore this goes right along with those bashing Aberdeen PD for what they did on over at sids but you dont see shootings over there cuase they either push them away, or lock them up.

Even here at the 7th level of Hell, we know all about Yamar’s run in the law ( or is it “Da Man”). We aren’t up on the latest lingo here in hell. Then again it does not matter, because in hell, your ass is mine for all eternity.

Now Yamar was working on a really nice public record with Circuit Court in Harford County. So I guess this goes along with his good heart.

We truly feel down here in hell that we have given Yamar a proper punishment. Besides Tookie hasn’t had a young man since his days in The Cut.

It could be worse for Yamar. He could be Big E. Smalls. You should see what we have Tupac doing to him.

I know it amazes you that there was no honor among these two criminals, but you sound shocked that this might happen to young Yamar. Yuni was a career criminal that was either going to end up dead or in jail. He showed absolutely no signs of maturing and becoming a productive citizen. For those of us that did know him I can honestly say that there was no shock or amazement when the news broke. It may be coldhearted but just think about how many thousands of dollars were saved by not having to prosecute him for the rest of his life. As a taxpayer, I hope those dollars are put to better use.

Oh boy … here we go again! Another life taken and another “he said, she said” he did this wrong, he did this right” battle. Bottom line is … he went there for a fight, in a neighborhood with tons of children who were probably all sleeping peacefully in their beds, within earshot of the immature “I’m the better drug dealer and gangster, get off my turf” bullshit being yelled back and forth. I’m SURE the one that was shot also had a gun, maybe removed by whoever picked him up and carted him to the hospital, he just didn’t pull his fast enough so the other guy got the first shot … and the last (unless, of course, the cops find bullets from two different guns then that means they both shot and only one hit his target.
It never hurts my feelings to hear that a drug dealer or gangster is hurt … though it’s so pathetic that these idiots choose to lose their lives over such dumb shit … but, it ALWAYS bothers me when I hear that they have no regard for the innocent lives that could have been taken by a stray bullet! ALL of these worthless idiots need to be in prison for the rest of their lives … I wouldn’t care if it was my own family member, I’d still feel the same!

reading this makes me realize nothing has changed. . in this world and in this country i am yamar baby sister and regardless of his “record” that wasnt the reason why he is dead and for those who thought if he was in there longer he’d be alive … thats false too.. like jail is the safest place and noone dies in there .. lets GET SERIOUS! i am 20 years old and i feel a little dumb for even respondin but my brother always taught me to speak my mind. . . regardless of what he has done in this situation he did nothing wrong he tried walking away it was a coward who decided to pull the trigger….. really guns dont make you a man it makes you a little boy with a poor future! have some respect for yourselves and keep your comments to yourself or atleast through phone conversations you never know who is readin nor watchin what you are doing. . . it becomes another “sad crime” or a “he said, she said” story when we have heartless individuals out there who are thinkin about his innocent family, his brothers and sister; his daughter who now grows up without a father and who elses lives have been ruin it amazes me how we still find it easy to talk about others pains like its just another day for you.. this is my life … it doesnt effect anyone till it hits home you will never understand the hurt we feel and i would love if you guys would put yourselves in our shoes and imagine loosin a brother; a son; a father.. yeah hard isn’t it?!

    lyle says:

Cynthia, really, he did nothing wrong? he just got shot at random, he never was a drug dealer, he wasnt a gang member, he was in perryman because its not one of the worst drug selling places in harofrd county, the fact that he was a drug dealer in perryman fighting had noting to do with his death, if he had a real job and was a law biding citizen, he would not have been out there fighing to sell drugs and he would still be alive, selling drugs is illegal, assaulting some one is illegal, assualting some one to sell drugs is illegal, yea what he did was wrong and he got what he deserved, and i am glad! I dont have to pay for him to be prosecuted again, I dont have to pay for he police overtime to chase him, I dont have to pay for him to be in prison, he will no longer be the cause of the need to allocate billions to drug treatment programs for people addicted to the crap that he sold. I will not be the victim of some crack head that he was supplying that would have broken into my house to steal my stuff and trade it to him for drugs, and then my taxes would be paying for the police to come to my house and tell me that they cant help me. I am glad he is gone it will save money, lives and property

    Snoop says:

I am so sick and tired of reading responses from dirtbag people about how it doesnt matter what the person was like, or it doesnt matter who they were, or it doesnt matter what they did, because now they are dead. NO, it does matter, because it is a major factor in why they are dead. Yamar is dead because of HIS choices. He wasn’t run over by a train, he wasnt struck by lightning, he didn’t fall off a cliff. He was a dumb thug, waste of carbon, and died because he was a criminal and associated with such. Please see IBIS for the ebonics translation of this paragraph.

  33. 33
    Snoop says:

I realized I am not finished writing, after reading more responses from Yamar’s family. I agree it is sad that anyone dies. However, you are mourning his loss, when he clearly chose his life. As a parent, or simply a responsible citizen, we realize that our actions have a ripple effect to everyone in our life. To say that you lost a brother, a father and a friend, yes that is sad. But what is more upsetting is that he was not thinking about those relationships while living the life he lived. This is not a random act of violence, this is Yamar’s life. This is the life of many young people today, especially african americans. This is the kind of thing that is romanticized and glorified, to the point where you believe it is an honorable death to be shot and killed living a thug life. This is the attitude and mindset that needs to change, and until then, I will not feel sad for him.

  34. 34
    Snoop says:

Lyle, I like you. Great minds think alike….actually, it’s simply common sense, which is in VERY short supply, especially in this part of the country…

  35. 35
    RWinger says:

It has been said before and will be said again, live by the sword die by the sword. Unfortunately poor Mr. Martin must have skipped class on the day that this lesson was taught. His record has a lot to do with his death, his record is a mirror image of many that died before him and those that don’t get the picture and will suffer the same fate. This is not an MTV video, an XBox game, or a low budget shoot ‘em up film, it is the real world and once a life ends, it ends.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that when one’s entire adult life since 2000, when he turned 18, is spent in jail or awaiting trial is a recipe for disaster. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out, as history supports, that drug dealing and the associated lifestyle goes hand in hand with gun play, violence, and death. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to look past the usual cop out laying blame to society for letting this man down or preach as to what a great man he was or could have been and that he was going to turn his life around. One can easily see that an individual who exhibits text book sociopath tendencies (take a look at the record and convictions) has been living on borrowed time, and the day came, and the debt was owed, hence it was collected.

This is Harford County, it’s not Baltimore, Detroit, LA, Washington DC, Chicago, Gary, or a host of other locales that routinely lead the country in per capita violence and murder. I say this only to make a point; when one feels the need to live a life style that is so stereotypical of the victims from Baltimore, Detroit, LA, and such and one’s life ends abruptly, but predictably, in a manner as Mr. Martin, don’t be offended when I don’t shed a tear and echo what has been said over and over “I told you so”.

    Delegate Dan Riley says:

For every action, there is a reaction. Consequences for one’s behavior can be a positive experience or a negative experience. Its ultimately decided by the individual choices we make.

Actually…..Yamar did have a gun…just got pulled before he was driven away. Guess he wasnt the quicker to the draw.

    teacher says:

I taught Yamar at HDG Middle and at Aberdeen Middle. I can’t say he was a child without problems, but I can say I am sorry to hear of him losing his life so soon and in a violent manner. I genuinely liked him and felt he was smart and could have grown to be a valued and contributing member of society. I am not excusing what he may or may not have done and yet in the end… we are not the judges that matter. My condolences to the family. My hopes that any young people reading this take heed.

  39. 39
    The Communicator says:

If you look at Yamar’s criminal record, he was a one man crime wave; assault, murder, drugs, etc.

You can’t say that he was just unlucky or in the wrong place at the wrong time. His behavior and criminal activity eventually caught up with him. One who lives by the sword, dies by the sword…or gun.

Why do we now hear that he “was a good person” or “he had a really big heart”? The truth is, he was a career criminal, a common thug, who had no respect for the law or his fellow citizen. Yamar would have never been a productive member of society. This outcome was inevitable, we just didn’t know when.

It makes me absolutely CRAZY that you feel the need to come on this website and speak like that to other people! All these folks were doing was stating FACTS about the criminal history of a person who was involved in a shooting. It is VERY unfortunate that his life had to end the way it did but, don’t wish things like that on other people because he chose to do all the wrong things in life!! It is not fair at all for you to do that! His criminal record, just like the records of ALL the other people who have made it to an article in the news, is public information and, it CLEARLY defines the reason that his life ended in such a senseless and tragic way! Whether he was your cousin or mine, it would still be the same! He chose his path and unfortunately, his life ended in a way that became public! It’s something you’re going to have to deal with, like it or not! My prayers go out to you and your family! I REALLY pray that no one else loses their life to such ridiculous, senseless things!

Of course every action has reaction, but who are we to judge. We are all human, we all make mistakes. Yamar was NOT dumb, he knew the life he chose and trust me he knew where it was going to take him, i know this because i’ve been his girl for the last 3 yrs. There were times when he could not sleep because of the things that he has done in life, but trust yamar was a god fearing man. He prayed whenever possible….. so yu stupid xxxxxxx talking bout he’s in hell, are so wrong. My baby is in heaven, no more trials and tribulations. Now he can rest.
