The following was received from the campaign of Patrick McGrady:
Patrick McGrady, candidate for State Delegate in District 34A, held a campaign kick-off BBQ fundraiser this past Sunday, September 27th. More than 100 people attended the event at the historic Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House in Havre de Grace.
Mr. McGrady spoke about recent tax increases in Maryland, including a 20% increase in sales taxes and an 18% increase in the corporate tax.
He pledged never to vote for tax increases when in Annapolis. Knowing that Harford County has the third highest property tax rate in the state of Maryland, McGrady also pledged to seek internal changes to fix the Property Tax Assessment system in Maryland.
US Senate candidate Jim Rutledge spoke about McGrady’s dedication to action, citing an instance where he called Patrick to attend a rally in southern Maryland with only 10 minutes notice. Rutledge said McGrady’s response was “Where do you want to meet?”
Dave Pridgeon of the Harford County Campaign for Liberty gave the most stirring speech focusing on the importance of the next generation of young leaders in government. He noted that many of the founding fathers and signatories to the US Constitution were under the age of 30. Pridgeon ended saying that Patrick is the new face that we need to shake things up in Annapolis.
After the fundraiser, McGrady said that he was pleased with the turnout and was excited about the strong support he is receiving across the board from people across the County. McGrady said when asked about why he is seeking public office, “I have strong roots in the Route 40 corridor. I intend to live in my home town of Aberdeen the rest of my life, so I’m not going to run away from an opportunity to improve the my community. I am committed to my community and I would love to represent all the hard-working residents of my district as their voice in Annapolis.”

Some of the other guests that participated on Sunday included Mr. and Mrs. Chad Shrodes, the County councilman and his wife, that also are fighting to lower property taxes and help reduce the county budget by decreasing taxes and managing budget decisions with more attention to detail. Dereck Howell, Roland Moran and Eva Krasel, all local business people, all favor a reduced gov’t involvement support Patrick’s run for Delegate. Many young adults attended, and included family and friends and the result was a fun, informative afternoon to start his campaign. Good luck, Patrick !

Press release? I seem to think this issue came up before (about press releases being posted as articles), but shouldn’t they not be listed as “Written by Dagger News Service” unless the Dagger is now doing PR for McGrady’s campaign?

What part of “The following was received from the campaign of Patrick McGrady:” is so hard for you to understand?

My fault…scanned it quickly and missed that line. Sorry about that! Still, it seems odd that the “Written by Dagger News Service” byline is there.

An earlier version of this Press Release omitted Harford County Councilman Chad Shrodes. It has since been updated, but I wanted to set the record straight for posterity.
Thanks.
While I’m here, please check out my website at http://www.McGradyforDelegate.com. I am always looking for feedback to improve myself and the website.

Feedback: Do not talk both about damaging tax cuts (cuts that bankrupt local governments, stopping them from being able to offer functional services) while at the same time that saying that we need increased services, particularly in infrastructure updgrades: “Work with county, municipal, and state government to ensure continuous improvement to public infrastructure. To attract and retain business in our growth areas we must ensure that up-to-date fully-functioning infrastructure is in place so that businesses can easily plug into existing systems to “hit the ground running” when they set up shop in Harford County.”
