From Maryland State Police:
Date: November 14, 2009 Time: 0439 hrs. CC No. 09-53-0013662
(Street, MD): Troopers from the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack responded to MD 543, Ady Road, south of MD 646, Prospect Road, in reference to a two car motor vehicle collision.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2002 Ford pick-up operated by Travis Nelson Grey, thirty-one years old, of Street, MD, was traveling northbound on Ady Road prior to Prospect Road. Gray failed to maintain control of his vehicle traveled into the southbound lane colliding head-on with a 1998 Ford pick-up where both vehicles came to final rest. The 1998 Ford pick-up was operated by James Andrew Bielanski, forty-eight years old, of Street, MD. The 1998 Ford pick-up was also occupied by Pamela Blanche Bielanski, forty-seven years old, of Street MD, and Robert William Arbogast, thirty-five years old, of Street, MD.
James Bielanski and Pamela Bielanski both sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and the State Medical Examiner. Arbogast was transported by ambulance to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma where his condition is serious.
The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hrs while investigators from the Maryland State police CRASH Team investigated the collision.
The collision remains under investigation by troopers from the Bel Air Barrack “D” and the CRASH Team. The Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office has been consulted with and are in the process of reviewing the particulars of this case. Charges are pending.
Tanya T Lewis says
The accident in Street Maryland where 2 people died on the scene, the 3rd passenger, Robert Arbogast died last night at 10:28pm. He was the father of a beautiful 15 year old girl, a daughter who is turning 5 and was just married in May. He was an advit softball player, hunter, fisherman, and an extremely hard worker. He always made you laugh. His family is heart broken.
Josie Kuhn says
Rob Arbogast was truly a great person. It is terrible that somebody’s inability to judge as an adult what is right or wrong when behind the wheel of a car, three lives are lost. I hope this 31 year old gets what he deserves because no matter what his sentence is, he will live life (even if its behind bars) and for a great person like Rob he will not see his daughters graduate from high school, enjoy his hobbies or just joke with his friends. I am truly sicken that such a nice, sweet, hard working person is forever physically gone.
Joy says
I am so sorry and hurt to hear about the lives that have been lost in this accident. I am also very hurt and concerned about the life that still must be lived by the man who survived. It is easy to place blame and make judgments when we are without knowledge of everything but the obvious. We have no idea what caused this accident and it is cruel to punish a man that may have not had any control over the circumstance. As easy as it is to curse Travis, make it that easy to pray, hope or wish that your worst thoughts are untrue.
God bless those who are still here with us and grant them peace, understanding and forgiveness.
ray oliphant says
OKAY THEN IF HE WAS DRUNK THEN XXXX HIM.If he wasnt drunk then i feel sorry for him I was told by a person very close to rob that the other driver was in fact drunk i was also told by two paramedics that were on the scene that he was intoxicated
Joy says
Hello Ray,
Your lose causes me much sorrow, it truly does. I understand your anger and I hope that the information you were given is wrong. However, if it isn’t…I’m sure Travis’ guilt will kill his spirit faster than anyones worst wishes.
DW says
It doesn’t say if Travis was transported anywhere or not, but if he was in fact drunk and was transported someplace then everyone better hope it wasn’t Bayview Medical Center since their policy is to not require their ER staff to complete the blood kit for DUI cases because they don’t want the hassle of having to go to court (their words, not mine.) It’s a bullshit policy, but unfortunately not illegal as I found out with a case I was handling a few months back.
Bill Harford says
Joy, are you kidding me? You are “concerned about the life that still must be lived by the man who survived.” Guess what? We have to live a life in which our friends/family were taken from us because TRAVIS MURDERED THEM. They have no life left to live because TRAVIS MURDERED THEM. How do we even know that he cares about what he did? The only way that he can show true remorse is to put the barrel of a .45 in his mouth and pull the trigger. To do anything less shows that he is not truly remorseful. You also wrote “We have no idea what caused this accident…” Yes we do. Travis Grey got drunk, got behind the wheel and MURDERED 3 innocent people. I hope that there is a special place in hell for him, and would gladly tell him this to his face. TRAVIS GREY IS A MURDERER!!! MAY HE ROT IN HELL!!
DW says
That’s a bit extreme…obviously you’re angry and with good reason, but wishing someone would blow their own head off is way out there.
I also happen to agree that if someone makes the decision to get drunk and then drive and end up killing someone as a result they should be charged with murder (2nd degree), but unfortunately that’s not how the laws are written and the only way that’ll change is through Annapolis.
Bill Harford says
DW,
I did not say that I wished that he would put the gun in his mouth. I said that he WOULD do it if he were truly remorseful. There is a big difference.
Bill
DW says
I dunno…still sounds like you’re hoping he blows his head off to me.
I’m not going to argue about it, though.
Bill Harford says
DW,
We will agree to disagree on the point.
ray oliphant says
anyone who comes on here and argues with someone on how harsh they think the punisment should be for travis is an idiot really why would you feel sorry for a guy who just wiped out three awesome human beings it makes me sick he makes me sick stop sympathizing with a guy who put a bottle to his mouth drank alcoholand fuckin drove a 2 ton piece of steel the guy wasnt 16 he was a man 30 sum yrs old i dont do it because i could kill someone i make a choice to not drive just like he made one to drive NO xxxxxxING EXCUSE DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL AND DRIVE A VEHICLE ANY QUESTIONS? Michele says
I am going to pray for you Bill, and my dear nephew. Gods words say, let only those who have never sinned throw the first stone. Is that you?
He took 3 peoples lives in a terrible accident. And can barely lift his head, because of the huge sadness he feels for what happened. He will live with this forever. But to say that the only way he could show remorse is to end his life, is coming from your very sick mind. He is hugely remorseful. We all are…To the families of James and Pamela Bielanski, and Robert Arbogast, please know that The Gray Families have lifted you up in prayer at our churches and within our families. We are truly sorry for your losses.
ray oliphant says
MICHELLE IF YOU AND YOUR FAMILY TRULY ARE SORRY AND TRAVIS TRULY IS SORRY THEN HAVE YOUR CHURCH TAKE UP A DONATION AND GIVE IT TO ROBS WIFE WHO HAS ALL THE BILLS TO TAKE CARE OF NOW TWO DAUGHTERS TO PUT THROUGH COLLEGE ALL BY HERSELF AND PLEASE STOP TELLING PEOPLE LIKE BILL WHO SAY THINGS IN A TIME OF GRIEF AND ANGER AND WHO IS UPSET THAT HE LOST SOMEONE VERY IMPORTANT TO HIM THAT HE HAS A SICK MIND AND CAST THE FIRST STONE AND ALL THAT BULLSHIT IM A CHRISTIAN MYSELF AND LET ME BE THE FIRST TO TELL YOU JESUS WOULDNT CALL BILL SICK OR TRY TO ARGUE WITH HIM IN A TIME LIKE THIS JESUS WOULDNT GET ON HERE AND JUDGE PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE IS PRAYING FOR US AT YOUR CHURCH ON SUNDAY GONNA BRING ROB BACK OR PAY THE BILLS FOR ROBS WIFE GO TALK TO GOD AND STOP TELLING PEOPLE THET ARE SICK IN THE HEAD STONE CASTER YOU MAKE ME SICK IF TRAVIS FEELS BAD HE SHOULD IM NOT GIVING HIM ANY EXTRA CREDIT FOR IT HE KILLED THREE FREAKING PEOPLE IF HE DIDNT FEEL BAD THEN HE WOULD BE A PSYCO
Betty says
My turn,
I am Travis’s deceased mother’s best friend, she accidentally
left us 5 1/2 years ago. He knows tragedy too. Remember
“ACCIDENT” he did not set out to cause bodily harm or death to
anyone. He will be held accountable by law. Travis also
likes to hunt and fish all of which will be taken away too.
He made a bad choice last week which will effect his whole
family for the rest of their lives. He is human, he is loved
by this family too. Things happen for a reason, some are good
and some are bad. We will all have a judgement day to face
many different things. Something good will come out of this
for all involved. As for you Bill and Ray I feel your anger
but in time your wounds will heal, you both have great
memories to hold onto forever, just as each of the families
involved do. Cherish what you have, pray for peace and may
God Bless all the families and friends that have been so
touched by this tragedy. Hug your family and friends every
chance you get and may God Bless ALL.
DW says
If what you say true, it’s certainly very serious and contributed to this tragedy however Travis is an adult is ultimately responsible for his actions.
If that sort of stuff goes there on a regular basis it should be shut down and I suggest you contact the liquor control board about it.
Sandi B. says
BETTY: My turn, again. I’m sorry – This was not an ACCIDENT – There are NO ACCIDENTS. It was an act of pre-meditated vehicular manslaughter / a slight push could turn it into homicide. Travis Grey was DRUNK – DRUNKS who are not passed out, who are awake and functioning, decide (they make a choice) to get behind the wheel of a loaded weapon and drive it. They CHOOSE it. He KNEW, the bartender knew, his drinking friends knew, that he was drunk and impaired and should not drive – someone should have body slammed him, called the cops on him, tackled him to the ground and took his keys – they NEVER should have let him get behind the wheel of a truck. They didn’t and look what happened.
Because of his impaired judgment when he made his DECISION to drive – he killed three innocent people. KILLED THEM DEAD – not maimed them for life, or severely injured them for life, or caused a brain injury, or made them wheelchair bound, or put them in a nursing home forever – he SNUFFED THEM OUT LIKE A CIGARETTE ON THE BOTTOM OF HIS SHOE. He CHOSE to do it. He might as well have taken a gun out at the bar and shot everyone around him – SAME THING …. do you get it?? And, the next post down – Ms. Hatcher says that someone was pouring shots down Travis’ throat – come now – I’m sure they were holding him down and opening his mouth and pouring shots down his throat. I’m sure he fought them off with everything he had and stormed out the door and said – NO GET AWAY FROM ME, BAD BARTENDER , I DON’T WANT ANYMORE SHOTS!! Yeah, right…. Do we sound stupid to you. This sounds like blaming the cigarette company because you have cancer – they held the cigarette to your lips and told you to smoke it – Get Real . If this man is 10 years over the legal drinking age of 21 – then he is supposed to have enough sense and maturity to be in control of himself. Obviously he wasn’t.
I personally don’t care what he has suffered through in the past – EVERYONE has had loss in their lives – EVERYONE… No one is untouched by death, tragedy, or loss of some kind. THERE IS NO REASON FOR THIS TO HAVE HAPPENED. HE CAUSED IT TO HAPPEN BY HIS CHOICE TO GET BEHIND THE WHEEL. This is worse than some random drive-by shooting – these people were minding their business in their own vehicle, going hunting early one morning and then along comes Travis Gray, drunk, and crosses the center line and MURDERS THEM WITH HIS TRUCK.
I am glad his family supports and loves him. They can drive him to his AA meetings or NA meetings and his psychiatrist which the State (us) will probably have to pay for… They can come to visit him in prison – where he should spend some quality time with Bubba his cell mate – there he can reflect on his wonderful choice and find Jesus, because that’s the only way he is going to get up from rock bottom. By all accounts, if this isn’t rock bottom for him, then I say he is totally beyond help and therefore, doesn’t deserve anyone’s sympathy.
I hope he is remorseful and is asking Jesus Christ for forgiveness. Peter Bielanski, Jr has already forgiven him – his parents would be so proud of this young man – oh, wait – that’s right – they’re dead! What am I thinking?!! Well, Peter will be the man of the family now – I didn’t catch Peter’s age – I hope he is old enough to take care of his family; I hope he can afford a place to live, I hope he has a job, can afford life insurance, car insurance, etc. Because Heaven forbid – when Travis Gray gets behind the wheel of a car again, we need to be prepared – everyone should up their life insurance and their car insurance limits – we need to make certain our families are taken care of when they are hit by a drunk. And Brooke – she’s without her Dad too – who’s going to walk her down the isle when she gets married – or dance with her to Daddy’s Little Girl? Who’s going to be Grandad to her children someday? What’s going to happen on Thanksgiving and Christmases now for years to come – do you think they will ever have a normal holiday again? I think not. But I’m sure Travis will – with his supportive family …
Dear God – Why is it that the good die young – the drunks always survive the crash, and the families of the good ones are always left to pick up the pieces and try to go on???
Cdev says
Cindy that is the biggest load of Horseshit that is like saying the tavern made him drink and drive!
I am a little biased here but I think a fitting sentence for this is to sit in prision and be forced to watch birthday/baptism and family videos of the victim for 3 hours a day.
Absent that may he burn in hell as the murderer he is!
ray oliphant says
Rob was on my softball team sluggers. We all loved him very much he was funny smart and a mans man.He hunted he fished and he was a great friend. The bielanskis sponsored our softball team rampage and team sluggers they came to every single game. They always came through .This couldnt have happened to three nicer people. Before you DECIDE to drive drunk because it is a DECISION when you leave your house you go out and your sober you can DECIDE not to drink and kill someone.RIP ROB PAM AND JIM YOU WILL BE TRULY MISSED FOREVER. XXXX YOU TRAVIS NELSON GREY YOU TOOK A GREAT MAN AWAY FRM HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND I HOPE YOU ROT IN JAIL FOREVER AND THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU DID
Linda says
It is so easy to judge people in a time of loss. Anger, remorse and fear control our behavior and I feel your grief. HOWEVER, to judge someone who will have to live with this accident the rest of his life in unfair. Travis is a caring, loving, compassionate person, and I know that he will be devastated for a long long time and remember for the rest of his life. My condolances to all friends and family involved in this tragedy, including the Grey family.
ray oliphant says
shut up and stay off of here you have alot of nerve coming on here defending travis when people just lost three of there friends
Diane Brown says
I couldn’t have said it any better. He made a choice to get behind the wheel and we lost 3 incredible people because of it. He needs to be punished!!!
Cindy Hatcher says
Where in the hell were the three that died, going at 4:30 in the friggin’ morning? Sure seems odd to me…you know they had to be drinking too…did the cops take blood from them to see how intoxicated they all were? A family man should be home with his family at 4:30 in the morning, in bed, asleep. Classic example of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I think everyone needs to wait and see what the investigators conclude before passing judgement on anyone!
JUDGE YE LEST YE BE JUDGED! The bible tells you so and shame on all of you casting the first stones…your evil thoughts are just as bad if not worse than killing these three people yourselves.
DW says
Um…someone already posted that they were on their way to go hunting and numerous others have posted about the three of them being avid hunters. That’s a pretty common time for people to hit the road to get out into the woods and set up by sunrise. I know when I used to hunt with my father and uncles we’d be out the door by 5 am at the latest from my grandmother’s house and the place we hunted was right on her old farm and less than 2 miles away form her house.
You’re trying to pin all the blame on the owners of Old School Tavern, but ultimately each of us is responsible for our own actions. I think that’s one of the problems with today’s society…everyone tries to blame someone else for their mistakes.
AmusedHarfordResident says
hey moron lady (cindy h),
they were going hunting so shut up you’re obviously such a moron that nobody on here respects your opinion. You’re the village idiot in this thread, congratulations!
Patricia Horney says
Umm listen here Cindy.. Where were you when the news came out? Did you read the newspaper or do you not know how to? They were hunting!! They always go hunting! An no they werent drinking.. dumb bitch. Travis was!! So please dont open your mouth and be disrespectful when you know nothing!
Sandi B. says
Shut up and stop your ridiculous, uninformed and absurd postings – no one wants to hear from you – you are obviously the idiot that some village has lost. Go away.
RichieC says
cindy…bars in md close at 1 am…not 4 am as in other states
Cindy Hatcher says
Michelle…I know Travis and I can only imagine the hell he is going thru right now. I wish I could take some of his pain away. He is truly a great person full of love and would never even hurt a fly. This is a great tragedy and Travis certainly does not deserve this, nor did the three victims…but it did happen and nothing will ever change that or bring back the three lost lives! It hurts me to read all the hate towards Travis from the friends & families of the deceased, but in all acutality it could have easily been the other way around too. If I know Travis he’s wishing right now it would have been him instead of the other three. May God bless him, heal him and give him the strength to go on.
Patricia Horney says
May Travis rot in jail!! My aunt, uncle, and rob didnt deserve this?! They didnt deserve to die!!! Travis did!
MommieDearest says
I am so sad and sickened to hear of yet another fatality, unfortunately multiple in this case, in Harford County. What is wrong with these drivers? Drunk? Inattentive? Careless? Speeding? Just imagine you’re going out to the 7-11 to pick up a gallon of milk and you don’t get to come home again. So Travis Gray destroys families and he’s probably worried if he truck is ok. This madness has got to stop. Slow down and pay attention people! And judges, when (and it had better be WHEN and not IF) charges are filed, PUT THESE PEOPLE AWAY!!!!!! You are as guilty as those who committed the act if you let these people behind the wheel again. Prayers to the Bielanski and Arbogast families.
Linda says
My prayers are for the families in this time of losss. BUT The LAST thing Travis is thinking about now is his truck. You do not know the man and I want to assure you that he is devastitated. I have known Travis for many years.
Mary says
Since you know Travis so well can you tell him that he has caused Rob’s mother to lose a second child. You think he is hurting you have know idea. I will tell you from a mother who has lost a child. There is no greater pain in the world. Now, she has to go through it again. I am sure Travis didn’t set out to detroy so many families lives, but that is what happens when you make the wrong choices. In a split second your life and many others change forever.
Daniel Cocks says
Jim, Pam, and Rob were all wonderful people who will be missed dearly. My heart goes out to their families in this time of un fathomable grief. Tanya, Dave, Stephanie, Tiffany, Charles, Charlie, Pete, and Briona. You are all in my prayers.
Tanya T Lewis says
Dr. cocks,
Thank you for the card. We recieved it today. I did pass your condolences on to Stephanie.
jimmy stillwell says
one lesson i learned from this triple tragedy…don’t be on the road at 4:30 a/m….cause the other person on the road might be a ‘killer’ behind the wheel.
dba says
Good Point. I have been curious since this happened. Does anyone know where the three victims were headed that morning?
Bill Harford says
Not that it makes any difference, but they were getting ready to go hunting.
Patricia Horney says
But when being on the road at 4:30 in the morning.. your assuming that all the dumb ass drunk drivers are off the road, as anyone would. They were going hunting.. doing what they love best.
Justin Bell and Heather Battaglia says
Rob, Pam and Jim…you will be in our hearts forever and always and missed everyday. It all just seems like a bad dream that we just need to wake up from. To their families…our thoughts and prayers are with you and we are terrible sorry for your losses. Rob, Pam and Jim are great people and they were like family to us even tho it was only a short period of time that we’ve known them. They were always putting everyone else first before them and were such great, happy, fun, loving people. Everytime that we hunt, fish or play solfball you will be in our thoughts. We will always love and miss you and you will ALWAYS hold a place in our hearts.

P.S. Rob- we’ll get one…one day!
Magik Columbine says
Sounds like this world lost three wonderful people. Why does it have to happen to the good people?
BPB says
Lets be Honest. This guy had history of driving around drunk, just like most of the good ol boys of the darlington, dublin, street area do. Not a criminal history, just a habbit. Its a shame. He was a nice guy with no ill intent whatsoever. Maybe this will open the eyes of the people that frequent the tavern and harveys. also maybe the sheriffs office and the state police will step up their patrol in these areas to prevent tragedy’s like this one from happening further.
Soccer Mom says
It is not the local police they are locking these people up it’s when they go in front of the judge. Instead of conplaining about the police why don’t you complain about the real problem. These judges are not putting these people away. Yes increased partol’s may prevent the person from killing someone that night or even day but what about when they get out of lock-up a few hours later with a mere slap on the wrist in the future. Wake up people open your eyes it is not the police who are not doing thier job!
Tami says
I am not sure who isn’t doing their jobs but it is clear to me here in Harford County, as it was when I lived in Fells Point, that when the bars close at 2am a great majority of the people leaving them and driving home are over the legal limit. Around here in the rural areas it must be very obvious who they are as most are probably regular patrons and chronic drunk drivers. A regular patrol car in a conspicuous spot may cause some to change their patterns. Then again, maybe not, but then they should be arrested. Over and over and over and over until a judge does the right thing. Take away their license forever. And if they are picked up driving without one, drunk or not, lock them up for a good spell.
BPB says
Well Soccer Mom as a Police Officer I feel that I can talk about that as an issue. Im not blaming the Police here at all, if you read what I wrote I clearly blamed Mr.Grey. In this case the judges would have no prior effect since Mr. Grey has no criminal history, just a bad habbit of driving drunk that I know personally. I do agree with you about the Judges in Harfco not sticking to their guns, however the new drunk driving criteria for sentencing that came into effect October 2, of this year, will force harsher sentencing for all DUI/DWI offenders.
Howver if you ever drive these back roads in the areas I listed in the previous post you will see little to no Police Presence, even on a Friday or Saturday night, maybe 1 Deputy passing through on rt. 1, but thats it. i know there are overtime and manpower issues, as well as furlough days throughout the state, so again im not placing blame. Im just saying some extra DUI enforcement in that area could be effective.
Soccer Mom says
I agree with you that some extra DUI enforcement would be a good thing I was just speaking from experience I personally know two members of my extended family who have been charged with DUI 1 here in Harford county and one in Baltimore county the 1 here has been arrested 8 times for DUI with various minor crashes one even involved a police car hit and run he is still driving with no jail time and a brief stint in rehab, The offender from Baltimore county was arrested 3 times for Dui no crashes but was unable to drive for 2 years and and did 6 months in jail I don’t understand the difference>
onlooker says
Yes it is a shame…this story is a tragedy no matter how you look at it. As you say “He was a nice guy with no ill intent “… a good person, no criminal history just a guy with a bad habit. He most likely has practiced this habit for quite some time with the only consequence being a bad headache in the morning. But just this one time everything aligned in a way that the outcome was tragically different. We should all learn a lesson from this. What ‘bad habit’ do we practice while driving? Weaving in and out of traffic? Going over the speed limit? Dialing the cell phone? Driving when tired? Searching for the Sirius remote that has slipped under the seat? Text messaging while driving? Whatever it is, the consequences are typically no worse than missing your exit or ticking off another driver…until one day when everything aligns and the outcome is different. So before we judge this guy and before we become the next person everyone is blogging about, we need to consider the decisions we make every day that makes us all potential ‘killers’ on the road.
My heart goes out to everyone whose lives have been changed forever because of this…for the three victims, their families and friends, but mostly for their children. As for Travis, regardless of the final outcome he will no doubt be paying for his mistake for the rest of his days. I am sure there will be times when Travis would trade places with one of the three if he could, but I am also sure they would not want to.
Mary says
I think you have said it the best…It only takes one wrong decision and lives can be changed forever
ray oliphant says
before anyone of you continue to feel sorry for the pathetic lump of shit that KILLED three wonderful people who dont drive carelessly go to one of the viewings or funerals and then tell me how you feel people think driving drunk is a joke a freaking game no one will ever realize how serious it is until they have someone they know killed dont drive if you had a beer its really simple people call a cab if you dont have the money for a cab you shouldnt be spending your money on beer anyway we are talking about real lives here wasted rob will never play softball hunt fish wirk kiss his daughter mother father or wife again dont get on here and tell me to feel sorry for travis again you have some balls or better yet put your address on here so i can get tanked up then drive my truck into your living room wich by the way would be my choice to kill you
DW says
I can say this about DUI cases having handled many myself. A DUI report typically has to be longer and more detailed than virtually any other report a patrol officer will ever write. When it finally goes to court, the vast majority of the time there is no jail time (or, at best, a suspended sentence), 1-3 years probation, alcohol classes, and frequently a good portion of the fine is also suspended. Of all the DUI arrests I’ve made (well over 100) maybe 3 or 4 have served any jail time and a lot of them had numerous serious traffic offenses on their record (driving w/out a license, driving on suspended license) as well as prior DUI’s. The police are locking these guys up, but often there aren’t a lot of consequences other than the legal fees and higher insurance rates.
They also can get hit with an extra 2 months in jail and/or $500 fine for refusing to take the test, but I’ve never heard of anyone actually getting those extra penalties for refusing.
BPB says
Yeah realistically the only thing that comes out of any of my DUI cases is what the MVA hands down. The amount of frustration and time that goes into any DUI arrest and report doesnt often amount to any jail time. Ive yet to have one go to court since october of this year so I can’t attest to what will happen under the new stipulations. It seems to me though through my experience that if the driver attends alcohol classes and agrees to the interlok system in their car then they will basically go unpunished, unless death or serious injury occurs.
Id also like to point out that getting a DUI is luck of the draw. I think everyone on here has probably had a beer or a glass of wine and then driven somewhere at some point in their lives. People need to be responsible for themselves. 2 beers at the local bar and then someone runs a stop sign and hits your car driving home. police arrive and smell alcohol on you. you were way under the legal limit but still impaired. Chances are you are getting a DWI. Im not defending drunk drivers at all. I just want to point out that a DUI or DWI could literally happen to anyone depending on the circumstances.
dichatte says
I have never had a drink and gotten behind the wheel so not “everyone” has!
BPB says
I was mearly trying to make a point that everyone that receives a DUI isn’t the habitual drunk POS that people like to think they are. No need to put yourself on a pedestal Dichatte. Im sure you have never sped, rolled through a stop sign, jay walked, or sneezed in church either. I commend you on your lawfulness and thank you for making my job easier. Im just joking no need to get offended.
DW says
I’ve never had a DUI case actually go to trial. They always end up pleaing out to alcohol classes and probation w/ a suspended sentence.
I think I’ve only ever actually seen 3 DUI cases go to trial and they all were because the drivers already had several prior DUI’s and the cases involved crashes so the SA actually was offering jail time instead of just probation.
BPB says
Im having my first one go to trial this December. Its the guys 2nd DUI in a two years. He refused FST and Intoxilyzer and is taking it to a jury trial in an attempt to get the SA to reduce my charge to DWI. hes already refused the plea. 30 days straight time( no work release), 5 years probabtion. 1 year suspended license. But agreed, its always prior offenders taking it to a jury trial.

Hunting & she went to take pictures. Anyone know where Travis was coming from?
dba says
That is very sad. I can’t imagine having to get that phone call at home. You just never know when the last time you are going to see your loved ones.
No don’t know where he was coming from but it seems there is some speculation in here about it.
The whole thing is just so sad.

Travis was coming from a bar in Street where he was completely intoxicated.

rob you will be miss by all .i loved you like a brother and a friend
god bless you and your family .til we meet again bro
John livingston says
Rob, you were an amazing friend to everyone you came in contact with. There was never a time when i needed you and you didnt come through. I would call you all kind of crazy hours for help with problems, not once did you ever say you were busy. I can honestly say i am what i am and know what i know at work truely because of you. Thank you and i love you. Will always be missed by everyone you ever known.
Justin Cooper says
This couldn’t have happened to three nicer people! Rob was the kind of guy who would do anything for you at the drop of a dime. He loved softball and loved to play with all of his teammates. Pam and Jim were two of the nicest people I have ever met. They sponsored our softball team and always came to every game. I am truly sorry that Rob will never get to see his 2 girls grow up, never get to see them graduate high school & college, never get to walk them down the isle all because of a bad decision made by 1 person. I hope that Travis thinks about that everyday of his life even though a lifetime of thinking about that wouldn’t compare to what these families are going through these next couple of days as they say their FINAL goodbyes and bury their loved ones. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of these three great friends!!! You guys will be missed!!!
Peter Andrew Bielanski says
Everyone…
First of all i would like to thank you all for all your support. I am very sympathetic to both robs family, and Grey’s as well. I know Grey made the mistake that cost my parents and friends their lives, but i think the last thing Pam,Jim & Rob would want is us all to be going back and forth. Grey did make a mistake and he does have to live with it…but he doesn’t deserve to die for it, and i do believe he will emotionally and probably judicially pay as well…but i do hope that he does get help and it never happens to anyone again, but please lets all put the anger behind…focus on the positive and try to make it through the next day…if anyone wants to talk or disagree with this my email is attached and my phone number is 443-449-1117 and i would like to extend my thoughts and prayers to the family of Robert Arbogast and Travis Grey as well. I hope Grey gets the help and proper and fair treatment i would expect everyone to get. I hope if rehab is required he gets it, if he needs psychological help he gets it, but i just want to make sure it never happens to anyone again. If there is anything anyone needs or anything i can do to help anyone else who wants to talk please call me or email me.
Thank You… Peter Andrew Bielanski 2nd.

You are right and I dont really want anything bad to happen to anyone but i may sound crazy but i feal like if they put you in jail for ten yrs for driving drunk how many people do you think would drive drunk. If they cut your hand off for stealing and you knew it would happen if you stole how many people would steal the laws should be much harder on drunk drivers.pam jim and rob were awesome and its just not fair that they are gone did you see the size of theyre truck how did this even happen that thing was a tank i hope travis does the right thing and gets all of the help he needs and tells his story to others and maybe just maybe it saves three lives

pete, You are very very right about one thing for sure, Rob,Pam, and Jim wouldnt want us to be angry at travis gray for doing this horrible act. That is exactly why im freaking angry.I hope he reads this and im certain he will.Travis I just want you to realize how special the people were that you took from us. I went to viewings, funerals and receptions of all three that you murdered.Over the last three days and what I didnt know about them before I certaintly know now. They were loved and respected by more people then anyone else I know.Pam and Jim lived a life on full speed they were extremely fulfilled just having each other everything else was just icing on the cake. They sponsored two softball teams of mine and came to every single game unless they were at a ravens game or a fishing trip wich they usually worked around softball games.Pam would take pictures of everybody and laugh about dirt on my butt after i tough slide and encourage us to play hard and not complain.Jim was right there next to his soulmate every week laughing and cheering us on even encouraging me to keep going at it with a horrible umpire i was arguing with at a game at dundalk middle in the playoffs a game that when me and my brother matt were kicked out of.I ended up sitting with jim and pam telling them i dont usually argue with umpires like this if you guys sponsor my sluggers team next year i promise ill be good.Pam gave me that big ol smile that she ALWAYS had on her face and said no you wont ray and thats why we love ya.Pam and jim always invited you to parties ,i never knew when i would get an invite to be a naked jello wrestler or wear a costume to another ar a ravens jersey to another the point is they were great people and i took for granted the time i had to spend with them and noe i will never have that time back.I will never go hunting with rob jim and pam i will never go fishing with them i will never go to a ravens game or a party or see them again when my team goes out on the field to play softball on sunday they will not be there. They will be in the ground where you put them.I dont even know where to begin with rob .There were over two hundred vehicles at his funeral his entire company fidelity engineering was there even the bigwigs it was a sight to see i was fourth in line and all you could see for as far as you could see were whate vans.Rob even had a police escort front back and middle.Rob could fix your car Rob could fix your boat,Rob could fix your air conditioner Rob could do anything he wanted to do I also took Rob for granted ,thought id have him forever so did everybody do you know why? Rob was also reliable, he was early to everything and if he was late he was helping somebody somewhere but you knew he would be there eventually because he said he would.Rob was loyal ,to his wife to his friends to his job.Rob had a passion for life that i didnt even realize until his death. The man worked i dont know how many hours a week did side jobs fixed shit in person or over the phone he was married had two daughters and still had time to hunt fish join the moose play softball 4 days a week somehow know 50 cops paramedics and military people.I dont know he was probably on a chess team somewhere that i dont even know about the guy was amazing a real mans man.Rob would bring his daughter to all of our softball games we would play baggo she would take the bags and run.If you made a bad play she would def let you know. She loved her father so much it is what makes me the most upset when i think about how many more games or tournaments we all would have went to together with her there with her father and her there bugging us or walking to a concession stand with her dad to get a hotdog and now that will never happen again Rob was our leadoff hitter Rob was her whole world. You TRAVIS GRAY took that from her from us.I dont know the rest of robs family but he had two dads a brother that looks just like him and a very loving wife that im certain have there own stories of rob and what he meant to them.Thats about all i can say Rob you made me smile you always had an upbeat attitude no matter what i know we werent best friends but i still respect your spirit as a human being you really dont know what you have until its gone and i hope your passing has and will continue to help people get a grip on reality live life one day at a time and go out and do something dont sit on your couch and let life pass you by.And if you are really as pissed as i am about drunk drivers taking over the streets and our lives write as many letters as you can to whoever you need to to make something happen cause you or me could be next or your mother father brother sister loved one etc…Travis gray I pray you get the help you need and wake up maybe go talk to people about what youve done and how many people who you hurt and maybe just maybe apologize and ask for forgiveness
Tanya T Lewis says
Ray,
This really was awesome to read and brought a smile to Brookes face. She truly loved her dad more then words could ever say. She took for granted those softball games and fishing trips as many of us do. She took for granted that trip to Ocean City for that softball tournament with Rob, Pam and Jim. Pam made them go parasailing which both her and Rob really enjoyed. Pam took pictures of them way up in the air with huge smiles on their faces, which she will now treassure forever. Who would have known that phone call Friday night, just a few hours before this tradgic, Totally preventable accident, that would be her last? I think there are many lessons to be learned from this horrific experience that we are going through, First and foremost, never drink and drive or knowingly look the other way as others do, & never take for granted one moment you have, as it may be your last. My daughter is strong and will make it through with the love and support that is being offered from all of those that Rob touched.

First of all my condolences goes out to all families involved. When you are born your days are numbered and if any of you “know god” you can relate to what i’m talking about. We are not here on earth forever so for all of you who hold grudges and haven’t talked to family in years need to pick up the phone and call them because you never know when they are going to leave this earth. None of us are saints and Travis is not the first drunk driver or the last drunk driver, it’s just an unfortunate situation and God was ready for his angels to come on, so stay prayed up and pray for Travis as well.
Ashlei says
Yes, it is a tragedy for all involved. But you don’t get drunk out of your mind at a local watering hole, try to “sleep it off” for a bit and then take to the road aiming a 3/4 ton weapon at innocent people.
Sandi B says
I have determined after 50 years of life, that I despise drunk drivers more than I do drug dealers. You can choose to live your life drug free and away from drug dealers, criminals, bad crime areas of the cities and counties. But you cannot choose to stay away from drunk drivers. They are everywhere – they are like predators that hunt down innocent people and take their lives and snuff them out without any regard. You can be the safest operator of a vehicle in the entire world, operating your vehicle in broad daylight of the morning, or in the dusk of the evening, or late at night – doing everything you are supposed to be doing – you pay attention, you don’t talk on the phone or text, you mind your business and then your life is snuffed out by some irresponsible person who CHOSE to get behind the wheel of a loaded weapon drunk or impaired. You cannot avoid them, they are every where – you never know when your number is up – when you will be a victim. You never know … it’s scary is hell – you pray for your family and friends every day – that they will be safe from crime in their homes and in their schools and work places, and then they are snuffed out like a cigarette by a drunk driver.
It was almost a year to the day that a family was wiped out – minus one minor child who survived – on the Bel Air Bypass when a drunk driver took out their family vehicle last year. He had caused an accident earlier in the day on Mountain Road which didn’t injure or kill anyone until he met this family head-on on the Bypass. Their vehicle erupted into flames and the mother, father and one child were killed and taken in an instant. One child was left to go on alone.
Where is the sense in this? Where is the mercy? The justice?? This guy had a history of D.U.I.s – now he has murdered three innocent people – yes murdered – just like the suicide bombers in Iraq … it’s no different. It is no different.
Our judicial system had GOT to start dealing out tougher sentences. After the first DUI these people have got to have those breath testers in their cars and blow into them before their vehicle can be started and driven. We deserve to be protected from people who would intentionally cause us harm by driving when they are drunk or impaired. I do not want to suffer a loss like all of these people have suffered. It is not a drunk’s right to kill my friends and family – and no, I don’t feel sorry for Mr. Gray. I feel sorry for the families and the friends of the loved ones who were killed by Mr. Gray. Mr. Gray will go out and have a few beers to kill the pain and he’ll be right back on track again. No, I don’t feel sorry for him at all. I hope he learns a valuable lesson from this mayhem he caused.
So friend of Mr. Gray, so valiantly standing up for him, why don’t you take him to AA or NA, and then you can take him to the cemetery to visit his victims. That would be a start for him to earn forgiveness – try to help himself stand up on his two sober feet and ask for forgiveness from the victim’s family and friends.

Peter: My deepest and heartfelt sympathy to you, your family and your friends. I wanted you to know how much I admire your courage, strength, and your sincere pure heart. I also will be praying for Travis Grey and I hope he gets the help he will need. I take great relief in the knowledge that you forgive Mr. Grey. I hope that Mr. Grey knows Jesus that he can find the strength through his faith for sobriety. You’re 100% right that we shouldn’t be angry, we should be forgiving and helpful – but I guess we are human, and we can certainly take a lesson from you on that! You’re parents would be extremely proud of you. I am.
I am so sorry that this tragedy has happened to your family, and yes, you are right, I sincerely hope and pray this type of tragedy never happens again to anyone. If I can help you in any way, please contact me. Thank you and God Bless You and your family.

Md Lobbyist With 7 DUIs Sentenced To Probation
Thursday, November 19, 2009
Scott Wykoff and Associated Press
A Maryland lobbyist with seven drunken-driving convictions has been let out of jail after spending a little more than a month there for his latest arrest.
Fifty-three-year-old David A. Jacobs had been in jail since pleading guilty Oct. 13 in connection with an April crash. Jacobs, of Mitchellville, was drunk when he lost control of his Honda Pilot and struck another car and a guardrail.
On Wednesday, Prince George’s District Court Judge Hassan Ali El-Amin ordered Jacobs to an in-patient alcohol treatment program for 28 days. He also sentenced him to three years of supervised probation.
The state’s attorney’s office expressed disappointment with what it called “a slap-on-the-wrist sentence.”
Jacobs has lobbied in Annapolis for the county council and the sheriff’s department.
katelyn says
I heard that story this morning on WBAL radio. It was depressing. Did he even lose his driver’s license for any period of time?
DW says
I dunno, but I’m guessing probably not. The MVA probably just put a work & education restriction on it along with the alcohol restriction (which given his history probably was already on it.)
Suspending or revoking someone’s license doesn’t do much. Most of them still drive at least occasionally anywyay.
Braveheart says
Jesse Bane is really losing the confidence of the County. Hopefully one of the four Republican candidates has leadership and policing skills needed to bring back real policing and fiscal discipline to the Sheriff’s Office. I’m worried Meckley & Bodway are Bane clones. Anybody have any intel on Shitz and Gahler?
Wise Old Guy says
You can rest assured that Bodway is NOT a “Bane Clone”.
DW says
Sheriff Bane may have his faults and there certainly are plenty of legitimate gripes about his administration, but blaming this on him or his policies is absurd.
The only person responsible is Travis Grey.
I’m actually tempted to give every drunk I arrest in the future the link to this story and comments and tell them to go read it.
Magik Columbine says
Amen!! All the comments just show that it affects so many lives.
jimmy stillwell says
Jesse Bane has nothing more to do with what happened to those three really good folks dying than the man in the moon…a drunk, at any bar in the county, or out of the county for that matter, gets behind the wheel and heads out into the night…no lawman can prevent that from happening…
i’m heartbroken about the loss of the three lives, and the children and families that will be in tears on Thanksgiving Day…and the prayers we all share cannot bring them back to us….
the scum that drink and drive and resist someone offering to ‘let me drive you home’…no one will ever be able to stop what can happen when they get behind the wheel…
the best thing that could have happened to the other driver, the ‘killer driver’ is for someone to have come upon the accident and just beat the shit out of him…beat his ass senseless….
it’s come to that folks…the judge won’t do it, we have to do it.
Danetta R says
I am so sorry for the 3 lives lost, it will forever effect lives of those that knew / know them. I met Rob when I was in the 7th grade. I didn’t keep in touch after high school, even though we went to the same school. I remember him being kind and caring.
I lost a very dear friend to a drunk driver. I for years in HS belonged to S.A.D.D. and currently still belong to M.A.D.D. I do not understand why anyone would drink even one drink and get in a car to drive. No one will understand what was in the mind of anyone that does that, but knowing that YOU have killed someone or in this case 3 people. Essentially it has killed 3 families and everyone that it touches. I am saddened that these families will forever sit and ponder the thoughts and wonder did these 3 people truely know that they were loved, appreciated and cared for. I am sure that some people will say yes, but in someones heart there might be the question. The thing that sucks is that no one can look them in the eye, hold their hand, hug them, say I love you, or be with the families they should still be with…BUT the one that drank and drove….you will have a life of hell and you should. I HOPE that every day you remember these 3 people. I do not wish you harm, but wish you see the harm you have done. You had a choice and YOU chose to drive drunk! That is no ones fault but the DRIVER! He should be charged with 3 counts of manslaughter. He did not set out to hurt anyone at 4:30 in the morning, but HE DID! Now he has to deal with that and should suffer the consequences of HIS actions. NO ONE will ever bring back these 3 people, but even if you are in jail your family will be able to see you at the holidays, tell you they love you, etc. Even in jail you can get an education, work out and have a job…yeah not the best life…BUT IT BEATS DEATH! P.S. I am for capital punishment. Accidents happen, b/cuz it was an accident…THIS IS MANSLAUGHTER! YOU had a choice….
Sandi B says
——————————————————————————–
Yes, that’s some man you’re standing up for – I’m glad to see he’s been on this chatboard defending himself and apologizing to the Arbogast’s and the Bielanski’s and all of their friends who are so obviously devastated and hurting to their very souls.
The only reason I can even begin to forgive the man is because of what Peter wrote in his chat board post – and the fact that he left his phone number for anyone to call him and discuss why he has forgiven him. That is a mature young man who has his act together. He makes all of us angry people look really bad. I am so proud of him for his stance in all this … I have to say, if it were me, I don’t know that I could be as eloquent as him.
tweetygirl says
You clearly are angry and that is understandable, however you really do have a misconseption!! There are many good people in this world that make bad decisions everyday and I am sure you have made a few!!! People suffer everyday by bad decisions weather it be hurt physically or mentally. All of you people on hear who say that you are christians and make judgements clearly are not christians!!! I pray for the familys of the ones who have lost there lives! I also pray for Travis’s family and friends who know that he is a good man who would not hurt anyone on purpose. Travis has a love for life, people and children. We can not bring back the ones that are gone all we can do is ask for forgiveness and all of you on here passing judgment should be ashamed of yourselves. Go to bed tonight and think about all the friends and family you have that are going to have a glass a wine or a beer this holiday and perhaps get in a car! What if it was your brother, father, sister , uncle ect that was the one to harm another?? Would you still feel the same way? Would you stop loving them because they made a mistake? Would you be by there side even though you know what they did was wrong? Then pray for forgiveness for passing judgment on someone you don’t know!!!!!!!
Patricia says
And how would you feel the when someone who makes a bad mistake, apparently all the time from what i hear, takes the life of your family member? You would not want to give that person forgiveness. Yes Travis might feel bad about his mistake, I hope that he sits in jail so that he cannot make this mistake to anyone else again. I was suppose to be with me aunt and uncle on thanksgiving and now they are gone, so excuse me for having a bad taste in my mouth for his mistake. It always seems to be that the drunk driver lives in these types of accidents and the innocent people die, when it should be the other way around. I dont know Travis, no I dont, but what i know about him, I greatly dislike!! I know he is a drunk who took 3 innocent people’s lives. Is he was truely sorry, he would place himself in jail and tell the truth about what really happened that night and at the bar, if he wasn’t too drunk to remember. There are some mistakes that the heart cannot forgive so easily and you need to know that as a family member of the loss, we cannot forgive at this moment. If Travis goes to jail and trys to get serious help, maybe we will forgive, but we all need time. We are all tired of seeing things on here about how wonderful he is and such. Honestly you make us want to write more bad things about him. If you let us just write things about my aunt and uncle and rob and keep the “travis is great’ shit to yourself, we would appreciate it. He should not be with us enjoying his family on thanksgiving! My aunt, uncle, and rob should. My Aunt and Uncle are leaving so many family members behind and Rob is leaving behind a new wife of 6 months, a 4 year old, and a 15 year old… So if there is anger in our hearts for Travis, it should be understandable!!!! His immature actions took 3 innocent people and he needs to be behind bars so he does not do this again!

Sandi B.Do use a favor check on your computer and find your Websters dictionary and look up to words for use,#1 is ACCIDENT,YES it is a word and it has a meaning, and #2 PRE-MEDITATED please let me help you out on this.”TO PLAN OUT AN ACT BEFORE COMMITING THE ACT.I’ve never in my 17 years of hanging out in a bar, night club,or a back yard party ever see or hear anyone do or say OH’ im going to get drunk and then drive down a road and just randomly pick a vehicle and try to kill someone.Think about what your saying.Because it sounds like your mad and you have every right to be.But if you check with the statisticks with how accidents happen and there’s that word again.People driving with anger built up inside are at risk of having an accident and killing someone and the word for that is “ROAD RAGE”.It happens everyday.Everyday you wake up and you get in a vehicle you put your life in DANGER reguardless of what you or anyone else is doing. And for those that are writting these blogs on this page and are old enough to go into a bar and drink and are talking about being responsable and leaving a bar after they ve had a few to many to drink should stop and think about what there saying because ill bet you everyone talking about this accident has done it at least one time or more so my suggestion to those that read this need to take a step back and thank god that they had luck on there side those times they did.And dont even think about responding to this because if you hung out in a bar or been at a friends house and was drinking you know you did wrong so stop pointing fingers because you know you did wrong.Hpoefully those of you that do drink will wake the F___K UP and look for some AA meetings and continue to and spread the word to others that this LIQUID is posion and it kills weather you drive under the influence or it kills your insides. You have the choose to make a diffrence.Do something about it and make a choice.Alcohol is a drug to just like Crack,Cocaine,Heroin, etc. We need to step back in time and get a proabition started on it.The shit kills it destroys familys DO YOU PEOPLE AGREE if not one day you will find out the hard way. You’ll see.

this fatal car crash was caused by a drunk driver who i just heard tried to commit suiside and is now in a sycho institute. the people who were all taken from us to early one were family of mine and 2, were very very respected by everyone who knew james beilanski, pamela beilanski, and robert williamn arbogast I’m freinds with the daughter of rob and she is very very hurt but im here for her whenever needed because my father died 2 years ago and im here for the family. The funerals of them all were very depressing no matter what the circumstances they will all be missed deeply and the day it happened i want every one to know that mr.James B. tried very hard to move out of the way and tried to get his wheels to stick on the hill and when he did the causer had alredy hit the side of another car which made him swerve into james and pamela’s truck. you will be missed forever you all were grear people. i love you mr.jim and mrs.pam forever i will always remember you and every memory we shared mr.rob i didnt know you well but the most i knew is that you left behind wonderful people who will miss you forever (R.I.P.JAMES AND PAMELA BEILANSKI AND ROBERT ARBOGAST.)

Michele Stevenson – please stop your ridiculous posting – if you don’t like hunters – don’t hunt. Leave alone the good people’s memory who were killed here. It is obvious that you are a stupid idiot with ridiculous opinions that don’t belong on a chat room where intelligent people are exchanging thoughts.
I could go on and on and tell you why hunting is good, and why people hunt, and what would happen to the animals if there was no hunting – and I could tell you how much revenue the hunters generate for the State of Maryland, and how many programs are safe that benefit animals because of the revenue generated by hunters purchasing their licenses to hunt… but you would understand what I was saying – because you obviously have ZERO intelligence. Do not even begin to declare that my Lord, Jesus Christ, had anything to do with this accident – that he worked in a mysterious way because these people were hunters.
If that was the case – it’s going to come around to you, too, because you are blasphemous and stupid and you have no idea in your head that even makes a lick of sense. So go away and take your ridiculous stupidity with you. Idiot.

I would like to know why Travis Gray has not been charged with dui, vehicular manslaughter, or anything for that matter. He is able to walk freely around his girlfriends house, eat, smoke and do whatever while 3 innocent people were buried this week. Anyone who knows Travis and I did, knows that this was bound to happen! He always drank and then drove. He use to be a nice level headed kind person but over the years he turned into an asshole and thinks he is above everything. He is and has been a drunk and everyone knows it around town.
I am really angry that the papers and news stations minimized the whole accident and didn’t even talk about Old School Tavern staying open until 4:00am as it did most weekends for the good ole harford county boys that kept spending money like Travis Gray, the bigshot!!! Jim, Pam and Rob were conducting their lives and then boom Travis and his drunk ass came and plowed them down in a blink of an eye!! I hope the legal system not only puts him away for a long long time but that they make him talk to people about what he has done so it can maybe stop someone else from doing the same thing.
concerned says
Well, I think there will be charges in the accident, but would you rather they rush in with haste, miss something that let’s him off scott free on appeal or worse before trial. After the OJ mess years ago, I would hope that they have all their i’s dotted and t’s crossed before they move forward to ensure that there are no loopholes.
Sandi B. says
Yes, I agree – but they are taking their time to make sure the correct charges are placed in this matter. Once they charge him with a couple of counts of something – they can’t change it – and it may not be in the best interests of the victims or the State’s case to charge him just yet. He will be charged – just hold on for a bit – it will actually be better if the Grand Jury indicts him anyway – and that does take time. Justice will be served – we just have to give the wheels of justice some time to grind forward. We are anxious for Justice in this matter – but it has to be done right by the State so no mistakes are made, mistakes that result in technicalities, etc., and to make sure they charge him correctly which will be a shoe-in for a conviction.
DW says
There are probably a couple reasons why he hasn’t been officially charged yet. If he did end up getting taken to a hospital (I don’t know if he was or not…if not then he’d be doing the regular test which gives the results within minutes) then the police have to complete a blood kit and send it to the lab for the results which takes time (normally several weeks, though I’m sure they expedite it in this case.)
They’re also going to take it in front of the Grand Jury to get a criminal indictment issued. The Grand Jury only meets a couple times a month. Once that happens a warrant will likely be issued and he’ll have to post bond at the jail (I doubt he’d get no bond.)
As far as him attempting suicide…that’s the easy and coward’s way out and he doesn’t deserve that.
JM says
The statement made that Travis tried to commit suicide is absolutly false. You should not write something you know nothing about, thats how rumners get started.
Patricia says
Hey I was him, id do it for taking 3 wonderful people from this world! He needs to be arrested and be rotting in jail!! Damn bastard!

leave your address before you run your mouth again punk. Man i wish all you bitches on here would leave your addresses, i would xxxx you up so bad. The tavern, you, linda, michelle and anyone else on here that says a bad word out of there mouth about rob, jim or pam really should shut the xxxx up. I don’t even need to handle you and i wont obviously, but Rob had alot of friends that were sherrif’s county cops.city cops,Detectives,HUNTERS,softball players, state troopers and people that would gladly take his place you, travis and anyone else that is involved in tarnishing rob, pam, and jims life might honestly wanna think twice before opening your stupid xxxxx mouths. The shame is that Rob,pam, and Jim were really nice and would definitly forgive all of you.Unfortunatly for you the rest of his friends and coworkers arent as nice and when word gets out of your stupid insensitive words on here, your gonna wish you could take them back.Do you guys know that Rob and pam and jims family come on here and read this stuff why would you say something like they deserved what they got.Does a fifteen yr old deserve to lose her wonderful father.I don’t care who gave travis shots and beer or that he made a mistake just dont defend him for driving drunk and say people deserve to die.
Ashlei says
My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims; however, the guilty party gets no sympathy from me. Too bad his suicide attempt was unsuccessful. That would’ve served as the only deterrent to his returning to the streets to commit another murder.
concerned says
While there have been many nice and thoughtful messages posted here in the past week, unfortunately a few have chosen to disregard the request of the Bielanski’s son. The posts have become progressively disrespectful to the memory of the 3 lives taken abruptly and many years too soon. I ask that you all go back and read Peter’s posted request and honor it.
Sandi B. says
Yes, I agree – Peter posted a wonderful message asking for peace and respect and forgiveness. The longer this goes on, the uglier it gets – I am guilty myself of being ugly when I read some of these posts – I feel like I must speak out. Perhaps the time has come to stop feeding into the frenzy the ignorance and stupidity of some posts cause.
It’s been one week today – I’m sure charges or an indictment will be forthcoming. We should follow up and make sure the law works for the victims in this case. But perhaps it’s time to stop this bantering back and forth. We need to respect Peter’s request…

to you cindy, u stupid bitch, for one, you were not at the bar on that friday night, 2, they were not pouring shots down his throat, and u need to keep your mouth shut about things you know nothing about because i know you have not viewed the video because if u have you would have seen that travis had nothing to drink besides one bottle of water past 1:15 and if anyone doesnt believe that go to the cops and ask them because they are the only ones that have seen the video not that drug addict cindy, i am greatly sorry for everyones loss and my thoughts and prayers are with both famillys and friends
Patricia Horney says
I dont care what he had to drink or when. Point of the matter is that he was intoxicated when he killed my aunt and uncle and rob. He drove drunk. Whether the bar was ‘pouring’ drinks down his throat or not, Travis took three lives because he could not control his consumption!! Dont make excuses for someone for taking lives. I hope Travis gets what he deserves and he will. And have you read the police statement? No! He was completely intoxicated at 4:30 in the morning!!! Someone should of called him a cab!! And if he wasnt that drunk because his last drink was a bottle of water at 1:15am then obviously is Incompetent to be driving on the road!! He crossed two yellow lines that had even groves in it!!!! No one make excuses for someone who takes 3 innocent people’s lives!
Amanda says
It is a horrible tragedy what happend but to place blame on anyone but the person behind the wheel is completely senseless. No one knows what really happened at the bar that night except that Travis what extremely intoxicated. Going back and saying what should or could have been done is not going to change anything. Travis is a grown man and this is his mistake no one else’. I am not defending his actions by any means to drive drunk is stupid and reckless but it is not the fault of the bartender or bar to keep tabs on every drunk that walks through the door. My hearts go out to the victims.
Patricia says
Wrong! It is by the law the bartender’s responsibility to keep tabs on EVERYONE they serve. They are held liable for the individual they serve. They are suppose to cut someone off when they are over the limit or at it. Also, it is the bartender and the establishment’s responsibility to offer to intoxicated person a cab and if they refuse IT IS THE BARS AND BARTENDER’S responsibility to call the police and to inform the person who left their bar. that is where your 110% wrong!! I know I serve drinks to customers as well. I cut people off and make sure they have a ride or call a cab. If the establishment and it’s bartenders cannot serve responsibly then they should not be serving drinks at all!! The establishment and bartenders are just as responsible be ALL MEANS!! It is law that they do and since they are putting others in danger just to make a profit, they should lost their liquor license and should be shut down immediately!!
Justin says
There is no Dram Shop law in place in Maryland. Bartenders (or “social hosts”) are not legally responsible for what intoxicated individuals do after they leave the premises. In fact, Maryland doesn’t even hold a bartender responsible if a minor is served alcohol and then causes an accident, outside being cited for serving alcohol to a minor. Civil responsibility is another matter, and an argument could be made.
DW says
They can be held civilly liable in a lawsuit, but not criminally liable. Yes, there is a responsibility on the bartender’s part to cut off overly intoxicated subjects and offer to call them a cab, but it’s a moral responsibility not a legal one.
Patricia says
But when the bar is serving drinks past 2 am, like I’ve heard what this bar was doing.. they are liable!
ray oliphant says
I worked for ruby tuesdays yrs ago and a bartender there seved someone who was intoxicated clearly drunk .The guy drove drunk and got a dwi.Ruby tuesdays had to pay a 15 thousandd dollar fine couldnt serve alcohol for 6 months and the manager bartender and someone else were fired also fined thousands of dollars so i know for a fact you can get in deep shit for serving alcohol to people and not cutting them off
DW says
And those fines were probably from citations issued by the liquor board and not the police. That’s about the same as me issuing a civil citation to someone under 21 who is in possession of alcohol (though on grander scale.) It’s a civil violation ($500 fine and no jail time), not a criminal violation. Criminal violations can carry jail time.
If they were fired, that’s Ruby Tuesday’s doing and not the police, courts, or liquor board.

I have to agree and am saddened to see so much hate in some of these posts. Please remember the good and post the good. For the people that so choose to write things in disgrace or things that are not fact please for the 3 that past they would not want such negitive things spent on them. Instead write how great they were and are in your hearts! They will forever be in your lives through memory and love. The haters can just go away…stay positive!
JM says
Travis Gray did not try to commit suicide people should really get their facts straight before putting them out there.
Patricia says
Thats what the sheriff said.
Friends of Street says
He did try to commit suicide. He got transferred to an institution for suicidal people. I think this JM person needs to learn to get there story straight. I’m friends with both sides in this matter.
Cee Cee says
Travis did not try to commit suicide, he is doing as well as can be expected and says it’s on his mind every second! He is going thru hell and wishes it was him that died…does that make all you haters out there happy? Shame on all of you negative waste’s of space!
Patricia says
Travis needs to be in jail than!! Sorry, but please dont come up here and defend him by puring salt on open wounds! Wont help his case at all! He should and will be in jail rotting for what he has done!! Your right he should of died instead of my aunt and uncle and rob, who is leaving a 4 year old and a 15 year old!! Fell better about that?
ray oliphant says
put you address down then you must have a fifth grade education
Maxwell says
My thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and families of the victims of this horrible tragedy.
I believe that the delay in charging Mr. Gray is a result of the States Attorney’s Office wanting to be sure that everything is in order for a successful prosecution.
It is a shame that such poor judgment has resulted in these deaths. I’m sure Mr. Gray didn’t set out to kill these victims, but let it be a lesson to everyone – getting behind the wheel of a car while you are drunk puts you and everyone on the road at risk. Once you make that decision to drive drunk, lives are in danger. If you don’t intend to kill, then don’t drive after you’ve been drinking. I’m sure Mr. Gray does feel badly about what happened – he’s ended 3 lives and basically ruined his own life. I hate to be so mean, but it was his decision to drink and drive that killed these 3 people.
I also believe that Bar Owner and Bartender in this case have some culpability as well. No bar in the state of Maryland is allowed to serve alcohol at past 2AM in the morning. Those that hold liquor licenses have responsibilities under the law and it seems apparent here that they broke the law. They need to be held accountable under the law, just like Travis Gray will be.
I encourage the families of the victims in case to pursue any and all civil remedies available to you. It won’t bring your loved ones back, but it will send a message. If that message is heard maybe some positive charge can come and you may just save someone else from the grief you are going through today.
Patricia says
I agree, that the establishment should be held responsible. And as a niece of the two victims, I will make sure Travis is held behind bars and does not take another innocent life!
One4Life says
For those who are so angry and disgruntled over the results of the crash, what has happened has happened. I hope and pray those whose lives were taken are in heaven. However, I also believe they are looking down upon those making the unnecessary and pointless comments on a website and crying more over the hatred you pour online than that of their own lives being taken. You will and are going to live with a loss, forever. But, for those who choose to live their lives the rest of the way in such a manner that fits, you will see these three again. Hatred and condemnation will do nothing but guide you in the wrong direction. We all have and are going to lose those close to us, unfortunately for some it came at a time too soon. Let those who left us be grateful for the care and love you all share for them, not disappointed on the way people may act after their lives were taken. As Jesus stated in the Bible, Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone. Some sins may be more severe than others, but the Lord looks at them all the same. Be happy that they are in a better place, and let them prepare a better place for you once you get there.
ray oliphant says
shut up and let people heal through there own way.Stop posting jesus quotes on here I know plenty if I have to hear he who cast the first stone one more time im gonna lose it.Your prob smoking pot right now listening to led zeppelin quoting the bible.I gotta a quote for you “WHEN SOMEONE DIES AND THERE FRIENDS WANT TO EXPRESS THERE ANGER ABOUT IT .LET THEM GRIEVE IN THERE OWN WAY DONT DEFEND THE GUY WHO KILLED THERE FRIEND OR QUOTE THE BIBLE IN HIS FAVOR OR TALK ABOUT HOW BAD HE FEELS ESPECIALLY IF YOU DONT KNOW THE PERSON WHO DIED LOSER. That quote was from me in case anybody was wondering ONE MORE QUOTE FOR YOU THOU SHALL NOT KILL AND THINE EYE SHALL NOT PITY,BUT LIFE SHALL GO FOR LIFE ,EYE FOR EYE,TOOTH FOR TOOTH,HAND FOR HAND,FOOT FOR FOOT its a good thing we don’t follow god’s laws because travis would be killed by a drunken drivewr wouldnt he
One4Life says
murder is premeditated…this wasn’t, the law is written such that premeditated murder is something planned prior to the event…if anything this was involuntary manslaughter

Pam, Jim, and Rob let me just say we all miss you sooo much! Pam and Jim you were more of a mother and a father to me then my own parents. I feel so honored to have been able to of met you and been apart of your life and your family. Don’t you two worry Pete and Tiff are being so strong. They have so much of you two in them. Both equally strong and have a good head on their shoulders not to mention and loving heart. I can honestly say you two did an amazing job of raising two such wonderful people. We will all continue to stick together and be strong for one another. I just don’t understand how something like this could of happened. It doesn’t seem real. I miss you guys so much.
