From Chesapeake Harley-Davidson:
Amelia’s Ace of Hearts charity motorcycle ride took place on June 26, 2010. This is the fifth annual ride where hundreds of generous motorcycle enthusiasts come out to support breast cancer research. All proceeds are donated to the Maryland affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure ®.
This year’s ride, hosted by Chesapeake Harley-Davidson, drew in 387 motorcycle riders and 165 passengers registered, and is on target to donate over $17,000 to the worthy cause. The ride kicked off with our hostess of the event, Amelia, from 98 Rock’s morning show saying a few words about our dedication to help find a cure for the disease that touches so many. This year they also set up a charity site through https://charity.gofundme.com/c/blog/how-to-start-a-nonprofit.
Also there, was a survivor who was assisted by Susan G. Komen Maryland. “As soon as I was out of treatment, I went straight to the Harley dealership,” were her words of encouragement.
Our 50 mile route meandered through scenic Darlington and Conowingo Maryland, as well as our Pennsylvania neighbors of Delta, Buck and Holtwood.
On one corner, a survivor held a sign saying “Thank You” with a pink ribbon, waiving to show her gratitude toward the riders. Afterwards, Port Deposit’s Union Hotel opened its arms to invite the riders to celebrate with an after party. Music for the day’s events was donated by Relicoustic, State of You and Full Throttle. Many thanks to the local Volunteer Fire Companies who helped make our route safe (Darlington, Whiteford, Delta, Airville, and Rawlinsville). Also assisting with our route was the Harford County Sheriff’s office and Shawn Floyd of the Maryland State Police, who donated his time to escort the ride through the beautiful countryside. Each year the goal is to make the event, bigger and better while ensuring the safety of our riders. We hope to see YOU on next year’s ride!
