Woman Robbed and “Brutally Assaulted” With Stun Gun and Hammer in Edgewood

From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:

On Saturday, September 11, 2010 at approximately 7:50pm, Cara Louise Giacomozzi, age 49, of Baltimore, MD was robbed and assaulted near the intersection of Edgewood Road and Pulaski Hwy in Edgewood, MD.

At approximately 8:00pm on September 11, 2010, Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company and Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a 911 call made by residents in the 3700 block of Abingdon Beach Road when a female knocked on their front door seeking emergency assistance. The female, identified as Cara Giacomozzi, age 49 of Baltimore, MD was suffering from multiple injuries sustained during a robbery that had occurred moments earlier.

Shortly before 8:00pm, Ms. Giacomozzi was walking in the Edgewood area of Harford County, when she was approached by a silver four-door car driven by a woman described as in her late 20’s with long blond hair, who asked her a question and offered her a ride home. In addition to the female driver, inside the vehicle were two white males described to be in their late 20’s, both with crew cut style haircuts, and an infant under the age of two in a car safety seat.

Once inside the vehicle, the male (seen in the composite drawing) stole cash and cigarettes from the victim, while brutally assaulting her with a stun device and a club/hammer. Ms. Giacomozzi was able to escape from the moving vehicle in the 3700 block of Abingdon Beach Road, less than a mile from the location where the event began.

Transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Hospital by Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company, Ms. Giacomozzi was treated for her injuries and later released.
