From Del. Wayne Norman:
Dear Editor,
I am elated by the overwhelming support that the voters voiced for my values of conservative, limited government that count small business and low taxes as the creators of jobs, opportunity, and prosperity on Election Day. In Harford and around the country citizens stood up and joined me in saying “we have had enough!”
Even while struggling with a recession caused by big government, people exercised their right to vote for their leaders. This historic election showed that hard work and a common cause can achieve a big change. I am excited to return to Annapolis and to have your support to make a big difference for our state.
I am also excited that Harford is sending new leaders to make that difference, with conservatives Kathy Szeliga and Glen Glass joining the Harford County delegation. I was delighted that our common values were triumphant, and thank Jason Gallion for supporting me in the general election after we debated how to best accomplish our shared goals in the primary.
I must also thank my Democrat opponents, Joseph Gutierrez and John Jones. We disagree on policy and principle, but they are both respectable gentlemen and our differences were debated in a fair and honest manner.
I am humbled to be able to give a special thank you to my wife, Linda, son, Chip, daughter, Ashley, and to all of the many volunteers who as my friends gave countless hours to bringing our message before the voters.
Thank you to the voters, who demonstrated that hard work and honesty can be recognized even in the much-maligned field of politics. I will serve you with those same values, and hope to restore your, and my, faith in the good of people to manage a limited government in the peoples’ interest without derivement for personal benefit or agendas.
Sincerely,
Wayne Norman

Get off your high horse, the voters of Harford County have no idea who the hell you are; they voted for you simply because you had an R next to your name and for no other reason. The Aegis had it right, you (and your partner from 35A) are do-nothing obstructionists that actually hurt Harford County institutions (by voting down any money that could come our county’s way through the budget, and worse yet with your support of the so-called ‘boast’ bill that will actually TAKE MONEY AWAY from our public school system). Sadly, Harford County, by blindly and foolishly electing you and Stifler will get exactly what it deserves – NOTHING.
This is not true of all Republicans by the way, Senator Glassman in particular (as was Senator Hooper before him) is a legislator that will work with people to get a job done. The same cannot be said for the 35A delegates. The electorate in 35A is woefully uneducated on this issue (thanks to an overdose of Fox and a disengaged local newspaper that in breath highlights the ineffectiveness of our representatives and then endorses them – I suppose they want do-nothing representation).
How embarrassing Delegate Norman, you – I am sure – feel great about your win, feel that the people of 35A chose you. They did not, they chose an R and a familiar name. Show me 25% of the people that voted for you who can name one thing you actually did for us, and I will eat my words (but you know you cannot). Combine this reality with the fact that our other Delegate did NOTHING – she did not appear at forums, did not campaign at all, and then has the audacity to talk about the ‘elitist’ Democrats in Annapolis while she drives around in a $70K Mercedes that has an auto-opening back door (how pathetic) – SHE FEELS NONE OF OUR PAIN PEOPLE – WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING? She does not represent you, nor does Norman, yet…
All that being said, as I write this one thought keeps crossing my mind: I am not sure anybody should even bother trying to talk to such a delusional candidate and ill-informed electorate. Pathetic.

Right on! The confused tea party people have no idea that a revolution is coming. Keep the masses poor, hungry, jobless, etc. — i live for the day.

I stood at Dublin Elementary Tues. with a sign saying among other things “Incumbents don’t care about Dublin.” (see my earlier post below) The few voters I was able to talk to due to the physical distance where campaigners stand and people park said they’d change their vote away from you when I told them your answers at the Darlington candidate forum. The others voted for you because of the R next to your name. They have no idea who you are and what you stand for. They voted against themselves.
Below comment I posted earlier this week and also was sent to the Aegis and not published:
“I live in Dublin and asked the state delegate candidates at the Darlington candidate forum 2 weeks ago what they would do to help those of us that live near the landfill. John Jones outlined a plan to work with MD Dept of Environment to enforce terms of the state required operating permit at the landfill. Wayne Norman said it was a county matter and he would do nothing. Norman was crude and vulgar and made a joke ridiculing unemployed people. Anyone who lives in the Dublin/Darlington area would be crazy to vote for Norman. Donna Stifler claimed to support us in the past but never actually did anything to back it up.”
NOTE: I proudly write my real name on these posts!
